Reviews for NC Museum of Art

Ratings_icons Very good -for a smaller Museum

Having been to several museums in Europe, it woud seem hard to find a museum in a smaller city (like Raleigh) to compare. The NC Museum of Art has a nice selection of art, and very often, traveling exhibits that are phenominal. I can't wait to go again.

The North Carolina Museum of Art has a great permanent collection of art and also has world class visiting exhibits. They have concerts and shows outside on the beautiful grounds. We especially the Louisiana Dance Party held every year in the summerbring a picnic and enjoy a concert under the stars!

I just love the North Carolina Museum of Art! Anytime it is a rainy day out, I will think of coming here. The permanent collection is free to view. If you want to see a featured collection you will have to pay. It seems that kids get slightly bored here, but they can enjoy the movies on the lawn in the summer.

Ratings_icons When its really cold or hot!

Go to the museum! When the heat is so blistering in the summer the kids only swim for 30 minutes because the water is so warm or it is so cold outside they have icicles hanging off their noses, this museum is great to go to. You must pay for parking and they have a gift shop. They had a sports exihibit and a civil war exihibit when we went. Had a great, calming time.

I loved the museum of Art. It was one of the first places I visited when I moved to NC. They have a great collection and you can spend hours looking at all of beautiful pieces. We're very lucky to have such a great museum with many great exhibits. I also love all of the outdoor sculpture and the trail!

Ratings_icons Surprisingly wonderful

I wasn't expecting this museum to be as great as it is. It actually has a pretty varied collection, including a large number of ancient art works. When I went, the museum was almost empty, so it was a nice (and new) experience to walk around a quiet musuem. I went with my parents, and it was a really great activity for the three of us while they were visitng me. Also, the restaurant in the museum is incredible, so don't leave without eating there.

The NC Museum of Art entices visitors with a strong entrance design and incredible ceiling display. The art available for viewing includes a well proportioned variety from different ages and cultures providing a valuable experience for all visitors. The museum also offers dining which is a step above the usual fair.

Ratings_icons go to the movies!

One of my favorite things to do is go to the movies in the Museum park. They show a wide variety and you can take a picnic to eat while you watch it. Make sure you go early-- it fills up quickly and you'll want plenty of picnic and lounge space.

This museum is absolutly fantastic, especially for being located in NC. The museum has a good coillection of art year round, and also hosted the Rodin exibit, as well as a good amount of other famous paiters and artists over the years.

The staff is informative, the parking is pleantiful, and the museum is fantastic. They also have art movies on the lawn in the summer, and a wonderful restaurant.

I am from a large northern city with a number of museums and have been to many art museums in many cities all over the world. I continue to be impressed with the NC Museum of Art. I love to wander through it. The staff is always friendly and glad to see you, answer questions, and share their knowledge and love of art. I recently attended the Matisse, Picasso and the School of Paris exhibit, and the Rodin exhibit a few years ago. Both were world class. It is quite a privledge to be able to see these pieces in Raleigh, NC. I lok forward to attending the next exhibit. Also... check out the movies and music on teh lawn this summer! They are a great program!

Ratings_icons Fantastic Place to Spend a Saturday afternoon

Amy G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,157

On a hot summer's day, I love to spend time in the cool, air conditioned art museum, looking at wonderful works of art. My personal favorite is the "Three Trees". The artist captures the sunset perfectly. The staff is always ready to answer questions. During the summer, they have outdoor movies and concerts. The NC Art Museum is central to adding culture to Raleigh.

Ratings_icons Impressive Museum

Kelly M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,969

The NC Art Museum has a very impressive collection of paintings and artifacts from throughout the world. They host specialty collections that are often touring the US and the only stop in NC is at the art museum. During the spring and summer, they also have outdoor movie showings that are usually family friendly and a great date idea. There is a restaurant in the museum that is supposed to have very good food as well.
