.

We took our 3 year old son to see this dentist. The 1st visit went very well, he said my son had one cavity but not to worry yet, it could wait. Six months later, we went back (note: to his new, extremely EXPENSIVE office) and it was a whole new experience. They insisted that my son's mouth was a cavity-filled mess and that the ONLY option was surgery under general anesthesia. They would not even give my child a chance to do the fillings under local anesthesia. Knowing the risks of general anesthesia, I protested but they shoved myself and my husband into a small room and pushed us to set up the appointment immediately, stating that they "do it all the time" (a statement that scared me in itself, that this is common practice to them). They also told us the cost would be close to $6000 and they knew that our insurance would not cover most of it, but insisted it had to be done. I left there a sobbing mess.

A phone call to another dental office changed all this and my son has sat through 2 sets of fillings so far at a different dentist under local anesthesia without so much as a tear. Stay FAR AWAY from this dentist unless you like having your child (and your pocketbook) subject to unnecessary risks. Call the Dental Clinic of Marshfield and make an appointment with Dr. Paul Bruce instead. You won't regret it. He isn't even a pediatric dentist, but he is the nicest person and my 3 year old LOVES him!

PROS: NONE!
CONS: Will push to have your child's dental care done in an operating room!
