This has been a must stop for the past 20 years...I loved going here as a kids and now my own love it!! Best selection of saltwater taffy...bonus when they are making fudge and you can watch!!
In response to a previous post about a misleading map...it is VERY accurate and right on...it IS technically on hwy 51 southbound...however...once in the city...hwy 51 in the downtown district is different...the part labled hwy 51 is a one-way going northbound...and the part labled Oneida street is the one way going southbound...it is still technically hwy 51...but as we all know....a hwy is different once it enters a downtown district.....it makes a big circle so to say...one way begins northbound at the Citgo on the right/bosackis on the left and ends at the area of Concord Hotel/Torpy Park/Breadsmith area....just in case anyone else gets confused!!

We've found the staff to be friendly & the fudge creamy/wonderful... Distressing however that your map is totally inaccurate. You show this business west of town, when it is actually located right downtown Minocqua on southbound US 51.

This is a real tourist spot, but the fudge is good. It has an old-time feel with bins of candy on one side and ice cream in the back. It's heaven for kids, but expensive for the parents.
The big negative is that some employees do not seem very happy. While shopping there, I have seen and heard the woman who is the owner criticizing an employee and not in a constructive way. Maybe that is why you don't get friendly service. There is a protocol if you are buying candy AND fudge, and if you don't know what order to do that in, you might be scolded.

I've been going to Dan's for the better part of 30 years. It has an old-tyme (yes, with a y) feel to it. They have several pots of candy cooking in the front window, which is a really nice touch. As soon as you walk in the front door, the aroma of mmmmmm, candy!! hits you in the face. (in a good way. If you don't think being smacked in the face by candy aroma is a good thing, you might as well stop reading this). My wife and I really enjoy the Bear Claws...they are like turtles, yet the size of, well, a bear's paw. Delicious! The fudge is the best I've had anywhere, and comes in several flavors. I prefer chocolate, but they are all simply awesome. The saltwater taffy is great, and they have a lot of other candies as well. Dan's is a one-of-a-kind, a jewel. Stop in for a treat, I promise you won't be disappointed. (they also ship).

Pros: ohhh, the fudge!

Cons: Was my belt always this tight?
