social networking at FBC
by Vinoo C.
I validate the comments of traci posted 2 years ago re FBC Amery albiet after two years, and she should be applauded for her insight as to what the church is all about . It is not about attracting/enticing people to church with social networks, young attractive women[sans sexual predators which follow], old boys network, fishing and other social networking that goes on in the churches, as she said. I told the old retiring pastor of this FBC church several years ago the haunting words of Jesus Christ, said for all times that
---"Now is the judgement of the world: now shall the prince of the world be cast out, AND IF I be lifted up , will draw all men unto me"-
-You do not need the noise, clatter , the pretty young women,or the networking the churches offer, but a "Christ that is lifted".One attracts , the other is an enticing bait.

...?

I would say that it's one of the better churches I've attended. ^__^ I feel at home here, and as if I make a difference contributing to this church.
...I get along quite well with everyone, surprisingly, considering that I'm one of those self-loathing creepy-loner types. [/half-joking]
And for the first time in my life I know what my spiritual gifts are. Arigatou, Mika-sama!

Don't judge the book by it's cover
by Anonymous P.
From the outside looking in at FBC, it looks like a very warm and appealing church but I know first hand that looks are deceiving. I was a regular attender at FBC for over 2 years. In the beginning the leadership of the church seemed to care about it's body or flock. That is not the case now. Many people have left the church (so there are no longer over a hundred in attendance as the 1st poster wrote. Maybe 70 on a good Sunday) because the lack of compassion from the leaders of the church. I would never recommend anybody to attend this church until they get different leaders. The elders want to get people in the door, but don't do anything to keep them there. That's not a church in my book, or in God's book either. Many people have made suggestions to the elders in how to change things to better the church but they are so stuck in there ways that they 1) Don't care, 2) Don't like change or 3) Don't want to do the will of God.
PROS: Have a lot of men's outreaches and outings.
CONS: Lack of compassion and mercy to those in need.

I'm not the best FBC church attender in the world...
by traci a.
I love the people...however, the church has undergone change...and it is not for the good. The leadership has changed...and long-faithful members have been hurt by this.
FBC has been using much 'Purpose Driven' material along with small group studies. There is no longer need to carry a bible...all the verses are on a powerpoint screen.
I have lovingly tried to bring up some issues I have with with Rick Warren's teachings...and was rebuked...loudly.
Pastor Charley Butt has avoided any kind of conversation with me since the beginning. I'm no longer a young attractive girl....I'm not a teenager....or hunting, fishing good ole' boy. Oh well.
Pros- Pastor Marion Adams is a very caring man. I love his visits and he helped ALOT when my grandpa was dying in the hospital...he showed up sometimes three times a day to pray with us and give comfort.
The elder, Darcy Lorsung has a gift of mercy...he is a compassionate man...however, I think he is now caught up in all these changes and cannot see how these changes are hurting people.

Just because a church might only average slightly over a hundred congregants a week doesn't mean that they are doing something wrong. The pastoral staff and congregation of FBC does an exemplorary job of warmth and welcoming to visitors.
PROS: warm family
CONS: none
