unfortunate enough to stay in this ancient vile motel in July 2007 with my daugher & son-in-law - we are in our late 70', because it looked quiet & peaceful with a quiet time enfored of 10pm, with a private deck out to the beach and lake.
There was no telephone we could use as there was NOT one in the room and the public phone was out of use. the floor sagged in the room (room 7), the shower leaked over the top of the curtain, flooding the floor and flowing into the light fitting, the toilet did not flush properly, the tv was not tuned into any stations etc etc etc
The owner moved the nightly campfire from the position shown on HIS website and put it directly outside our deck. We paid extra for this room for the deck. We are asthmatic and could not breathe because of the campfire and we were all kept awake till 2 in the morning every night by drunks around the campfire, including what looked like kids. this fire was 4 foot from our deck. there is a posted quiet time of 10pm. twice my daughter & son-in-law opened the sliding patio door and asked these loud drunks to please be quiet and they kept ignoring them. when they then complained to management about this, they were met with abuse and then he grudgingly told them to move, so the drunks smashed bottles outside our door, knocked our trash bin over etc. owner said he would move fire, but nothing done so WE moved the chairs away and he whined and moaned and whinged as he moved the fire pit. no attempt to apologise said "its a comunity here and we do what the majority decides" - i disagree, its a motel where we PAY to stay for facilities as advertised.
we will report them to the tourist board. we have pix of how close the fire pit is to our deck. there is no driving to your room, have to carry all your stuff across the site. its for sale as we saw mr personality showing a couple of prospectibve buyers around. this place look slike it was decorated in the 1970's and not been touched since. a disgrace. hope someone else has it now and improves it. we assume the owners unplesantness was because we are British, not american and he thought he could treat us all like dirt with no repercussions.
