I'm not big into being a bride or a princess with a tiara. I am big into getting service that I pay for. I hate to go into a store and pay for something and not get the service I've paid for, especially when the store advertises said services. Like David's Bridal advertises they are bridal specialists. For the headache, it was not worth the price savings. This is a very unprofessional establishment that makes poor attempts at professionalism. I do believe many of the workers try their best, some are very friendly and nice, and they genuienly do not want a customer to have a bad experience. From my perspective, the place is poorly managed from the top down (and not just local management, but corporate management strategy is very poor). Bridal consultants are pushed hard by management to get sales. On top of that, if DB is designing their own line, I would think they would have specific recommended accessories for a certain dress. I could ask 3 different bridal consultants which veil or which piece of jewelry I should get with my dress and I would get 3 different answers. There is no consistency or service or the way the consultants are trained or the way the products are offered. I have been there 4 times throughout the entire wedding dress purchase and each time I learn more about why I would not buy there again. It was not a pleasant experience for me. Very frustrating and fake. DB as a company is only in it for the money. They do not care about their customers. If they did, they would treat their own employees better and they would have a business strategy that makes it easy on their customers, not more difficult.
Some specifics:
-On one occasion, I witnessed a store worker (aka bridal consultant) getting her one-on-one performance review with her manager at the front desk where I could hear what a bad job she was doing. Then, when I asked about jewelry, her manager sent her to help me. I felt so bad for the girl - not a great way to motivate your staff or make a good impression with your customers.
-The dress was on sale the first time I tried it on, I scheduled an appointment before I left to come back and try it on 3 days later. When I went back, it it was no longer on sale. I asked for the sale price and was told the district manager had to be called but wasn't available that evening and that I could buy the dress and call tomorrow to see if I could get the sale price. No way! Magically, the manager got the District Manager on the phone and I was given the sale price, with much ado.
- I bought a dress off the rack and it had picks in it and the shoulders were streched due to many people trying it on. I had to pay for alterations to fix these things. I took the dress back to DB for alterations only because I thought they would do a good job since the dress is their line and they would have experience altering it. Not so! When I went to try on the dress after alterations there were many things out of wack - it was a shoddy job they were trying pass off (I had paid $270 for a hem, very simple bustle, shoulders taken up an inch...that is all). SEVERAL things had to be re-done. I will spare you the details, just know that it was not pretty. They were re-done quickly, within the day, so that is one thing I can say good about DB.
- On another occasion I witnessed the manager giving a sale in the register to a "bridal consultant" who had no hand in helping make the sale at all (they appeard to be buddies).

Cons: Unprofessional. Poor overall service.

I have been to a few David's Bridal stores with my friends and overall I have not been impressed by their service. They are always busy and your assigned "bridal consultant" is hard to find when you need them. Of course, they have a huge selection of dresses and all different sizes at a reasonable price. Although, do not have your dress altered by them if you are trying to avoid spending too much--alterations are almost as much as the dress. So, you can pretty much find anything you are looking for, but you're taking chances on whether or not you will have good service.

PROS: good selection, many sizes, everything in one store
CONS: questionable service
