Ward-Brodt education is top notch. My son has been taking guitar for several years and has had a fantastic experience and I've never been treated with anything but respect with regards to rescheduling or billing. The rest of the store has certainly suffered the effects of the Internet era. Their selection of electronics, guitars, drums and pianos is a shadow of what it used to be and their print music selection is extensive but also reduced from what it used to be. Everyone wants things available locally but then they don't hesitate to order online to save a buck. Hopefully Ward-Brodt will enjoy continued success with lessons and rentals.

I think only one instructor comes from a trained music background. My child was actually taught incorrectly how to hold drumsticks. The heavy set girl at the front counter looked stoned. Not cool

I recently took about 3 months of guitar lessons at Ward-Brodt and had a really great time! My teacher was fantastic. He seemed really knowledgeable and willing to go at my pace. (which was a good thing for me!) The prices were very competitive and the staff was friendly and helpful. I think I would definitely go back for more lessons when I have the time.

Ward Brodt has made a series of business model choices over the past several years that have resulted in greatly reduced selection in almost all areas of the store. They now offer many fewer band and orchestra instruments for sale than they used to. Their department of electronic music - guitars, amps, cables, speakers, etc. - is now crammed into a section that used to hold guitar music; there is so little selection remaining that it is not worth shopping here. They no longer sell pianos at all. But by far the worst hurt Ward Brodt has done itself is in its print music sections. Whole departments of music are now gone entirely. Unless you want to buy a popular instruction book, you will most likely not find the music you want on the shelves. They will try to order it for you - but why let them take their markup? You will do better to buy music on line. The only department in the store that is growing is the knicknacks - music T-shirts, greeting cards, paperweights, and other such junk. It is a shame, but we can do nothing but mourn the passing of a once-great music store.

Ward Brodt has everything a musician needs, sheet music, instruments & parts, instrument repair, lessons, practice rooms even music themed decor. If they don't have it they work to get it for you. As a trumpet player, wife of a trombone player, mom of an oboe player and future drummer, we have made great use of Ward Brodt's services. I only wish they were closer to Middleton.

This place is located right of the beltline, right near the American's and Culvers. The prices here aren't the best, but they have a good selection of instruments. I bought a drum set here and have no complaints. They also offer many books that show you how to play your instrurment of choice, and they can offer lessons too.
