Back in 2007, we took our dog in after he collapsed in our living room. We had to wait a little bit, only because they had an emergency case come in just before us. When they took him in back and asked us what happened, we explained that he just collapsed and started to whine like he was in pain. That was on Aug 6. We came in the next day to see what our options were, and when the explained that he had a mass in his heart valve, and fluid around his lungs and liver, and said that at best it surgery could give him maybe a few more yrs, to only a few months. We decided the best thing to do was to put him to sleep, but not until the next day. That same night around 11:30, they called us saying that he had had another episode. We knew he wouldn't hold on til the morning, so we said we would be there soon. At 12:10 Aug 9, Brutus went to sleep. We had him cremated, so we would come back to get his ashes. A few days after he was put down, we received a card in the mail from them saying they were sorry about our loss.

I had to take my 11 year old cat to AEC, yesterday. He was in significant distress because of bowel impaction. The staff took great care of him, called me with updates all day. He is home, sleeping on the couch, looking, to me, as the most comfortable cat in the world. I just want to say "Thank you". This had to have been a difficult issue to resolve. To the staff who did the hard work, you have my undying respect. I give 5 stars.

Caring Staff! I have used this facility four times in the past three years. I drive 45 miles to use them. The closest Animal Emergency Center in my area can not compete with the care that this facility gives. Dr. Hawk is great as well as the other Vets. I only wish they would add an Internal Medicine Dr. and well as a Surgeon. You can stay with your sick pet if they are kept overnight and everyone from the front desk receptionist to the technicians in the back room are great. You can call anytime without feeling like your imposing or being a bother. They call and keep you informed of your pets condition. I have had two cats which required stays and when I went home I felt confident that my animals were being watched over with care. They are great!

So many positive experiences...my pom has suffered an injury that severed the achilles tendon in her hind leg, took her to Bayshorevet Clinic Vet first, having been there before and having satisfactory experiences (not wonderful, not bad- though eventually stopped going there when a torn nail on one of my dogs ended up in a toe amputation of which I wasn't informed of prior) who said she needed a vet with more experience and sent me across town to Advanced Animal Hospital (his friend)- this vet didn't know what the heck he was doing, put in disposable stitches (found out later tendons take MONTHS to heal and this was severed completely!) so 10 days later she was lame again...returned and he said if that didn't work, that was all that could be done. Luckily I didn't give up and took her to St Paul Vet Clinic (who have been a great clinic for decades, though better before they moved and where more geared towards helping people afford their animal's care..."the Working Man's Vet", now they are more like the other clinics, but still a good place to go) who realized they did not have the extensive knowledge required and sent me to Animal Emergency Center, where she was seen by the ortho vet Dr King, who did surgery, placing over 6 pins to secure two halos to her tiny little leg bones (she weighed only 8lbs) and after a couple of months she had that removed and wore a splint for a couple more but after that, she had regains 100% normal function!!!!! And they never do unnecessary testing and such, and their prices are very reasonable!
When my other dog was run over by a car, they were very honest and compassionate about his prognosis and his probable quality of life even if he did survive...they very never hurried or impatient while I had to make the choice to let him go and end his suffering, they let us sit with him as long as we wanted in a comfortable private room after giving pain medication to make him comfortable, waited until I was ready for the end and came to the room where I was holding to administer the shot, never asking me to let go until he was gone and I was ready. All the staff was so compassionate, and I received a card later,...additionally they made a plaster cast of his footprint for me.
They are the best place to go for any pet and any reason. I will always have a place in my heart for all their wonderful staff and will continue to go there always.

When my cat was hospitalized, we, his human family, was encouraged to visit. One morning my mom (his grandma) came to visit and during the visit, the vet overseeing Harley's care (for that shift) spent time with her to explain how Har's night was and what tests they were running. Cannot tell you how much it meant to my mom (and me!) that she was welcomed and filled in by the vet. Believe me - the vet was gracious when she repeated everything when she and I spoke.

I have nothing but good things to say about this staff! Every single vet i spoke with (and being 24hrs i was able to call at all hours) was familiar with my dog's case and was able to speak about it immediately, without relying on case files to refresh their memory. The maintenence man taking care of the floor even extended sympathy and encouragement when my puppy was diagnosed with a terminal illness. When I called every single vet I spoke with made time for me and let me ask as many questions as I wanted, without making me feel rushed. And I LOVE how itemized their bill is at the end, and how they give you a brokendown timeline of your pet's stay, cure, diagonis and varying vetenarians thoughts and opinions. The only down side is the rather high cost and they credit card they offered before used to give you a year interest free to pay off a balance over $1000, but now it's been knocked down to 6mon.

I've had two cats go through major surgeries at this emergency center. They are extremely kind, thorough in their diagnosis and keep you well-informed. They have generous visitation hours and make it comfortable for you to visit with your companion animal. The waiting room is very comfortable and the exam rooms are cute and very clean. They even had a staff member passing out snacks to those waiting once when I was there! I cannot recommend them highly enough. One of my cats, then a kitten, swallowed a piece of stretchy plastic "barbed-like" tinsel during Christmas time. It got caught in his intestines. It was major surgery. They did an excellent job. It is now more than one year later and he is a very happy and rambuncious cat. Love the staff. Very professional. They also call to check up on their patients when you bring them home. Somewhat expensive, but if you want what is best for your pet, this is a great facility.

One of my young cockatiels broke her leg. My vet recommended taking her to the clinic. They didn't fix her leg until 1 a.m. and we arrived at 5:30 p.m. Dogs who were bitten by other dogs were cared for first. When I picked the bird up the next day I explained I needed to get home right away to feed baby cockatiels. They made me wait 2 hrs. to bring her to me. They didn't do a good splint job, and if I hadn't taken her to my vet she would have lost the leg.

Opened 24 hours!!!!!!!!! The staff is really caring toward your animals. I have experience with taking my cats and dogs there. They were very helpfu. If you need a place to take your loved pet to and feel like if they are getting the best attention and medication out there, this is definetly the place for him or her to go to. The people treating your pet are so gentle to the animals they really know how to cure an animal in the most loving way. It gives the pet owner comfort truly in knowing that your loved animal is getting the attention it needs from these vets and are really going to be healthy since they actually know for a fact what they are doing. The place was very clean and the staff seemed very knowledgeable.Recommend it overall... . this is the place for every pet owner out there.

I have had to call them plenty of times late at night for advice and just last month had to bring in a cat. They are helpful, supportive and get in the pet in very quickly. The quality of care was very high and the vet was great. I did however, after the weekend was over, transfer my cat to his regular vet because it is pricey. It will run you around three times the amount here than at a regular clinic, but if it an emergency, it's worth it!

PROS: open twenty four hours everyday, great service
CONS: more expensive than other vets
