Been going to Paul Banyan's Cook Shanty for over 35 years. I remember going there with my parents as a little boy on family vacations in the 70's. When I had my own children, it was an annual tradition we looked forward to. The Lumberjack Breakfast is what we get, and its just as an important piece of Wisconsin Dells history as riding on the DUCKS and shopping at the gift shops in the downtown area. Or even seeing the upper and lower dells, and going Go-Cart racing. The breakfast is served family style, starting with the WARM homemade apple cider donuts dusted with sugar, followed by platters of scrambled eggs, flapjacks (pancakes), hash browned potatoes country style, savory sausage links and slices of ham steaks. Fresh HOT coffee served in tin cups, just like Paul Bunyan sipped from, orange juice, and Wisconsin's coldest and creamiest milk. All enjoyed while sitting on bench style seats with tables covered with checkered white and red table cloths. The decor has historic loggers tools, photos, and memories of a long lost era. If your at the Dells, you must visit this restaurant for a unique family experience at least once. Maybe you will make it a family tradition like my parents did for me and my sisters, and my wife and children are doing.

This attraction in the Wisconsin Dells is famous for it's gift shop and restaurant. More than anything, Paul Bunyan is most popular for the name and overly large sign to attract motorists. Unfortuantely the quality of their items for sale is not that good. However, with such an eye catching road sign you have to stop in and take a look.

You can always count on Paul Bunyans, one of the icons of the Dells to give you are hearty heapin' of comfort food. The place isn't much for atmosphere since you sit at large picnic style tables and eat off of tin plates. The portions are generous and the food is tasty. Just look for the giant Paul Bunyan statue out front!

For as long as I can remember, Paul Bunyan's has had the best breakfast in the Dells. They serve up soft homemade doughnuts, sausage, flapjacks, etc. Everyone sits as long, "mess hall" style tables and eats from tinware. Noto nly is the food good, but it's a fun place, and kids love it. This place is not to be missed.
