This restaurant has been in existence for decades, owned by several generations of a family. It is a Northwoods classic restaurant. The menu is limited, because they stick to what they do well and they do it very well. All entrees, mostly a variety of steaks, but also jumbo shrimp, haddock, and chicken, are cooked over a charcoal grill - to perfection. The salad is a quarter head of iceberg lettuce, served with a lazy susan of homemade dressings. Potato selection is baked (only) but it is the perfect baked potato, served with a seasoned cottage cheese topping that is (really!) much tastier that sour cream. Dessert is ice cream.
Steak lovers love it here. I would have preferred cod to haddock, but the haddock was very good. The menu states the chicken falls off the bone, and it does - it is very tender and flavorful.
The last time I was there, the owner's son was the host, and we overheard him being a bit surly with patrons. Our waitress was very friendly, however. Maybe the reputation of the food gets patrons past the host?
