Went here for Mother's day and loved it. Sat down and was served a complimentary antipasto plate with delicious cheeses, meats and a tasty garbanzo salad. There were four of us and my mother in law had shrimp scampi (large and delicious), husband had a veal chop (he ate the entire thing and it was huge, came with spicy potatoes) and i had a pork special. it was rolled port with melted cheese with peppers and olives. To die for. We all had home-made soup, salads and giant baked potatoes came with ourmeals. It was refreshing to not see everything ala carte like most fine dining restaurants. Wine was reasonably priced and we had two dishes of spumni icecream for dessert (though the waitress brought a cute plate of complimentary mints and gumdrops. Adorable, quaint and classy place. Cozy. Service was great, too. We loved it and will be returning!
All I can say is this: If this is considered old world Italian, then I'm not interested....
We came here on word of mouth and for an anniversary. We were seated quickly and were served antipasti quickly. It was a good touch I've not experienced in other Italian restaurants.
Everything went poorly from there. The menu was drastically overpriced. There were however, many choices and they seemed interesting. Well, how can you mess up sauteed chicken, peppers and onions?? I'd have to ask the cook staff there. It arrived lukewarm (I don't need to lie, the experience is true) and my fiance's lasagna (very overpriced) was cool in the center. Why....??? It was Saturday and it wasn't that busy there. We would've complained but the snobby waitress paid more attention to a large party behind us (for obvious reasons) and when she finally did come back, she brought the bill but never asked how everything was. I figured she could've deduced we weren't pleased by the amount of bad food left on our plates.
Sorry, folks. Not at all impressed. I have had MUCH better. It's sad too, I was hoping for a real Italian experience here but we didn't get it at all. Go to Maggiano's Little Italy.... it's a small chain nationwide but the food was 10 stars easy and the prices for the quality and quantity destroy Caterinas, hands down.
Bad un cooked food and terrible service come here. We gave this place 2 shots and both times were terrible experiences. Cold food and when we asked to have it "cooked", the waitress smarted off. Then we asked for a manager each time and was told they would be right there & never showed up. We & our friends will NEVER be back.

My husband took me to Caterina's for our anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful in making entree selections. There were a variety of specials, including fresh fish, ribs, and pork chops. The only drawback was a somewhat limited wine list, but that would not prevent me from returning. The price was also very reasonable, given the price of downtown establishments.
THE GREATEST BUT,
kashe review, must be a real moro...[a real piece of work, if you know what I mean] Everyone knows that whenever you go for the fine dining that this is the place to go for the best! I have been going here 28 years and never ever ever was I disappointed. All my friends rave about this place too. I think I know who this person
kashe is and I could tell a tale you just would kring, I actually think I encountered the moro.. but the best thing is that he will never go back to complain again! I will be eating another great meal this coming Friday night..........
I've been going to Caterina's for years and everytime I go I am always impressed with the service and the food. I love the atmosphere and how I am treated. I feel as though I am part of the family. I've read some of the other reviews and it is obvious that the people who gave it only one star do not know what they are talking about. The food is always fresh and made to order. There are over 100 wines to choose from and the sauces are always prepared fresh and not from a jar.
Caterina's is owned and operated by a father and son duo and if there is a problem one of them is always there to resolve it. Unlike all the chain restaurants, you definitely feel the difference of it being family owned. You get more than you pay...from the complimentary antipasta, soup and salad, to your side order of pasta with your meal you will not find that anywhere else. All other places charge a la carte prices whereas everything is included in the price at Caterina's.
I discovered Caterina's by mistake and have become a lifetime customer. It truly is Milwaukee's best kept secret!!
Pros: Best food in town
The food here is absolutely delicious. I always end up taking my "leftovers" home because I can't go there without also ordering appetizers: calamari is the best I've ever had----eggplant strips are sensational----clams
are the "real-deal"! We celebrate every special occasion at Caterina's - and the staff always makes it
extra "special". They always remember you and treat you like "family".......Now - "THAT'S ITALIAN" !
Pros: Great atmosphere; fun place to spend an evening!
We have been dining at Caterina's for many years - and have never been disappointed. Mom's favorite is the fettucini alfredo.....Dad always looks forward to the veal dishes...."my Honey" has always insisted on the linguini with chicken livers - (but has recently discovered
the chicken & pork chops calabrese - and now is always in a quandary as to which entree to order!!)....
and I love EVERYTHING on the menu...!!!!
The service has always been friendly and helpful - even during busy times. You've not experienced authentic Italian food & hospitality until you've experienced Caterina's!!!!
Pros: Best Italian Restaurant in town!
Very friendly service and we were greated warmly and seated immediately. Reservations are a good idea. The bone in tenderloin was outstanding and the side order of fettucini alfredo was great. Our calamari appetizer was one of the best I have had in Milwaukee! My wife had mussels marinara. Sweet and tasty but not to heavy on the garlic flavor. Our waitress , Shane, was outstanding and took great care to be sure we were comfortable and well fed. Nice wine list with some great Amaroni's. Eating at Caterina's is like having dinner at a friend's house. We will go back to sample more of their menu.
Pros: Atmosphere and authentic Italian Food
Cons: Occasional smoker at the bar.
Quite possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. I ordered their seafood special for the evening, which ended being overcooked halibut drowning in ragu sauce. My wife ordered linguine and clams. The pasta was undercooked and cold and the only medley of tastes the dish conjured was salty and saltier. I've had better food at the olive garden. However, what really got my goat was the service and the price. Our waitress was outright rude, coming to our table twice the whole meal- once to get our order and the second time to bring us our check. We paid about $60 for 2 plates of heaping garbage.
Cons: Price, service, food quality
Their veal dishes are just delicious. The pasta in garlic butter is great, although occassionaly not as hot as it should be. Service, overall, is very fine. Their mozzarella marinara is generous and very tasty.
Pros: Food, Service
The food here if phenomenal, but a bit pricey. It is completely worth it. Don't expect to spend any less than $15.00 per plate. The service here is top notch, and the staff is wonderful. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Milwaukee area.
Pros: Excellent food, Great Service
