A project worth tens of thousands of dollars was completed installing and replacing windows and a door in my home. I was assured permits would be taken out and everything would be in compliance with codes. When it came to sell the house the window they installed was in violation of codes which require its removal or the relocation of the electrical service. Hours and hours was spent on this trying to verify that the installation was indeed proper and the headache was certainly not wanted!
Recently I had sliding doors replaced and one window.
The salesman was respectful and professional.
The installers were knowledgeable, professional and cleanec up after themselves.
I am disappointed with the company itself - I bought 19 windows several years ago. About a year ago one of the windows began losing the final coating and developed mold. When I contacted the company they said there was nothing they could do about it because the company that made the windows went out of business. I felt they should replace the window for free or at least give me a discount. After several discussions with the main office I gave up. I ended up paying for a replacement window from Sidex because I couldn't find the etched glass window I was looking for anywhere else. Then, after the new sliding doors were installed I noticed that they have a different type of handle when compared to the doors that Sidex installed several years ago. This makes sense since it has been several years but when I contacted Sidex about obtaining a new handle for my old doors so the handles match they took my request by telephone and never called me back. I am on the fence with referring this company due to all of this.
Nice sales presentation for a new tub insert and surround, but for an estimated he just scratched a number on a piece of paper. He kept lowering it with "specials" they had going on. I've seen that plenty of time before, but what I found strange was no detailed explaination of the cost. I've seen alot of estimates before and always had a detailed explaination. This was very car salesman like and very creepy. When my wife and I said we needed time to think about it the high pressure sales tactics came out. When we said we weren't going to commit right now for about the fifth time he just went silent and packed his stuff up. He left us no literature, no written estimate, not even a card. I'm sure if you don't get the estimate IN WRITTING it's definetly not good for 12 months. Thanks but no thanks Sidex. BTW the estimate was definetly to high for the product and service offered.
The contractor they sent over refused to do a quote on my house at the appointment time, and would only reschedule for a date where my father (who helps with some of my basic handiwork) was present. He didn't seem to believe I was 26 years old and the sole owner of the house. Maybe young single women owning a home are too unusual to them. They might do good work, but I won't be using this company.

I have the same story as everyone else.. Pushy salesman, needed to make a decision THAT night, and gets upset when we say that we needed to sleep on the decision. If you are a company that is really into customer service, you would NEVER pressure a customer into anything! All you need to do is just provide all of the information and provide the price. If the customers need some time to think about it, fine. If you are "no pressure", I'm sure you will make a lot more sales. Times like this when the economy is iffy, people like to take time to make decisions, not rushed into possibly making a bad one. If he had just let us take some time to think about it, we would have gone through with them redoing our tub/surround, but after his "3 year old tantrum" when he was leaving, we have decided to do business elsewhere. When they come knocking on your door, don't even bother.
I ordered windows Triple pane. Paid a lot of money on day of delivery they were only double pane of glass. They were to remove rotten wood in casement area said on contract They didn't do that just covered rotten wood, windows leak now drafty not enough insulation used around window. Could buy these from Menard's and do a better job myself. Didn't get what I paid for and did not get reimbursed the money paid for them do to different window put in triple cost way more!!!!
Mark and Doug were exceptional! Their work ethic was outstanding. Mark treated the project like it was his own bathroom. We apprectiated his professional opinion and expertise. Mark would be the reason to look into sidex for future home improvements. He's a remarkable person. I hop the company knows what they have in him!
Our story is the same as other tub customers below. Sales guy was nice but a bit pushy. He climbed into the tub and pointed out the obvious. But I noticed he was stomping around strangely. We went into the living room and went through the sales pitch. We were upfront with wanting just a quote because we would not be doing any remodeling until spring. We also said we would want to talk to references and maybe see the finished work. He passed over that quickly. When we persisted and said not until Spring he picked up his things and asked for help with the door. Very strange indeed. But one thing that really has me upset, he left black tar or something in the tub that has not come out. Our street is clear of any fresh tar or oil so he brought that in, I believe to purposefully mess up our tub. It would have been fine if we were redoing it right away, but we are not. We may have gone with them in the Spring, but no more.
The salesman was fine; little high pressuring but we were pleased with the windows and the price. Then the fun began. First team came to install the windows; after spending a few hours, they deemed it too cold (Jan.) to work & left. Two weeks later another team came (it was even colder) and proceeded to install our windows. He seemed to be good craftsman but didn't clean up well. When putting in bay window, cracked our wall and drywall & paint came off. Then he put on the wrong roof on our bay window. I hate it but they won't stand behind it and put the correct one on. Told me I have to live with it. Did return to fix wall but bad patch job; paint doesn't match. Came to fix large scratch on seat of bay window (that they made) - removed scratch but it doesn't blend in with rest of stain at all! Installed 2 storm doors & neither fits well. Cold pours in from outside during cold months. Happy? No Way !!!!!!!

