This was one of the most disappointing experiences ever. I felt completely taken at the end of the day. I stopped by with a car load of kids toys and clothes. I was told by the girl at the desk that they would take a look at my stuff and could come back between 2 and 5 for payment. Fair enough. I had clothes new with the tags still on them, barely used toddler toys, etc. It was good stuff. When I came back they had only picked the very best stuff out of my pile and left the rest for me to take home. And the worst part is that they barely gave me anything for my turned in items. I felt ripped off. And the lady that actually signed the check was a B*tch. I sure hope she isn't the owner or she should be ashamed of herself. That's no way to treat your customers! I was expecting to be greeted politely and cheerfully. Give me a break people! I hope this business goes under. I will never buy from them just because of this experience.

I was a 1st time and last time customer. I walked in there with my 5 month old in one hand and a basket in the other hand. The women behind the counter were rude, never asked if I needed help, not even a welcome to our store. The whole experience was negative from my phone call for directions where the woman said "around the corner!" I am not from this area. We just moved here. In this economy you can pick and choose where you spend your money. You can bet your bottom dollar mine won't be spent here!

I at first thought...Wow, this is a cool store, but then was VERY disappointed with the employee service. They are very rude and not helpful at all. They seem to be displaced if you ask a simple question, maybe they don't realize that it is business like mine that keeps them there. The times I have been there , there have always been at least 3 employees and none of them have been helpful. I also took 3 bins of name brand/boutique clothing there and was offered $28.00, luckily I had returned that day, took my items and left. I thought it strange that they said "If you want you can leave your stuff and we have pick ups for them to be donated this afternoon" That seemed strange to me. I would rather give away my clothes then leave them there or sell them for a whooping $28.00. I will say that they do have decent clothes at reasonable prices, but it's not worth it to walk in see someone frown at you and then be just rude and unfriendly. Owning and running a store is not just about selling merchandise, it is about customer service and they are seriously lacking in that department.

This place is a RIPOFF for sellers. I dropped off some designer clothes (Juicy, DKNY, UnderArmor, etc.) yesterday which were in pristine condition, and told the clerk I couldn't return until today, as it was going to take a while to look my items over. She assured me this was fine. When I returned this morning, I was given a check for $28.95 and told that my items were already on the selling floor. When I complained about the paltry amount of the check, I was told that I would've had to have come back yesterday in order to dispute the consignment amount. I explained that I was told I could return today, and she pretty much told me, "Too bad." I WILL NEVER CONSIGN HERE AGAIN!

I'm amazed by the reviews here, given that my experience at New to You Kids Brookfield has been great! Target's right across the street, but I always make sure to drop into NTYK before I pay full-retail. Those quick little stops have saved me plenty!

Ah...AMANDA H review.....yeah, she works there. Not only do I know this to be true, but it is blatantly obvious in her writing and informative details of the store in which a normal parent/customer would not be privy to that information. Apparetly she is also an ex employee of Once Upon a Child too!

I have been shopping at NTYK since I was a 13 I am now 27 and I shop there for my own children I live about 40 miles away but spend alot of time in the Milwaukee area and I drop in to shop for my three girls when I'm in the area I shop at both the Brookfield & Greenfield location. I find that the payout is low I rarely sell there because of this. But being a mom to three girls two of whom adore Gymboree, and one who's obsessed with Abercrombie I shop there all the time and I find there prices resonable occasionally there are overpriced items but I just pass them by and move to the next item. I have never had a problem with a rude employee and as I said I have been shopping here for 14 years. So here is a small rundown giving you an idea of recent pricesI have paid in the last month.

Gymboree- size 4- Leggings w/sweater & hairbows $6.95
(take a look at gymboree.com and you will see this is a steal)

Gymboree- size 4- leggings with long sleeve shirts- $5.95 each

Gymboree -size 4- semi Formal Dress with tights $11.95
(again a steal this same dress was $50 last year)

Gymboree- size 6- long sleeve tee $4.95
Ralph Lauren- size 8- cable knit sweater- $6.95
Ralph Lauren Jeans- size 8- $7.95 NWT
Abercrombie- size S- Angora sweater- $8.95
Abercrombie-size S-long sleeve dress shirt $6.95
Abercrombie- t-shirts-$4.95 each
George-size 6- solid Tank tops $1.50
George- size 6- pearl button solid cardigan $2.50
Abercrombie-size S- wool peacoat- $18.95
($135 in store)

The most expensive outfit I have ever seen in store was $16.95 and that was gymbo NWT Dress, tights, bows & purse
I bought those items last week I feel I got excellent deals if you have ever shopped at these stores you know what they cost and thats less than a 1/4 of what you would pay in store and yes they have been worn but they are only new the first time you wear them so as long as they were well cared for its an awesome deal. I think people need to realize that this isn't a rummage sale or thrift store it is a high end resale shop most of what they carry are expensize upscale namebrands and when they are from walmart or target they price them fairly. Now as I mentioned before I have seen things I felt were overpriced on occasion mostly Brookfield but you have to remember different people place value differently pass it over

A coworker of mine told me about this store when I told her about my frustration in finding pants for my super skinny 4 year old. She gave me the phone number and I called them. I just wanted to ask few questions such as how they obtained the clothing, if the clothes were washed, and the price ranges. A VERY RUDE EMPLOYEE, who happened to be named "Amanda" seemed annoyed by my call and wouldn't give me straight answers, I hung up the phone and googled the store name instead which is how I found this "insiderpages" site.

