The Scene
Downstairs, it's similar to the faux-antique Irish pubs that are popping up everywhere. Upstairs, the dining experience is quiet, dark and stylish. With just a candle lighting each table, reading the short menu can be a challenge. Service is friendly and any questions will be answered.

The Food
Start off with mussels for a tasty treat: The mussels are plump and drizzled in a creamy garlic-wine sauce. (Note: It's a rather skimpy portion for the price.) All the main courses are authentically prepared and served with flair. Shepherd's pie arrives in a metal bucket--thick, beefy stew topped with mashed potatoes. Corned beef and cabbage is also a winner, with corned beef sliced thin and buttery soft. Try a boxty for something different--it's an Irish burrito, but instead of a tortilla, your filling (some variation on beef and mushrooms, usually) is wrapped in a large potato pancake.

Key Points

  • Sports Bar
  • Live Music
  • Lunch and Dinner

The Inside Scoop

  1. Look Good - Be sure to order dessert. Choices usually include a brownie (topped with Guinness-laced ice cream), bread pudding and cheesecake. All are big enough for several people to share.

What can I say? Do you like awesome service, great music, and even better food. This is all at Mo's Irish Pub. I go there every couple of days for lunch and or eveining the live music on the weekend is incredible and always something different, and they even know how to pour a perfect pint of guinness. The bartenders are the best and always know how to keep the party going...you haven't been to an Irish Pub until you have been to MO's

This is an upscale bar that serves good food that is moderately priced.
There is a good variety of selections on the menu, including good vegetarian selections and some seafood.
It is a fun atmosphere and service is pretty good.

Good Food, Bad Management!

by gallywog

The food was good and our waitress was very nice, but very busy, not her fault! We got off to the wrong foot with this place. Coming from Chicago, I called ahead so we could have seating for 12 of us. I had "reserved" a room for our party of 12, someone from the place called to confirm the reservation, when asked if I needed to pay a deposit to hold the room, I was told no that they weren't busy it wasn't necessary. We were running a little late for our reservation, so I called to notify them and it wasn't a problem. When we got to Mo's, not only was our room taken, but it was like we were putting them out, by setting up a table for 12 of us!! When we finally sat, the hostess said a manager would be right over to talk to us. Well dinner came and went and we saw no manager. When our bill came I asked the waitress was the manager coming over to speak to us and she just gave me a deer in the headlight look. Finally, a manager came over and he was rude, plain and simple. He was very defensive and told me it was our fault for not booking the room & that we should of paid a deposit to reserve it. I explained my situation to him and he eventually said fine we'll take the appetizers off the bill! It was like I was asking him for his ATM and PIN number. I guessing this guy must of missed his hospitality class when taking mangement classes!! We never asked for anything to be compensated for, an apology would have done. Needless to say none of us will be in a hurry back!

NOT ON THE WEEKEND

by ttjjames

I do like to come here when there is nothing else going on downtown (concert, Bucks etc.) or on weeknights because if you come here on the weekend or when something is going on downtown GOOD LUCK. Parking is a pain, you will have to wait to be seated and you won't have a place to sit at the bar (these seats will be taken too) you will be reaching over people trying to get your drink. Once you are seated if you are downstairs you will have to deal with the loud band that they have playing on certain nights (as of last time I was there ~ Sept 06) and all the loud people at the bar, and if they seat you upstairs it generally is SO very hot. Thirdly the waitstaff is generally so busy you don't recieve the best of service, not that they do anything wrong, its just they are too busy to take care of all of their tables or so it seems. The food is good though and if you go when it isn't so packed and crowded it is a good time, just not on the weekends.

Pros: Can be fun, nice bar

Cons: Parking, loud, drink prices

Fun in the city

by foodfreak44

I really loved this place. It had excellent Pub food and a great assortment of beers. The live music was also very good. It has a friendly feel to it and is not too small or not too big. I also liked the TVs so I could watch sports. Fun, fun.

Pros: A good time had by all

Amazing Music, High Energy, Great Food!!!

by robkoch

Young buisness professional to baby boomer nearing the hill Mo's has got your number. Mo's provides the CLEANEST pub atmosphere I have ever been in. They have amazing food with a decent selection, and their salads are the best I have ever had at a pub in my life. With two stories, this is an amazing location with many different options so you can have a wild night with your friends or a quiet time away from the kids. It's proximity to the legendary Mo's Steakhouse and Mo's Cucina (Their Italian resaturant) do not hurt at all because it provides you with real options in how you want to spend your evening.

The very best part is the music. Their house band is without a doubt one of the best cover bands in Milwaukee and they bring consistent variety every night they are on stage. From Wednesday to Saturday you can hear anything from traditional Irish tunes to REM and David Gray. The cost? Free. It is the only Free live music venue that is open every week for that many days in the state. Never been to Mo's? Time to try! Tried and been unsatisfied? Time to go back. Mo's Irish Pub is the night spot for anyone who doesn't want bumping techno and hip hop, but still wants to have a great time.

Pros: Live Music, Food Quality and Service with a Smile!

Great Live Music!

by saraj1234

We stopped into Mo's Irish pub after a huge meal at Mo's steakhouse, who knew they had live music? The band was great! They played fun traditional irish songs and modern rock that you can sing along to.

Pros: live music, great beer

Stylised seating upstairs, nice ambience

by coolcat2005

Beat the crowd downstairs and head upstairs. Try and get a table in the small stylistic room overlooking Wisconsin Avenue. The decor is dark and elegant, the book cases on the walls contain inumerable Reader's Digest selections, and the view looking out of the window is great. You can watch a lot of the upbeat Milwaukee crowd walk past as you enjoy dinner.
The menu for late-nighters is fairly limited, keeping with the Irish style. Vegetarians are severely handicapped. The potato wedges are traditional Irish and recommended.
A word of caution. If you want to use the restrooms, during the rush bar hours, be prepared for a long wait since they are very limited.

Pros: Ambience, Room with a view, Potato wedges

Cons: , Busy waiters
