I read the other reviews and was surprised. I've lived in Cleveland, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Dallas and love to eat! Albanese's has become one of my favorite restaurants. I eat there almost every week now. Not ONLY for the amazing food. And yes it is amazing! Everything I have ordered or tried has been excellent! The house wine included. But the staff is great too. Sure a little "Cantankarous" BUT, the owner is ALWAYS there, and I have never had a problem "waiting" for a table or my food. It's a family run restaurant, and not a High Dollar trendy italian fusion joint. So come for the "charm" of being served by REAL people, at a spot where there is history! I suggest this restaurant to everyone, and if you LOVE Italian food, this will be your new piece of heavan!!! Thanks Albanese's!!!

I enjoy this place so much I even wrote a review!! (that's a first for me, but I think they are worth it!!!!!)

Pros: Amazing food, great prices, consistant, and the House Wine is good too.

I agree with the obtuse/abusive waitress comment. The pasta was pretty good for me (gnochi w/ marinara) and pretty bad for my girl friend (alfredo). The place is crazy stinky though. There is no way around it. I am sure the July humidity doesn't help, but neither did the huge "fresh cotton" candle they were using to cover it up (it was burning next to our table). And personality traits aside, the waitress was smoking cigarettes at the bar while waiting for our food to come up (while we stared at it waiting to be picked up) and there was definitely no quick pump of hand sanitizer. All these little eccentricities (if you can call them that) can be negated with some good home cooked italian. What we got just didn't fall under that catagory. The zucchini sticks seemed like something out of the freezer. I really love hole in the wall, family owned, been there forever establishments. This one is definitely hole in the wall, family owned, and been there forever. I am guessing that the rent in this out of the way place is extremely cheap, and that the quality of food isn't what has kept them there. Head to the calderone club instead.

When visiting from Denver, I always have to eat at Alabanese's- the one on Keefe. The pasta is fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and the prices can't be beat. If you frequent the Olive Garden and live in a feaux-stucco subdivision of identical houses, don't go there because you're lame and you won't like it. Otherwise, Albanese's can not be beat. Go early if you have kids as it is a bar as well.

Pros: excellent pasta

The service can be slow and the waitress can be anywhere from obtuse to downright abusive. But the home made pasta is just great, and the red wine tastes just fine with their meals. Good pizza too. I also like that Wisconsin Tavern atmosphere.

Another negative is sometimes the wait is too long.