Funny thing, the very first review is by somebody named "Amanda" who seems to know a lot about the history, policys, and operations of the store. She knows things most customers wouldn't know. She is also very defensive when talking about the other children's store that is mentioned in the reviews. I have a pretty good feeling that the review is by an employee of new to you kids. Its pretty pathetic that people have such bad things to say about your business that your employees must write good reviews for it. I have not shopped at the other children's store you mentioned in your review, but I will check it out now, thanks for the tip! :)

My rating is 1 star due to the fact that new to you kids' employees write reviews for them, and the RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE that I have received on the phone. I will not be shopping here and I will make sure to tell my friends the same thing

The staff is very unfriendly and the manager or owner is just RUDE! She has no social skills. The Walmart brand clothes cost the same there as they do new at Walmart. However you can find some deals on items but you really have to look

I used to stop into New To You Kids when my kids were first born. The same girl is always working (I think she may be the owner). Every time she is working I hear her complaining about customers being mean, or how ugly a children's item is or something along those lines to her coworkers. She is NOT a very friendly person. New to You Kids on 124th street does have a great selection of toys, blankets, and baby gear items, however, I am a little weary of buying items like that due to a scare I had with the other New To You Kids (see my other reviews for more info).

Their prices are OK but don't make much sense. There are 2 piece, long sleeve Walmart brand outfits for the same price as 2 piece, long sleeve Gymboree brand outfits. I've never sold to this resale shop however, if I did, I wouldn't want them offering me the same for my Gymboree as they do Walmart brand. I've also heard people saying that you had to wait there about two hours before they open just to get in line to sell stuff to them. That's CRAZY!

Their selection isn't too great either. The store is dimly lit and I wonder how they see stains on clothing when they are buying them. The store is also ALWAYS messy. For example, I will be looking in the 0-3 month section of clothes, maybe only 1/2 of the items I am looking at are 0-3. The other 1/2 are other sizes are shoved in there and the employees don't care enough to take them out.

There is a VERY nice children's resale store called Once Upon a Child that is only like two minutes down the road from New To You Kids (see my other reviews for it). At that other store, they maybe have 4+ times more clothing than New To You Kids. All the clothing at the other store is also organized by color and season!

I do not recommend New To You Kids. I suggest traveling a few more minutes down the road to a much better store!

Going into the store I didn't expect much. I did find a few quality items at a reasonable cost. The employees were really unpleasant. I wasn't looking for a smile or even customer service. I was ignored and treated like purchasing something was too much of a hassle. I think so many people are desperate for cash that they sell to this place and the owners (and employees) feel as though they're doing you a favor. It's unfortunate because the resale concept is supposed to be beneficial to all parties involved. I won't go back, as I don't want to perpetuate their business practices - it's not right.

This isn't Macy's obviously, but we have never been disappointed when we visit New to You Kids. They always have something that is appropriate and well priced. It may take some time to wade through everything, but you will find some real steals. Yeah, you may be able to find it cheaper on Ebay, but some people need to be able to touch and feel their items before they buy. This place is perfect for that. We have bought baby clothes, MANY baby toys and equipment(which you know are way overpriced when new), toddler clothes, teen clothes. You name it, it's here. I'm glad they are picky about their clothes, b/c there are other places to buy used clothing if your not picky. I know coming here, I will find good quality items, even being second hand.

PROS: lots of clothes to choose from
CONS: none

Most of the stuff here is in very good condition and I've found some great buys. They will buy your child's clothes and toys that he/she has outgrown, but they only pay you about 1/4 or less of what it's worth. Then they mark it way up to resell it to someone else. I understand they have a business and they need to make a living, but some of the items they are selling are priced too high for being used items. However, you can find some super designer items in really good condition for less than you'd pay if you bought them new.

If you are just going to throw the stuff out or give it away, it's good to bring it here and get paid something for it that you can use toward purchasing something new for your child.

New To You Kids is a "consignment shop" that buys used kids clothing. They buy in ranges from newborn to around seven years old. They don't give you much for the clothing, but its better then giving them away for free.

PROS: buys them from you

This place has lots of name-brand clothes to choose from, but I think the prices are a little too high. You can buy all kinds of clothes nowadays that are on sale, so you don't always get the best deal here. They can have some cute clothes and children's supplies, if you're looking for other kids stuff, but the clothes aren't that good of a deal.

