This place was great. Just stopped in to get a soda on a hot day and found out it was now an AMVETS Post. Met some of the Veterans that make up the Post and ended up having dinner and cocktails. Can highly recommend. You won't be sorry. There is a fantastic group of veterans that hang out there. You are treated with dignity and respect.

What a nice stop. My wife and I were taken in after a drive in the country. Besides the rural location which is peaceful and serene. The food was very good. Very friendly owners made you feel welcome and treated us like old friends. If you feel like getting out of town this a great getaway out in the countryside.

Great place! Food was great, drinks were cold and the Karaoke was a blast! This is by no means the old Inn it was. It's actually clean and greatly priced. We will be backed next Harley run!

We went to Sailor Dan's to meet friends, it was the half way point for each of us. The outside was very rustic looking and made me a little nervous if I would be working overtime to pay for dinner. I was wrong. The food was great, service was friendly and greatly priced! We even did a little karaoke before calling it a night. My wife had a steak with all the extras for under $15. She was very pleased with the flavor and impressed with the price, for my wife that says a lot. I had a burger, it was a nice size and tasted great, maybe $7. After a few drinks we left and had only spent $40. I was impressed! Great food, great service, friendly people and over all it was a great time. we will be seeing you again! Thanks Sailor Dan's!

My family went to Sailor Dan's in mid March and was not sure what to expect having been to the Inn before. LOVED IT! They catered very well to us (our sitter canceled and we went with 3 kids). The waitress was friendly and understand to our messy kids. The food was great and even better I left with money still in my pocket! It's laid back easy going atmosphere made going out with the kids a pleasure instead of a headache. This is our new family place and look forward to going to the Friday fish fry weekly. Thank you Sailor Dan's we love it and wish the best of luck!

The owner used to work at Auctioneers Inn, so you think the atmosphere and food would be very similar?
On a Friday night, there were our table of 3 and one other table of 4, at 6:30pm, prime dining time you would think.
The Fish Fry was okay, my husband ordered "steak" fries and got regular skinny fries, like McD's. My daughtered asked if the potato pancakes were homemade, the owner said "we're working on that recipe" (something almost ANYONE can make), but still, my daughter ordered them, which they were FROZEN HASH BROWNS deep fried. My 9oz. Filet was more like 6 oz. and done medium not medium rare like I had asked.
My husband wanted their Auctioneer's Shrimp and Scallop dinner, BUT they didn't have SCALLOPS! ON a Friday? The owner said "that truck didn't deliver today" , but they had FISH? Wouldn't that be on the SAME truck?

I would not recommend going there if you're a past Auctioneers Inn patron, because this is nowhere near how good their food was.
Maybe my expectations were too high? I will not go back.
The waitress, i think was the owners daughter, was in training, and was wearing CROC shoes? more like slippers.

New owner. New Name. Formerly Auctioneers Inn. Re opened March of 08. Very clean with a new look. An excellent menu of Seafood and Steak, and not overpriced. Committed to quality food.

Still have Great Lobster

Come out and see us.

I have to admit we only come here once every 2 years. Only because one dinner here for us costs the same as 2-3 weeks worth of groceries once we get the bill. Don't panic, I'm sure you can keep your bill lower than ours, but we just can't resist. About 16 years ago, my girlfriends boyfriend took her, my now husband and myself out to eat at Auctioneers Inn for lobster tails. OMG, was I in heaven. My husband and I shared a 2 lb. lobster tail, enjoyed appetizers, salad, drinks and dessert. We had no idea how much it cost, until we went on our own. Their prices aren't high, lobster tails are market price just about anywhere. However, we didn't want to share this time. We each ordered a 2 lb. tail ea. Enough of my story, let me tell you about the place. This restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere. Cornfields surround this place. The place is really small and I've never gone here without a reservation. It's really small, so I highly recommend you call ahead of time. The menu is on what looks like one of those pizza boards that you slide in and out of restaurant pizza ovens. You can choose from lobster, crab legs, filet and a couple other items. Each time we've gone there we also order the ceaser salad. The server will come back with his/her rolling table filled with ingredients and a huge bowl. The salad is made right in front of you and I have to admit I would be happy with that alone it is so yummy. The mixed drinks are incredible. I love their mai tais. I've never been able to duplicate it either. Once dinner comes I usually switch to wine, which there is a nice variety to choose from. Now, if you can leave room for dessert their flaming diablo's are delicious. I have never been disappointed here. When we eat here, we usually celebrate my husband's and my birthday and mother's day all in one since the dates are so close together. Every time we have gone here they have asked us if we were celebrating anything, which we always are. The server then gives us a complimentary bottle of champagne to go. I still have those bottles after all these years. I'm not a champagne drinker, so I have no idea how it tastes. As another bit of info. I live about 1 hour from this restaurant, in Illinois and I've never even heard of this town. I always run into someone that has gone here and raves about the food. It's not fancy, you can dress up or just dress casual. I heard it used to be a stage stop back in the day. I'm not sure if that's true, I wouldn't doubt it. If you get there early you can sit at the bar until your name is called. It's hard to recall but I don't think there are more than 10 no higher than 15 tables there to eat at. It's private, personal, great food, romantic and overall one of my personal favorite restaurants to eat at. The food is always top notch and worth every single penny!
