SERVICE FEE on the bill! Three of us dined with a bill of about $52, and then we noticed the $7 SERVICE FEE which we were told was for the "bus boys."!!! The steak tacos were like shards of overcooked meat, which tasted like days old meat and bland. The La Fuente Special was supposed to come with guacamole, instead we were charged $2.10. $2 each for soda. Chairs were like cafeteria chairs, which didn't seem to fit for the high prices. Salsa tasted like it was out of a jar, chips had none of that good flavor or warmth. Go to a better, more reasonable place without a service charge like Botanas, Swayz, Cempazuchi, Hector's, El Fuego, etc. I will miss the shrimp soup.

I'm not sure why people rave about this place or their "amazing margaritas"? The margaritas aren't anything special at all. Plus, there are tons of other Mexican restaurants all over the city that are way better in every way.
Why would I want to drive all the way downtown to hope that I can park somewhere remotely nearby, walk to the restaurant, have to sit and wait for a table which could take anywhere up to an hour or more, order food that I haven't ever been impressed with, and have gratuity already added to my bill? I could very easily drive to a few great places closer to home in the Greenfield area that are way better in atmosphere and food quality. I can't say that I will ever seek out going back to La Fuente. Thank you very much.

Don't waste your time or money at this dump.

The margaritas are supposedly the best in town but they don't even use real lime juice. You can make the same thing at home with quality tequila and real lime juice for the same price.

The food isn't bad but you can do better down the street at Cielito Lindo for half the price. You also won't have to wait an hour for a table there.

I also feel bad for the non-Mexican employees there who apparently can't get the 4th of July off but every Mexican can have Cinco de Mayo and the day for Milwaukee's gay pride fest off.

Based on some of the previous reviews, people must not try other Mexican restaurants in the same neighborhood... sad. If it's any consolation, even the La Fuente cooks don't eat there!

This place has gone down hill. The patio is nice but the margaritas are BAD, the food is below average and the service SUCKED! Not to mention the automatic gratuity for any size group. I also did not feel safe here there was no manager on duty at all. Do NOT waste your time, there are too many Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee to risk your life here.

Waitress told our table our food took so long because of my side of mole sauce. Funny thing was she forgot to bring me my mole sauce. The margaritas are no tasty at all and the food was just average. Do not wast your time here unless you can bring in your own food to their nice patio.

I love after work drinking during the summer at this restaurant. The outdoor area is spacious. This is the Mexican restaurant where the suburbians come for Mexican. Food is just okay. Expect a social environment that is good for group dining.

Great atmosphere. Very good margaritas. Food is average. As stated already, BEWARE OF THE AUTOMATIC SERVICE CHARGE (regardless of your party size)!! I have been going to La Fuentes for over 10 years. However, due to this very questionable business practice, I will no longer visit this establishment. Please note, the receipt that you initially receive with your total does state that there is a service charge added (which is less than we normally tip). However, the receipt you sign for a credit card transaction does not state this. In addition, the server will NEVER point this fact out to you when you get the bill. Of course after receiving their 40% tip (as has happened twice to myself and my wife), your server will just walk away feeling that this was what was intended. In summary, La Fuentes has a great atmosphere with excellent margaritas. However the average food and deceptive business practices make this a below average dining experience.

Customer service? It's obvious they get must get some difficult clientele. There's signs posted that say profanity will get you kicked out. On their menu they tell you NO split checks and a max of 2 credit cards per table. They add the 15% gratuity no matter the size of the party. The one that really shocked me was "returned plates and returned drinks still charged regular price". I realize a business has to cover themselves, but sheesh. Aside from that - VERY delicious food and margaritas. My husband and I have been there a few times and have had pleasurable dining experiences each time. We've alway been satisfied.

My husband and I have been frequenting La Fuente for over 12 years., before the numerous expansions. We go there at least once a week. It was our favorite Mexican restaurant. We have noticed a gradual decline in friendlyness, service, and food preparation. We have owned restaurants in other states, so , we know quite alot about the restaurant business. We think it is cheesey to charge for refills on soft drinks. It cost them about 10 cents. The biggest gripe we have is their new deceptive practice of tipping. They have added a service charge onto your bill, which unless you look carefully you don't see at first. Our waitress didn't bother to tell us aboout it either, When they bring your credit card receipt to sign, they again have a blank space for the tip. If you do not notice this you will be charged 15% and then another 20% if you are as generous as we normally are. When we questioned our server about this practice, she said that we look at the people, and if they look like good tippers, we will tell them to ignore the service charge, otherwise we say nothing. We are in our 50's well dressed, and white coller professionals, but, she evidently misjudged us. Guess what they got their lousey service charge in stead of our normal 20%. When we asked to speak to a manager, he wasn't there . I find that also unusual as the place was packed. If I ever go back I will tell everyone I see to check their bill. The people above are right, it is a more enjoyable experience at Botano's up the street.

