How fun for the family to visit the olden days. This musemun has very intresting authentic histroical homes and items. There are even charactors in costume that give you information about the time period that the home your looking at was from. This is a great place to take elementary school kids and older.

I have been going to Old World Wisconsin for a long time and have never been disappointed. There is always something new to see no matter how often you go. Different seasons provide new demonstrations and you get an appreciation of what life was like before ( I think as hard a time as our ancestors had it to me these were the good old days) . We have taken many children from our own to nieces and nephews to friends , they always seemed to enjoy themselves and wanted to go again. The buildings are all authentic not reproductions, they were dismantled and reconstructed on site from there original locations. This in and of itself is an interresting story. The people who present the history are all dressed in period clothes and do really act the part. They are a stockpile of information and always willing to share history and answer all questions. Demonstrations from carding wool to spinning to quilt making go on daily and are very interresting. Kids and even you will never be bored.

PROS: A great place to learn family history.
CONS: I have to leave at the end of the day.

We just love it.

The historically accurate buildings are not re- creations, they are actual buildings
moved here from
the original
locations in Wisconsin. They are furnished as they would have been back in their day.
Knowlegeable costumed guides
welcome you to their homes or business just as though they were the original owners. They are often busy with tasks of daily living, cooking, spinning, caring for the animals or the farms.
It's interesting to see and hear how things were done in the old days.
There are many special events througout the season that runs from May-Oct with seasonal events for the holidays.
There is a gift shop and a wonderful restaurant with the very best cookies in the world.

PROS: This is how grandma and grandpa used to live.
CONS: It can be expensive but worth it.

We went to Old World Wisconsin for Laura Ingalls Wilder Days and had a blast! The admission is really on the pricey side, but was worth it for this one event. There was a ton of hands-on activities for the kids and it was really educational. If you go, plan to bring plenty of water, as there are few places to buy it.
