Despite what others have said, I had a great time when I stayed at Float Rite!!! It was so much fun meeting the people next to us, the bathrooms were clean, the employees were nice. I would definitely recommend staying here, I know I will!

The owner of the park decided I was too drunk and kicked me out of the campsite that I paid for. When I tried to get my stuff and leave, they called the police and brought me to jail. The owner of the campground is a disgusting, shameless man who also hit on my female friend. Don't go here unless you want trouble.

First off...I wasn't impressed!!!
We rented a cabin for the weekend and from what the website said all we needed were sleeping bags and pillows, and that dishes and pots and pans were provided. They weren't. The inside of the cabin was clean and new, but there were no doors or even curtains separating the bedrooms. Not sure how that was even a thought to exclude those.
Then, the bathrooms have NO soap!! Gross! And one stall in the female bathroom was out of order, which left 3 stalls. Only one had a lock. I don't see how a campground can't afford a 50 cent o ring bolt and hook. The bathrooms were very dirty!! I felt the dirty river was cleaner. Showers were $1 for 2 minutes!!! The shower heads barely spouted water. Very disappointed with the poor quality and care of such an essential item. Atleast there was sometimes (only sometimes) toilet paper.
Garbage was supposed to be disposed in the dumpster on our way out of the campground. There was NO dumpster, so we had to bring it home. Unappropriate. Remove the sign then.
Quiet hours were from 11 pm to 8 am. Clearly not inforced....loud music and drunk yelling well after 1 am.
Then...we were informed there would be a band Friday and Saturday night. And there wasn't. We picked this weekend for it.
I was thoroughly disappointed with the amount of money we spent for the poor quality of EVERYTHING! I have been to many many campgrounds and this was far worse than ones I have been to where there is just a porta potty and no bathrooms?
And I'm not a person to leave poor reviews, but this deserved it. And I'm sorry to say that.

I took a weekend off to visit my friends from college that live up near Float Rite. We thought this would be a good deal considering we all have minimum wage, part time jobs. Oh how wrong we were.
First of all, the campsites are tiny. Probably 10x15 feet or so. And your not separated from the other people. When we got there on Saturday there was a car and another tent in our spot and we didn't want to ask the people to move because they were already giving us death stares and they were extremely drunk, so we just said screw it and stayed at the place my friend was staying. We went back the next day to set up our tent and everything then went to the beach/etc for the rest of the day, intent on coming back and showering at the campground. They charge for showers. The worker we asked said it was probably 2-3 minutes for $1.
Okay, I understand that it's a private camp ground and they need to charge a bit more than the state parks do and everything, but we had already paid $169 for the site alone (5 people/two nights), $30 deposit (you get $20 back) for garbage, and $10/vehicle for parking.
The workers were also extremely rude. I inquired about the price (I made a reservation online) because I was under the impression that the garbage and vehicle charges were already made to my credit card but the lady just looked at me like I was retarded and replied in an equally demeaning manner. The worker that checked us in was also very demeaning. Also, the security is horrible. A drunk girl walked out in the middle of the road (there was no way I could drive around her) and a security person was right next to her just standing and staring. They don't do anything except drive up to you and ask you to go the speed limit (5 mph).
Bottom line: If you want to go and have a huge booze fest, go for it. You most likely won't get yelled at. If you want to actually camp and enjoy the outdoors - stay away. It is not a family friend or even teenage friendly camp ground.

Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE floating the river and the party atmosphere of Apple River BUT, we had the worst experience at Float Rite last weekend. Uncanny as it is, I have a review that is very similiar to the negative review from July 2008. We brought 13 friends up to stay at Float Rite and between the 13 of us, we had 26 years of experience of going up to Apple River. My husband and I were on our 4th year, another couple was on their 9th, another couple was on their 13 and the other 7 friends were on their 1st year.

This year, the theme was Christmas in July. We had decorated our 4 campsites and had donned ourselves with Santa hats, shorts and white t-shirts with the reindeer names. We were the happening place in the campground; having NUMEROUS people stop by to hang out with us. We even had the MANAGER of the park send someone to come get us and bring us to the office so she could see our outfits. We had a photographer come take pictures of us and everything....

On Friday night, we had walked approximately 8 or 9 drunken souls back to their campgrounds to make sure they made it "home" safely. About 11 pm two of us were walking a very nice but VERY intoxicated young man back to his site when a guy within a group of about 10 guys, started calling my friend's name. She turned around and asked who he was and if she knew him. He proceeded to tell her "I went to school with you", so, she walked over to see if she knew him. While she was chatting, I was about 20 feet in front of the group trying to get information from my drunken friend on where his campsite was. The next thing I know, my friend is screaming "Leave me alone! Stop! Don't touch me!". I turned around and she was being bounced around the group of guys like a mosh pit. All the while, they are groping her from head to toe, lifting up her shirt and grabbing... I saw headlights coming down the path of what I knew to be an ATV (as the other review said on here, security had been around on 4 wheelers all night). I flagged it down to see it was a 6 wheeler with 2 policeman, rather than Float Rite Security. When I began flagging this ATV down, I watched the group of guys separate (3 going this way, 2 going that way, etc.). As I was filling in the cops on what happened, a couple of the security guys came up. I proceeded to fill them in and we started pointing out some of the guys that were in the group. One group of 3 guys were stopped by one of the security guards (I later found out he was the owner of Float Rite). As soon as these guys turned around, he said "nevermind" and sent them on their way (the guys began laughing and kept walking). The 2nd group of guys we pointed out, my friend confronted them, they laughed and said "what? we didn't do anything" and the cops/security let them go... Upon asking why they were letting them go without talking to them, one of the security guards comes up to me and tells me, "If she is going to just point out everyone who walks by..." I reminded him that there were a group of about 10 guys and they had separated into smaller groups when I flagged down the cops. He then proceeds to tell me he is the OWNER and "when we are done here, YOU are out of here. What site are you at? Everyone you are with is out of here!" I was SHOCKED and asked why we were getting kicked out when my friend was the victim and I was the witness. He then tells us that one of the guys my friend pointed out was an undercover security guard. We go over and talk more to the policeman who are telling us their hands are tied because it is private property. I watch the "owner" turn to the other security guards and hear him say "I'm pressing charges". I asked him "for what and what did WE do that WE, and according to him, our whole party, were getting kicked out for." He just sat there, leaning on the ATV, smoking a cigarette and then says to one of the cops, "Wells, get this F***ing B*tch away from me. She is badgering me." NOT ONCE, DID I RAISE MY VOICE OR TALK DOWN TO THIS MAN... 2 more cops had come IN police cars by this time and when I told them the story, in a completely calm and respectul voice, by the way, they leave and do NOTHING... WE get driven down to our campsites by the cops in the ATV and then taken to the main gate of Float Rite Park and dropped off... Followed by the "owner" and other security guards. THANK GOD the rest of our friends were in bed and our campsites were quiet as the "owner" was intending to kick the rest of our party out too. The owner made us give the cops our names and told us we were banned FOR LIFE from Float Rite. If we ever came back, we would go to jail for trespassing.

Float Rite has the best set up for Apple River tubing. They bus you to the top and you float back to Float Rite, which is also one of the longer trips. They are very well organized and can manage large crowds well. The amphitheater is also a great place for music festivals.
