Anaala on Atwood -

I followed my stylist, Emily from another salon, and it was a definite upgrade! The Aveda products all speak for themselves - amazing, amazing, amazing, and Emily is even better. She has kept me a fabulous platinum blonde for over 2 years with no damage to my hair. I get so many compliments about not only the color but the cut as well. She has taken my cut from classic to edgy and it always looks amazing, she keeps me ahead of the trend. Every time I see her I leave feeling like a supermodel - her work is just awesome!

I don't know why there's so many bad reviews of Ananda / Anaala salon... I've always had great experiences there, and their prices are very reasonable. I've gotten my hair cut there every few months for almost 3 years, and always had a nice, knowledgeable stylist who listened to me and cut my hair well. I can't say much about their spa services since I've never tried anything but hair, but they do hair well.

Ask for Nina -- she's sweet & terrific.

Not a great massage. I told her exactly where I was having pain and she didn't even massage there! Why bother asking me then?! I would spend your money elsewhere.

I got double whammied at this salon (bad color & cut). First, going into the experience I had very blended highlights and just need to update the roots. When she got done with me, I looked like a zebra! Super, super blond chunks next to super, super dark brown chucks. Not only was it so chunky, but very uneven. Next, the cut was the worst I'd EVER received (and there's been a lot of cuts over the years). I just asked for a trim....how hard is that? I ended up with bits & pieces cut out throughout my long hair. I'm talking some pieces were cut within 2 inches of my scalp. I have mid-back length hair...so try to imagine this. When I returned to the salon to show the manager this disaster, she tried to "fix" the color....but, all she could do is just turn me into a total blond. And, as far as the cut....she was floored and could offer me NO solutions. She suggested I wear my hair up in ponytails and buns for awhile.Trust me....I will be living with this terrible cut for the next several years. Save your self the heartache & stay away from this place and/or especially a stylist named Ana.

I have gone to Ananda at Hilldale several times for spa services and have been very impressed. The massages and facials have always been excellent and very reasonably priced and I would definitely recommend them! The atmosphere is very calming and quiet and the facialist and massage therapist took the time to talk to me about my specific needs.
I have only had one hair cut there and it was very good- although it was a basic cut and no color, so I can't speak to that. The price was very reasonable and the stylist did a good job.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a salon near my house. The Ananda website looked very professional and I previously went to an Aveda salon, so I thought I would give them a try. It was the worst salon experience I've ever had. I got to my appointment 5 minutes late because of road construction and no parking by the salon. When I checked in, my stylist took me into the salon, which did not look professional at all. A few small chairs, old hair clippings on the floor, and only two hair wash stations where I had to crawl over another lady to get the the back chair. The stylists didn't listen to what I wanted and gave no advice. When I asked her questions, she could barely form a sentence, just kept saying "I could cut it like this *made a motion with her hands*, you know?" I wanted to walk out, but their policy is that they take a credit card number when you book so that they can charge you if you don't show up, and I didn't want to pay $35 for nothing. After washing my hair she parted it down the middle, and I told her I part it to the side but she said "well I'll just do it down the middle." She tried to make small talk but it was very awkward, and it took her forever to cut my hair, doing it in small little sections. She kept fumbling with the scissors; obviously she was very fresh out of beauty school. Then she asked if I wore my hair straight or curly and I told her I blow dry it straight, and she said "Well since you were 15 minutes late, I'm just going to style it curly.", which meant putting 2 kinds of smelly gel in it and sending me on my way. I don't even know how it's going to look when I rewash and style it myself. I wish I would have read the web reviews before making my appointment and will never be returning to this "salon" again.

I just tried this place and was TERRIBLE. First, when I was explaining my color she was brisk with me, then she let me sat for an hour with my foils in, saying she was going to rinse me "anytime now". Then she did my haircut--it was so amateur and hardly a cut. She basically trimmed my ends and then offered for me to head out with wet hair!! I asked her if she had gone through the layers and she said yes but how could you in less than five minutes. I am accustomed to a full hair cut going through my wet hair, and they drying, and cutting the dry flat ironed hair to precision. She left the sides uneven and I don't even think she cut on one side..
THe color was great, but for $200 bucks I still need a haircut--maybe I will head to great clips, I think they will do a better job.

I've had good services here, but the good people have since left. I've been put with "new" stylists and spa people several times. The last time the woman really messed up my color!! Even after they "fixed" it and I still didn't like it, they wouldn't refund my money. I got a gift card to use there. So I used it on waxing services and again had to go to someone new. Can you say bruises??? I haven't been back since. Poor customer relations and bad attitudes from management.

I recently moved to the area and usually like Aveda salons, so I tried Ananda on Atwood. Although the staff were professional overall, my particular stylist was not very friendly and didn't really consult with me about my hair or listen to my concerns. The result was a mediocre haircut with fringing along my face that I didn't ask for and a lot of greasy product in my hair. This would've been okay with me if I had only paid $20 or so, but I expected a little more for this $35 haircut.

Overally, it wasn't a horrible experience, but I don't plan on going back either. If I do, I might choose a more experienced stylist.

This place has done what other spas try to achieve, very impressive for a! If any Spa deserves the Best Spa crown then it is this. Great massage at only less than $40. Unheard of in any other places. Facial was to die for. and I loved the steam room. The waiting area is relaxing with a variety of teas to choose from and they served Chocolate Fondue for guests. Staff was professional and very helpful. They'll be seeing me every month.
