Sometimes you are sick of going to Applebee's for a night out. I was looking for something ethnic, and old world. I stumbled upon Crocus and decided to give it a try.

The night was cold, but Crocus was warm and unpretentious. The staff were largely Polish and Polish-American. The prices seemed reasonable, 10.95 for lake perch and 12.95 for a polish platter which included stuffed cabbage, sausage, perogis and a couple other regional favorites. We also could order Okicim (Polish Beer) on tap, a little pricey at 4.50 (16 oz) but it was on tap and an import from Poland no less!

Anways, the food was great, very authentic. The potato pancakes were very good as was the perch. I also really enjoyed my wife's stuffed cabbage. I would definitely go back.

The atmosphere was also very nice and relaxed. Not swanky, not trendy, just warm. The bar was also loaded with a caste of characters speaking Polish. One patron looked like John Paul the II. Very funny, how they were flirting with the young waitstaff. Place is fun, and enjoyable.

I love the food at Crocus, especially the fish fry. I highly recommend the yellow perch. All the fish fries come standard with soup (dill pickle is my favorite) choice of homemade soup, french fries or home grown boiled potato. Besides the FF though, everything is excellent on the menu.

Be sure to try an Okocim beer on tap.