This place has everything you need from name brand clothes to toys and furniture. Everything is in great shape, almost new looking. They even buy your slightly used items to resell. If you had a decent pile of clothes and stuff to sell you might brake even all in one trip.

PROS: You will always find a deal even if you are not looking.
CONS: They are not open very long in the evening.

New To You Kids in Brookfield is not on my favorite places to buy kids' clothes. The selection is decent, but anything with a name brand is extremely expensive. The employees are rarely friendly, and pay more attention to each other than their customers. If they would put a smile on their faces and greet customers when they walk in the door, it would go a long way!

Like so many others, I have taken some clothes to sell there...brand names and all great condition or new... they said they will call me when they are done....night falls and no incoming calls... (they will not try to verify if they made a mistake on phone numbers and all)... anyways, I go there the next morning and they said that they got ride of my things... I was so upset and they did not seem to care.... yeah, my clothes were on their rack...not donated!!!!! They are dishonest and RUDE..... NEVER will I SHOP THERE!!!!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!!! Go to Tuesday Kids (they are cool)

FUTURE COMPLAINTS PLEASE FILE WITH Better Business Bureau
That will be more efficient!

I am 7 months pregnant with a high risk pregnancy, so I am on bedrest. My husband and I are short on cash because I no longer have an income, so I was excited to find a store that has cheap, children's items for sale.

We live about an hour away in Oconomowoc but my husband drove down there to pick out a crib. He found one there that he liked. We weren't picky looking for one, we just wanted a sturdy, safe crib for our baby. He found one that he liked there of about 3 that they had and bought it for $70. He unassembled it, loaded it in his car, and then drove all of the way home. He brought it upstairs, put it together, and we showed it off to my sister who came over that day. She informed me that most drop sided cribs had be recalled and I should check it for recalls. So I looked it up on the government website and it had been recalled. The side drops down while the baby is in it, the baby falls out and can get hurt! I called New to You Kids and told them the story. They told me that cribs are not returnable. I told them we bought the crib THAT DAY and we just want to bring it back. They didn't care. I finally told them that the government website says that it is "against the law to sell recalled items" and I also told them that I will report them to the government. After putting me on hold for a long time, they finally agreed to let me return the crib if I purchase another crib that is in the store. Fed up, I just agreed to that. My poor husband had to disassemble the crib again, haul it downstairs, load it in the car, then drive all of the way back to the store. He picked out another crib from the store that didn't have a drop side which happened to be $10 more than the crib we originally got, he unassembled that, loaded it in his car, drove of the way back home, brought it upstairs and before he spent all this time assembling it again, I checked it for recalls, just in case.

Would you have guessed it? This crib is recalled as well. The bottom of the crib that the mattress sits on collapses causing the baby to fall on to the ground. This crib has injured several babies and has KILLED TWO BABIES!!!! I am so angry at new to you kids! I called them up, had to explain the whole story from the beginning when we got the first crib they said "cribs are not returnable, we gave you a chance with the second crib, you can not return it" then hung up the phone on me!!!!!!!!!!! I have never in my life been so angry in my life towards something like I am towards new to you kids. I pretty much threw $80, a whole weekend, several trips there and back, and my poor husbands time and energy away!! I feel so horrible that this store that is supposed to cater to families who are having hard economic times, would take advantage of new parents!! I do not need this stress while I am trying to take care of this child that is growing inside of me.

I have since contacted the government agency to report them and they have a file open on new to you kids for both of their locations in Wisconsin. The woman on the phone, who deals with ALL children's stores in Wisconsin, was very familiar with new to you kids, She told me they have had many many counts of items that are recalled or labeled "unsafe" to sell and many people call and complain about them. She said unfortunately, all they can do is add it to their file, and fine them. She also told me that they continue to sell recalled items because the money that they get fined, is less than what they make on the item. So new to you kids only cares about making money and not about they people they are selling their items to! I have also reported new to you kids to the better business bureau.

It is my personal goal to make sure none of my friends or family members shop at new to you kids. I will tell everybody I possibly can who has children, or will have children to not stop at this horrible, horrible store!

I used to think this was a great store until I brought a bag of clothes to sell there. I had a paper grocery bag full to the top of infant clothes that my daughter barely wore, all in 100% perfect condition, and they took my name and number and told me they'd call me when they went thru it. A month went by with no word so I finally went in to see what was up. So first they all look at eachother like they have no idea what's going on and they're hoping the others do, and they hand me $4.32 for the stuff they took and said the rest was "donated" because I didn't come pick it up. I will absolutely never again spend a single dime in there again. Not only did they steal from me, they sold my stuff for proffit. I don't believe for a second they "donated" anything in that bag. Everything was in perfect condition. I'd rather donate the stuff to needy babies than put money in their pockets. One star is one too many.

Pros: none

Cons: this store is a rip off

They are not friendly and pay very little for very nice items. You only feel cheated when you leave. It's too bad that so many people feel this way because they have the potential to be a very nice shop. When you bring their name up, people tend to frown. Too bad.
