We are lucky to have this type of place available to us in our area. I am even more blessed to live just a few min. from the hospital. On May 23rd 2008 one of our Vizslas was hit by a car in front of our home. Within 15 min we had Simon at the hospital. The staff was great Kind and professional. The started working on him right away. Simon had a collapsed lung and had serious signs of brain swelling and he had a crushed front leg. He was only two years old so we wanted to give him a chance. They flooded his brain with oxygen to help the swelling and taped his lung and re-inflated it. By the next day Simon was still in critical condition but eventually made enough improvement to turn the Doctors attention to the leg. We were told that it was so bad that we should plan on loosing the leg. The problem was the right leg was also damaged (nerve damage or something to do with the brain) The surgeons spent much time to evaluate all the options. It was a week before Simon was strong enough to go through surgery . It was decided that they would try to save the leg but going into surgery they didn't give us much hope. In the end , after more then 5 hours of tedious surgery they put Simon back together again. He wore an external fixture for 12 wks . Today Simon is running around with his new leg like his old self. The Racine veterinary hospital staff and doctors gave Simon his life back and a new leg. We thank everyone that had a part in treating Simon. We are very grateful. Every-time we see Simon run and play or lick our faces , we are reminded of this wonderful facility and the people who work there.

.

Knowledgeable vet, friendly staff, fair prices. I love that you can call ahead to make an appointment becuase my (very large and strong) dog does not mix well with others and sitting around in a waiting room would undoubtedly be a fiasco.
