5 Stars: Milwaukee Auto Works (by Casey D.)

We could shop all over town to see who is offering the latest deal on auto repair, but we would not save a dime when it??s all said and done. In the years that we have been bringing our automobiles to Milwaukee Auto Works, you have been fair in your pricing. You have never tried to "sell" more repair than was needed. Thank you, you guys are the greatest!

5 Stars: we were that close to spending $2,000 for sth that was ok (by Darlene I.)

They are honest and do great work. Recently my son's car wasn't starting properly. He went to a garage near his apartment in Milwaukee. He was told that his car needed $2,000 of work and that driving his car would be extremely dangerous. I told my son to wait and let me call Milwaukee Auto Works. Nick, the owner volunteered to help in anyway. Although suspicious of the "diagnosis," he called the dealer and found out that even if they were correct it was way overpriced. Since I didn't trust the Miami garage, I had my son's car towed to Milwaukee Auto Works that very day. It turned out that the car only needed a new starter and the other garage was dishonest. Needless to say I am grateful for the Bob's help, honesty, and excellent workmanship.

5 Stars: Auto Repair (by Jason D.)

Great place! Take my Xterra their for repairs after accident, perfect job! Runs like it did before the accident, and was $,$$$ less then taking it to the dealer. Also had my grandparents Lincoln in for AC repair, very reasonable and in timely manor. My grandfathers Focus though, was in horrible shame (grandpa cheeped out on some repairs at another shop), Jim's/Milwaukee Auto Works got it all fixed up. Once again, very reasonable and runs great now!

1 Stars: Go Somewhere Else. (by T J.)

My husband and I had used this mechanic on several occasions. We found them to be convenient and not altogether thorough. Convenient won out though, until recently.

I brought my car in when ABS and brake lights came on, paid $300, drove away with ABS and brake lights still on. They performed unauthorized repairs to sway bar links and added gear lube to the transmission. Never got a call to ok this.

I had a problem with paying $300 for repairs that didn't fix the problem, first, and I was never notified about, second. Not being told before repairing you car is illegal, by the way. Good piece of information to have if you go to Jim's.

After being yelled at by the owner it was clear that this shop lacks communication not only with customers but also between the guy who mans the phone and the mechanics. The owner who represented his business by berating me had no idea that the repairs weren't authorized. He also was told to fix a noise when I had clearly asked them to look into the ABS problem.

After listening to his tirade and accusations I received a full refund and the motivation to find a new mechanic.

1 Stars: Same story as Djones (by by dlarkin42 at Citysearch)

Like many others have written in their reviews, I really don't believe these guys deserve the "One Star Rating" I gave them, but I had to enter something...

I had almost the exact same experience. My car died at a SuperAmerica on a Friday and I couldn't roll up the windows or lock it --alternator died (I hid the key on the passenger floor). I called at noon ("Not here, yet" I was told) and then at 4:30 ("No. I don't know why we don't have it, but the towing service said it will be here soon".) I drove down to their place at 5:10 in my wife's car and it was locked up and empty. They promised me they would call me and let me know what was gong on...

Knowing the extremely bad security conditions, I went and got it myself. Did the work myself and fixed it.

I was going to go down and harrass them about this, but they are not worth my time. They shouldn't be worth yours, either.

1 Stars: Jim's Auto Ctr is sucktastic! (by D J.)

My car broke down on the way to summerfest last Sunday. I called Jim's Monday morning around 10:30, they offered to pick up my keys and tow it. After 6 hours of waiting and being told they were on there way still nothing. I get home from work and still nothing, so I decide to walk the keys down. When I get there the guy says they came to the door and no one answered which was impossible, he said they were going to tow it without a key and he would look at it in the morning. I left reassured, but questioning my decision to go with Jims. My wife on her way home from school at 10pm see??s that our car is still on the side of the road! So I had to have it towed to my house to avoid the city of Milwaukee towing it, luckily I had a spare key. My wife called Jeff??s automotive on Nicholson in Cudahy; they had it picked up in 20 mins. In the end Jim??s only had excuses and no sense of responsibility which is a terrible way to do business. Never. Again.

1 Stars: Don't take your car here (by by Jack80 at Citysearch)

This place deserves zero stars. It took them a day and a half to do 20 minutes of work. Had to call them 5 times just to get an update of what was going on with my car. Didn't provide an estimate right away. They don't seem to to know what the hell they're doing or how to run a business. You're better off at a big-name mechanic shop. You might pay more, but it won't take them nearly 2 days to replace one simple part.

1 Stars: Not trustworthy. (by by akitten at Citysearch)

We took our car there for a simple oil leak. We got it back the next day and it was smoking under the engine and the smell through the vents was terrible. We took it back, they said they fixed it, and when we left there to drive it to work, it broke down before we even got there. (This car has NEVER broken down on us, I don't know if it was just coincidence or what). They came to tow it back and later that day said they looked at it and it wouldn't die for them and they didn't know what was wrong.
Two days later, it broke down again. They came to tow it again (so this is the FOURTH time we've been there). They found that when they replaced whatever they replaced for the oil leak the FIRST time, the mechanic "must have accidentally" cracked the piece, so they began re-repairing what we brought it there for in the first place. I called before they closed again to see if they figured out why it was dying and the owner said no. I asked if they could keep it overnight and try to figure it out the next day to which they redily agreed.
So, the next day, we called every two hours to see if they figured it out (because they never seemed to call us when they found something out) and they told us it was running fine for them, they drove it on the freeway and in the city, and it was fine. So, that night, we said we'd pick it up and they were going to leave the key in the car so we could pick it up after they closed. Now, the night before, it had snowed. We got there, and the key wasn't anywhere. Also, the car had snow all over it and there were no tire tracks behind the car in the snow from the night before. So, when they said they drove it all day, they lied because the car hadn't been moved at least since the night before.
We were so upset, we asked him to pay half the price of the rental car we had to get, which he did, and we're never going there again. We took the car somewhere else and in less than twenty minutes, they figured out what was wrong with the car.
