I took my children to the Children's Museum of Eau Claire and was very disappointed. I had read rave reviews before going and my children were really excited to go. The building did not look clean and needed a lot of work done. My family

We bought a membership for our 4 kids! This is the most wonderful, well designed place for kids and parents in the Chippewa Valley. The place is clean and the staff is great, very friendly and helpful. The exhibits are perfect, kid friendly, educational and easy to use.

We LOVE coming to the Children's Museum! The staff is very warm and friendly. The exhibits can keep my family entertained for hours. The ever changing (quality) activities keep the museum exciting for all of my kids. We even take part in the events that the museum offers. My husband really loves to attend Fun with Fathers with our children and I can't say I mind the night off when we send our kids to Night at the Museum. They always come home having has so much fun. Thank you, CMEC!

I have to agree it is not worth it .The place is worn out i heard there is a second floor and for years it's opening soon. That never seems to happen, they need to hire a cleaning staff and take care of there exhibits and clean them better. The outside looks pretty bad to peeling paint and so on. I would take the family elsewhere St Paul has a really nice museum well worth the trip.

I have to agree the Children's Museum is declining. It looks unkempt. The activity rooms are dirty. The counter tops, tables, and chairs are frankly filthy. Some of the toys and props are severely worn and dirty especially in the market place. Last fall new items had been put in and there was a lot of change over the summer into fall. The place was really clean and a new color theme was added to the front entrance. It was given a face lift. The glass was always clean and it was dust free. The smell of the building was clean. One of my kids has asthma and now we have to leave the museum as dust and stale air effect his breathing. The lights in the stomach had been made brighter last fall and this year they were out for over a week. It smelled bad in there. Last year it smelled so clean and the lights worked. The place is falling apart. There are holes in the stomach lining. The carpet is worn. The water exhibit is a huge concern of ours too. The balls where slimy, there is a fuzz in the water, and it smells like fish . The floor mats are disgusting. The exhibit as a whole needs a good cleaning. The rest rooms are of concern too. They are just dirty and the smell of diapers is overwhelming. I have complained while we are there and the weekend staff is so good about fixing the issues as fast as they can. That being said, they are often understaffed and overwhelmed when the place is busy and I don't think they have a cleaning staff. There is never anyone there when we complain and and when we walk by at night we never see anyone inside. Another issue we had was there was a very rude staff member. She was an older women with glasses. In the activity room around Christmas, she was telling our four year old his painting needed more to it! Wow! An art critic to a four year old. When I advised the woman that's the way he wanted his painting. She said it needs more. More what!? My son was very proud of it and was very upset by this woman's actions. I mean come on he is four! This is not art school. The museum is in decline and I think there are better places to take your kids. If you do decide your life will not be complete without a visit, hand sanitizer is a great idea. Maybe making sure their shots are up to date would be a good idea as well!

My Family and I are regulars at the museum and on our many visits this is what I have noticed. There has been a change in the museum and not for the better. Last year there was painting and repairs going on and this year it looks worn and dirty. The front entrance again is falling apart and leaking. The interior is not in good shape. The exhibits are worn and nothing really changes. The cleanliness of the museum has been in decline over the past few months and it smells bad. The restrooms are in need of a deep cleaning and better diaper disposal options. The water exhibit has gotten so dirty I rarely let my kids play in it. There is some sort of floating fuzz in the water and the blue mats on the floor are filthy. Over the past month my family and I have really backed off our trips to the museum and that's a shame. My kids loved it but it is not what it once was. If you do go to the museum bring hand sanitizer. And remember, Irvine park is open and that's free and cleaner.

The Children's Museum of Eau Claire is very comparble to other children's museums throughout the state. They have a lot of great hands-on activities for children of all ages that are sure to grab and hold their attention. Lots of interaction which is what young children need. The admission fee is very reasonable for the amount of things there are to do!

I have taken my kids a few times. They are 4 and 2 , and have a lot of fun. Its a good place to take them, because whil having fun, they are learning too. The cost to get in is reasonable, and the days and hours they are open work great for us
