Great club for the money. They just added a bunch of new equipment and are really fixing the place up. Best value in town!

I thoroughly enjoy the no frills and relaxing atmosphere at RAC. People are friendly, staff and customers alike. Get in, have a great workout at a great price. Not sure what the others were saying about the customer service and gossip??? Never heard anything negative about the place, professionals work out here and there is always a free cardio machine to call your own. Michelle works over time cleaning up and racking the weights. Keep up the good work RAC!

There seems to be little effort by most of the staff to create a professional attitude at the club. Although it is a recreation business, staff should treat customers as customers and not inconveniences. Many times the reception desk staff will give a half-hearted "have a nice day" as people leave following their workout. Probably because we have interrupted their conversation with another employee, or their TV program.

Much of the equipment is old and poorly maintained. "Out of order" signs are seen often on some of the most popular cardio equipment. There is a poor variety of circuit training machines for even a small club. It is almost as if the owner supplied machines that they use, as opposed to what their members desire.

The oddest thing, however, are the signs in the free weight room that admonish people for not re-racking their weights. Although such a reminder is seen at many clubs, the sign at RAC indirectly and directly accuses members of being ignorant, stupid and selfish all in a couple of paragraphs. I reads like a 12 year old wrote it in anger.

I myself like to weight train with free weights and the club has plenty of those. It also has a great selection of nautilas and circuit style training equipment. There are also plenty of treadmills there.

However it is no Balleys there are not mirrors on every wall. No chrome fixtures or weights and to me that is part of the charm of the place. A gym should be a place you go to exercize and relieve some stress and get a good sweat going in the process. This is exactly what the RAC delivers and there is not a better value in the area.

For the price ($32) it's great. There is usually wollyball going on monday and wedesday and basketball throughtout the week. Many people complain about it closing at 230 on the weekends in the summer and 430 throughout the rest of the year. It wouldn't cost owner much at all in changing that schedule. Best place to workout in racine as of yet.

according to the previous reviewer, he's giving it 2 stars because he:
1) overheard a conversation
2) between two complete strangers
3) talking about a guy he never even met
4) over an incident he has no understanding of
5) over an arrest with an uknown reason!

that's almost as close minded as it gets. i'm giving it 4 stars simply to balance out the absurdity.

Racine Athletic Club appears on the outside to be an okay place and the people there tend to seem alright. I do have questions about it after overhearing a discussion in the locker room. A couple of guys were complaining about a friend being arrested even though they claim hes not normally the most deserving. This in itself makes me suspicious.

Racine Athletic Club is wonderful. You get a lot for a little money. I love the Zumba class they offer. I just wish they had a web site but then they might have to charge more!! The place is always clean and everyone is friendly. I highly recommend the Racine Athletic Club. It's amazing, people actually work out. Unlike most clubs where you might see the same people for a couple of weeks and then never again! Great place! I've been a member for six months now.