The salesman came out and was nice enough but wouldn't leave! He stayed 3 1/2 hours even after we said we wanted to think about it. Real high pressure, insisted we commit that night, even said he would change from salesman to banker to make it happen. Turns out we were right in refusing to cave in, we got the same great windows for $9000 LESS (his first price ) , and $5000 LESS than his rock bottom price 2 mos later. Yes he kept bugging us. The other company had the same features, that he told us were exclusive to his company, includ the Good Housekeeping Seal, etc. And the other company salesman took only an hour of our time, and left literature with us, even when we said we needed to think about it. Sidex guy left nothing for us to review.

Our situation was similar to those posted below. We agreed to the free in home estimate with no obligation to buy at this time. We were told that our quote would be good for a year. The salesman was very friendly at first, went through his presentation, measured our bathtub, showed us samples, and had pretty much convniced us that we would like a new tub from them. Then he started talking about the cost, which was reasonable, but we are having financial hardships right now and hadn't planned on doing our tub until the summer. He kept asking what he could do to get us to agree to commit to a new tub, and would stare at us silently and blankly just wanting us to say yes. We told him we cannot possibly afford a payment right now, but that we liked the product and his presentation. Then, he started packing up his stuff not saying a word for about 3 minutes (laptop, paperwork, samples) and the only thing he said was "can you get the door". No "thank you for your time", no "well I hope you might use us in the future", nothing! He left no business card, no actual quote, no phone number, no brochure, NOTHING. He basically stormed out. It was one of the most awkward situations I've ever been in and I couldn't believe someone from such a "great company" would behave that way. We liked the product a lot and probably would have gone with them despite his horrible horrible behavior. We would never recommend this company to anyone...find someone else who does the same thing!!!
I agree with everything that Anonymouse R said. The friendly first guy stopped by, and I agreed to a free estimate. The salesman who came the next night was anything but as friendly. He was a pushy salesman who gave me a quote, then tried knocking hundreds and thousands off of it until it was only 2/3 his original quote! He kept saying it's only for tonight - tomorrow it'll be more!!
When I asked him to leave, he insisted on making some phone calls to "try to get me a better price," which was obviously a sales gimmick. The whole experience was so surreal that I found it humorous, however I can see how others could easily be pressured into a purchase.
When the salesman left, I said "Just send me all the info you can so I can make a decision." He asked if he could follow up with a phone call. I told him No, I prefer things in writing and don't like to talk on the phone without a paper trail and time to think about such important matters. Despite that, they've called me almost a dozen times in the past 4 days! Are you serious? Better business?? what a joke!

The other day, a man with no uniform and no credentials came to our door and, despite there being not one but TWO "No Soliciting" signs on our doors, he rang the bell. He told us that he was in the area working on another project and would we like a free quote on windows or siding. We had recently gotten a quote from a local contractor and said no. He persisted, and finally, we figured, what's the harm in getting a free quote that's valid for 18 months if it makes this guy go away... so we did. The next day, another guy came out and gave us an extremely high pressure, scripted sales pitch after he measured everything and did the quote. The entire thing lasted over 6 hours, and after we told him repeatedly that we were not going to spend 16k at this time, he started knocking off $500 here, $1000 there, $200, etc. However, these discounts and incentives were ONLY available if you blindly said Yes "right now". "Once I walk out the door, if I have to come back tomorrow or next month, the price goes up". Very high pressure, absolutely would not take our 25+ polite "No, not at this time" for an answer. They even went so far as to offer us a loan to pay off our credit cards at a lower interest rate if we agreed. That was what finally made us consider it - but at the end, the amount of the loan was vastly different from the first amount he "guaranteed" when he made the offer, and there were several other inconsistencies between what he "guaranteed" and what the paperwork actually said. So we woke up and sent the "we changed our minds" form that you have 3 days to send to their office in New Berlin. I would not even let them bully you into making an appointment you don't want, like we did - the "free" quote that is good for 18 months is just an excuse to get into your house, where they will use extremely high pressure sales tactics akin to a kirby salesman or a timeshare presentation. I'm sure the product was very nice and all, but the cost was, for lack of better words, bizarre, and the sleezy sales tactics left me feeling dirty after they guy left - I couldn't believe that I had actually caved in and let him talk me into "yes" after telling him "no" dozens of times. I think the tactic is to make you sit at the table for hours and exhaust you so that the only thing you want to do is end the quote and get on with your life.

After giving a contractor half down to put windows in a house we were rehabbing, he disappeared!
Sidex didn??t ask for much of a down payment, came out before they originally estimated and did the project in 1 day??.picture perfect!
I since gave them 2 other homes to do. I wish the plumbers, electricians & other contractors were as prompt & efficient.
