Reading the two reviews here makes me think they are written by "shills"...If you're going for the first time and don't know what to expect, what I add is the following:

(1) parking is a problem...get there early, or be prepared to walk some distance...

(2) seating may be a problem, even if you bought reserved seats, they may be close together and people might not be sitting down...also it's not covered so bring umbrellas. Seating is not fixed, as it is for the Verizon outdoor theaters in Raleigh and Charlotte. They set up for the event as needed. But if the lawn is your thing, get there early or all the best areas will be taken. Bring your own portable chair or seat.

(3) concessions are a problem...so eat before you go or bring something...unless standing in line, or dealing with items being sold out (including beer), is your thing....

(4) traffic is a problem...get there early and be prepared to wait a long time to get out...or leave the event early before the rush....

Otherwise, enjoy the show...

The Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park is a great place for a variety of events. Concerts are held here and fireworks show during July 4th and New Years Eve. Plenty of seating is available but preparation for concerts is advised. Tickets sell out quickly such as those for the Jack Johnson concert, so you should buy ahead of time. Overall asthetic look for the amphitheatre is great, as it lays on a lake. There is also a trial for those that want to walk around the lake. Parking is available and a convenient walk from outlying neighborhoods around it.

The ampthitheatre hosts many concerts and performing troupes. The North Carolina Symphony plays there often as well. They also show Hollywood hit movies during the summer for only $3 entrance fee. It is situated on a lake which makes for a great backdrop to the well-designed stage. Lawn chairs are strongly recommended and the food is pricey so eating beforehand is a good idea.
