If you don't like to spend a lot of money on books or magazines, this is the place to go. They also will pay you for your old books. Not a lot, but it's better than nothing.

We enjoy this bookstore very much. The staff is very helpful to find those more rare books. They also have computer games, CDs, calendars, and new books.

I love going here for my Reading pleasure. Where else can you get up to date books at half the price. They even take your old books and give you money. Excellent.

Ok, this store rocks! Unlike Barnes & Noble, Borders or any of it's competitors, Half Price Books employees have a wealth of knowledge on every possible subject...and all you have to do is ask. They will smile and actually lead you to the section you are looking for, not just point. I have also sold here many times and I have gotten awesome offers sometimes and not so awesome offers at other times. I have never been offered something unreasonably low, considering they knock off their profit margin by at least half what Barnes and Noble would get for that book. And you also have to consider the fact that they buy thousands of items every day, and are taking a risk that those items will sell. Ask any employee and they will tell you that they recycle thousands of books that never sold every week...and they pay for the privilege! So, if they tell you they have 8 copies of one of your books, you know that not only do they have to pay you for yours, they paid for all the others, and they also have to pay to get rid of it. You also have to consider they have to pay the employee to go through your books. No, you aren't going to get tons of money back for your old stuff, but you are getting rid of it and walking out with cash. They also never turn merchandise away...so you don't have to drag anything back home with you! Other CD stores, by comparison, may pay more for each CD they buy off of you, but they can turn down 20 of your CDs because they already have copies! If you hate to wait selling your stuff, avoid going on a weekend as they are inundated with tons of buys already, and the wait will be huge. Not really a place to go expecting they'll have a list of specific books you're hunting down, but worth a try. If you are just looking for entertainment (books, cds, dvds, vhs, lps, cassettes, books on tape, etc)this is a great place to go!

PROS: huge stock, constantly changes, friendly, knowledgable, helpful staff
CONS: are there any??

I really enjoy shopping this store, they have lots too choose from, new and used. I have never left this store empty handed. The staff is surprisingly, very knowlegeable. They WILL find the book you are looking for.

I want to comment on the don't sell your CD's, and books comment another reviewer made. I have sold here, in my early adulthood, and sometimes left thinking '"four bucks, thats it?"
I realized later, it was just that the staff KNOW what sells and what does not, they are fair and resonable for selling, IMO.

If you want to buy a book on cooking, but you don't want to go and pay full price, then go here. They carry books, magazines, CDs, all at half the price tey use to be. Don't sell here though, because they buy your books, cds, etc for cheap. A few weeks ago I brought in 9 used cds and got about 4 dollars for them.

PROS: good prices
CONS: buy for cheap

This bookstore has a wide selection of books, software, cds, records, etc. The selection is slightly smaller than the Greenfield store -- but it's always different. If you're looking for a place to browse for books, this is the place. Always check here before going to Barnes & Noble. The prices are great!

PROS: price
CONS: hard to find specific books sometimes

Half-price books is exactly what it sounds like. On most books a price is listed - at Half-price Books, your charge is exactly half of the full price listed, which means you can get older books for CHEAP!

They also carry some newer books, I think they are overstocks. The majority of books seem to be used. And you can sell the books back to them when you are done, but they give you only pennies.

PROS: Inexpensive books & can sell them back
CONS: Sell back gets you little
