After reading the reviews I am mad I didn't check them out before! My daughter took a bridesmaid dress here to be altered and they messed it up so bad she had to have it done again. She took to it to another seamstress and she stated that work was so shoddy that she wasn't sure if it could be fixed. I am wondering how they stay in business???

i took my leather jacket in to get patches sewed on at first i walked in the door i smelled cigarette smoke and right away i knew this was my kind of store. so i proceeded to walk in and there was this cute little dog named victor WOW what a name ! i got to the counter the lady came up to me i told her what i wanted and she pinned em on my jacket right where i wanted them. all the while, while i was smoking a marlbro red. i came back a day later patchers were PERFECT! i give this place a 10 out of 10 in my book.

ps: ROCK ON ELLIE!

I had recently picked up my black and white blouse from the dry cleaners and noticed that the collar was torn. I had driven by Alterations by Ellie many times and decided to drop off my blouse there. Upon walking in the door the smell of cigarettes and wet dog were immediately noticed (her dog was chained to a leash at the entrance of the store). I wanted to turn around and leave and I'm not quite sure why I didn't. I dropped off my black and white blouse which has existing BLACK stitching throughout. When I picked it up, she had sewn the blouse with white thread on a black area; I'm sure so that she wouldn't have to take the time to switch the thread. The stitching was sloppy and the ends of the threads were never trimmed. The blouse smelled so bad that I immediately had to return to the dry cleaner and have it re-cleaned.
I would never use Alteration by Ellie again or recommend it to anyone.

Went this place to have a Ralph Lauren woal coat altered because it was a size too big. The coat was purchased for an awesome deal at a thrift store so I was willing to spend the extra cash for alterations. I walked into the store with coat in hand and the seamstress did not even bother to get off of her seat to greet me at the counter. I inquired on the cost of altering the coat, stating it was too big. The seamstress commentted and asked why I would buy a coat that was too big and then turned to her partner and answered her own question stating I probably stole it. It was so extremely rude and wrong. I told her nevermind and said I could find someone else to do it and walked out. Please note this happened 3 years ago and I still recall the impudence of that seamstress.

I recently had my dress altered at Ellie's. The first thing when you walk in the door is the smell of cigarettes. The place looks messy as well. That should have been a sign, but I was not thinking. My dress was altered and poorly altered. There was a hole in the side of the dress, the hips were uneven, and she just gathered the fabric and sewed it to take it in rather than making a slit and sewing it together, so there was two knobs poking in my back. I was not impressed and will never return.

I went to this business to have patches sewn onto the sleeves of my nursing program uniform and I would not go back there. They were nice enough to do it for me right away, but as the woman sewed the second patch on I heard her yell out as she pricked her finger with a pin. Just as she finished I heard her say that she had gotten blood on it.
Obviously it isn't uncommon for a seamstress to prick her finger, but the fact that the woman did an awful job of trying to get the blood out (it looked like she had done nothing at all) and neither of the women working mentioned anything about it to me is unacceptable. The only reason why I knew it had happened is that I was sitting right there waiting.
I went home to bleach it out.
I would not recommend this store to anyone that wants work on their clothing done with care.

Recently I needed a suit jacket sleeves altered. One gal stuck a couple pins in the cuff and told me when the jacket would be ready. But it was done wrong. I took it back, she looked at it said they would redo it but the seamstress almost insisted we shorten the wrist length sleeves to elbow length. NO NO NO!
I spent $18 to have the sleeves adjusted, I was not happy with the result and had to make 3 trips to this store for satisfaction.
