My husband and I are retired and we go every Monday for our weekly steak treat. My husband gets the all you can eat sirloin and I get a 7 oz. sirloin along with fries, veggies, delicious chicken soup, and I get a dessert with my meal--all for $23.10. Such a deal!! The steaks are absolutely delicious, especially if Eric cooks them. The staff are all friendly and efficient. We go at 2 p.m. when their steak special starts on certain days. We looks forward to it every week. I highly recommend their steak special. That's the only thing we've eaten there so I can't speak for their other food. Call to find out which days have the steak special.

Pros: Service, friendliness, delicious steaks and chicken soup

Cons: parts of the restaurant are a little shabby

First, remembering that on this site "five stars" simply means, ' Yes, I am highly recommending this restaurant' not 'this place beats any haute cuisine joint in which I've ever had the pleasure of dining." Spoiler: if you're a self-proclaimed snob of *any* kind don't come. In fact, I hope I don't see you here because you'll be whining the whole time, ruining everyone else's meal.

Second, "something special" in the review title refers to the unpretentious homey decor and the ambiance of good, hard-working folks with whom you'll share a dining room. "Special" isn't referring to hand folded beggar's purses or a perfect creme Brule; that's a different kind of "special" - however, all are equally deserving of special'ness.

Onward. The Rusty Skillet, (or as my best friend and I call it regularly, throughout the year in-between annual visits, speaking with a silly, mock hybrid accent of French and low-country-American - picture "Deliverance" and "Norma Rae" having a baby and sending it to France for school - we say, "Thee Rustay Skee-Lay" - keeping the final 'et' long and flat as with distinction born of the most sincere hayseed and uptight champagne) has become a MUST on our annual trip to Wisconsin. Mind you we're both well into our 40s but not so far in that we need to worry about chin hairs. Much.

We head *directly* (guided only by the previous year's memory "It's down this street, right...? No, turn HERE!! DAMN! We just passed it! THERE it is!!) to the Rusty Skillet for the very best breakfast you can get. Period. The food's good. (Isn't that what you want to know?) But we don't go here only for the food; we go to be in a place that is simultaneously in the past and the present. We go here to honor our grandparents, and great grandparents; to revisit our childhood family road trips that included, at some point, a meal in a place exactly like this.

The biscuits and gravy kick butt. The portions are more than fair. The wait staff is all heart.

Well, I don't know what 2 of the 3 reviewers up there are talking about, this is one of the best places for breakfast in town! I guess if you are used to the garbage served at McDonalds or IHop this isn't your cup of tea, but personally, I love this place! Everyone I've ever mentioned The Rusty Skillet to has said nothing but good things. Don't listen to the 2 whiners on here, they obviously don't know good food!

Pros: Great Food for Affordable Prices

Cons: Can't think of any

.

Rusty Skillet was not worth my time or money! It was high priced for not only the amount of but also the quality (or lack thereof) of the food. I do not recommend this place.

Pros: There was a way out of the building.

Cons: Too many to list.

.

My family goes there at least once a week. My husband and daughter says they have the best hash, my kids and I say they have the best eggs benedict and my whole family agrees that they have the best chocolate chip pancakes. You will not leave hungry. The staff there is so wonderful!!

Pros: great food

Cons: The eggs benedict does not include pancakes

This was the worst food I've ever eaten in my life. It was cold and just plain terrible. The service there was just as bad! Steer Clear of this one!
