Shaw??s Jewelers not only offers and sells jewelry of poor quality, their sales associates clearly lack moral character. Shopping with Shaw??s has been nothing but a nightmare. A few years ago, my now fianc purchased a ring for me from Shaw??s. He is a carpenter for a living, and didn??t think he would need to change out of his work clothes just to go to the jewelry store. He made the assumption that he would be treated the same as someone in business attire. He stood in the store for several minutes while the associates ignored him. When he asked for help, the person at the computer told him someone would be right with him; the sales associates were all talking or walking around. The only reason he went back to Shaw??s for my engagement ring four years later was because he wanted to trade in the first ring he had bought there.
When he purchased my engagement ring, he again ran into service issues, similar to what I described above. He sent the ring to get sized before he proposed. When the ring came back from being sized it was scratched and there was a large glob at the base where it had been sized. The ring was so dirty from the shop that the box actually had stains on it. I got to wear my engagement ring for all of ten days before one of the diamonds fell out. I am a clerical worker, not a circus performer. When I took the ring in to get it repaired (thank goodness he bought the diamond replacement plan) they tried to imply that I had done something to it to make the diamond fall out, like catching it on files (because we all know that paper is much tougher than diamonds). One time for a diamond falling out would have been excusable??this has happened THREE times! I have been engaged for ten months and only gotten to wear my ring for eight, because it has been in the repair shop so much.
The most recent time that a diamond fell out (about two weeks ago), the sales associate said that the computers were down. She told me there wasn??t any way for them to look up the ??gold replacement plan? ( I was at work when I noticed a diamond missing and didn??t have my paperwork readily available) and that if I wanted it repaired I would need to make the payment before it would go out. I refused and told her several hundred dollars had been paid for the replacement plan and that I wasn??t paying a penny more; she then agreed to send it off and said I could pay for it when I picked it up if I didn??t have the replacement plan. After another two weeks of not having my engagement ring, I went in to pick it up when they called me. I noticed that the diamond that had been replaced seemed much darker than the others. I inquired about this, and the sales associated lied right to my face and told me that it was probably ??buffing compound? stuck below the diamond. If this had been true at all, it would still beg the question as to why they would send the ring back that way, since it would not be a completed piece of work. I took the ring to another jeweler who noticed the dark stone before I even said anything, and when she looked at it under magnification (and had my fianc and I take a look) she said that it was not only a different color (and a much lower grade diamond than had been there in the first place) it isn??t even the same cut as the others.
When I sent a complaint to the customer service department for Shaw??s, their only response was that it was past the return date for to ring. So basically, 2300 dollars later, we??re S.O.L.
If you do not want to be ripped off and lied to, DO NOT go to Shaw??s Jewelers!

Also, apostrophes and accented characters are not showing up in my review for some reason. How frustrating.

My wife started by going to this store few years back . She is glad with their selection and friendly staff, There is always some good sale in the store. The staff is very nice and will show you lots of designs without any pressure . Copared to other jewelers there prices are about 20 % less. You can get minor jewelery repair at the store

This staff here is very friendly, though they can sometimes be pushy and aggressive in sales. The store does great repair and sizing work. They have a good selection of high quality jewelry and the staff is knowledgeable. Their prices for both jewelry and repair are a little bit more than other jewelry stores.

PROS: Good selection
CONS: Sales staff can be pushy and jewelry/repairs can be pricey

I purchased a ring ONE year ago. At the time of the purchase I bought their corporate insurance (waste of money). The ring recently bent and I took it into Shaw's for repair. They returned my ring looking VERY differently than I purchased