It was Cinco de Mayo today,,,,, everthing went wrong today. We were crossed off the seating list., were then were seated outside more like left outside.2 hours later we were served cold food and the wrong food. We were told the kitchen was having issues.....but we were not told that the waiter was having issues to. He never checked on us, 2 meals went back wrong and cold. Becuase we never checked on us we did not order 2 more meals. The bus boy brought us water and silverware and salsa. Although when the check was given he put his tip on the bill even though only 3 people ate. It was the worst service ever and considering it was my idea to go their I would not reccomend this resturant again to anyone. That is turely sad because i did like it alot!!!

I have been going to La Fuente for 6 years now and all I have to say is...I'm addicted! On average, we go at least once weekly...and when family came to town from out of state, we went 3 times in 5 days! They loved it! The margaritas, the salsa, the food! Amazing! I can't say enough great things about this authentic mexican restaurant! Sit on the patio if its warm enough...the atmosphere is so much fun!!

We used to love to go to this restaurant. And I will say they still have great food--but slowly as they raise the prices (which I know is necessary) we have noticed other changes. Extra charges for things that used to be assumed (cheese) I fiind that a little strange. Still, that may have changed now--so it is worth a try.

I'm not a fan of mexican food, but I enjoyed my experience. I was told to go here, it was pretty pricey, but I guess it was because we ordered a lot of pitchers of margaritas. You get a lot of food also. Service was not great, even though it was exteremly busy, waitress kept forgetting things.

I used to frequent La Fuente on a regular basis, however I think the quality of their food and their service has gone downhill in the past year. It is too crowded and once you do get a seat, they are in a big hurry to get you out of there. For lunch, it may be better, but for dinner I really don't want to be rushed to eat and run. One of my friends had his Mexican family in town visiting, and was literally asked by the waiter if they were "going to leave soon", shortly after finishing their meal while they were enjoying a drink. Botanas just down the street is also busy, but their service is much better.

These guys know how to make great food (+ Margarita's) - and in a hurry. Our office is only 5 blocks away which makes for a great place to do business with clients or catch an after work drink. I'll definitely do lunch there again!

Before I moved to Atlanta, this place was my ultimate favorite for decent food (notice I said decent) and GREAT margaritas. I used to go almost all THEE time. Yes there is a long wait, but guess what? When you go to places that are known for having something good on the menu a lot of people will frequent there to get the goods! I dont' mind waiting because I know when I get my food and margaritas I am going to have a good time. The only bad thing is that I haven't found a place like this in Atlanta. When I come back to Wisconsin for my birthday in March, I will be visiting La Fuentes!

Loved La Fuente years ago, but is now too big for comfort. Wait often over an hour WITH RESERVATION, by the time you get to your table, you're too loaded to eat. Food isn't what it used to be, taste like reheated leftovers. Nice party place, but not where I want to go to eat anymore.

This is my favorite place to eat and enjoy the best and strongest margaritas in Milwaukee. I highly recommend splitting a pitcher of rainbow margaritas with a few good pals. La Fuente has a great outdoor patio to sit on warm summer nights, and it is also a wonderful restaurant to kick off a bachelorette party or other fun filled night. For my bachelorette party, we managed to ring up a tab of 150 dollars for margaritas alone! Thedrinks are a bit pricy, but the inexpensive food makes up for it. Well worth it!

There are no better Margaritas... in Milwaukee, in Wisconsin, in the US, in the world, seriously! Every other place I have had one since La Fuente has always left me wishing it was a La Fuente Margarita... even in Mexico! It should be rated 10 out of 10 in margaritas and its a travesty that places like TGI Fridays has a higher margarita rating. As for food, some have said it isnt 'great'... I dont know what they are eating. I get the enchillada plate (#15) every time... usually with Shrimp and cheese and onion... and it is PERFECT! The service and staff are fast and friendly. The only way it could get better would be if the prices were more than reasonable... and they ARE! As one person mentioned, you only need two margaritas to REALLY feel it!

I used to come to this restaurant when it first opened next door to Rudy's Mexican Restuarant. At that time, we had the run of the restauant, it was great then and now even better. A great place to go with a group of people in the summer and sit out on the patio. You will not go wrong here. The shrimp soup is awesome!

La Fuente is my absolute favorite restaurant. I have been going there for years and I travel about 45 minutes to dine there about once a month. The margaritas are excellent - though don't try to drink more than two! The food and services are top notch! My friends have had many great memories at this restaurant!

The Margeritas are graet and abundant, try the red/white/and blue. The food is good the amtesphere is fun and mexican athentic. Many of the workes are of mexican decent and add to the experiance. I took a big group there and had a blast before a night on the town. This is a great meeting place before going out with friends.

I do not live in Milwaukee anymore... so when I come home I am asked where I would like to eat and it is always La Fuenta. I have never had better mexican food. I have been to other places in Milwaukee and will never go back to them, they are no match to La Fuente!

I've been to many different types Mexican Restraunts. This one stands above the rest. It's not over priced, but you get some of the best food of that culture.
