$10.00 for a 1/2 peck of Honey Crisp Apples! Holy Applesauce Batman $1.00 an apple out of an orchard of thousands of trees!!! I thought Apple orchards were suppose to be an inexpensive family outing! One visit is enough for me. I didn't think I'd need a weeks paycheck to visit a family owned Fruit Farm to pick a couple bushel of apples, and I didn't! $7.00 already picked, 1/2 peck of the "non-honey crisp". Again, that's about 8-11 apples. INSANE!

Sendiks, fresh fruit department just as good, half the cost. Minus climbing the trees to get them.

Another place that has been around FOREVER! Which has to mean something, given the high cost of keeping a great fruit farm open. Great apples, great fruits. The customer service is great too. It's family owned, so you can't go wrong here. They want a happy customer so you'll keep coming back. It's not on the main drag, so you'll have to do some looking to find it, but well worth the drive.

PROS: Love the fresh fruit options
CONS: a hike to get to

We went to Barthel to pick apples with my daughter. The apple trees were unlike any I've ever seen before, with branches that reached way down towards the ground (making it very easy for children to pick their own apples without riding on dad's shoulders). There is a wide selection of fruit throughout the year, including strawberries in June.
