I was in for a pre-diagnosed issue with my cruise control disengage switch. My service representative didn??t argue or fuss about having to do his own troubleshooting. He found the part in stock, estimated the replacement, and arranged for a ??while-you-wait?? repair while I was on the phone.

The price for the switch was half of what I expected, the labor was less than half of what I expected, and I was in and out of the parking lot in half the time I expected. He did caution me that the problem might not be resolved since Cogswell didn??t do diagnostics. All in all it was an excellent service call. I won??t hesitate to bring my pickup truck, my Yukon, or my Mitsubishi back in for service the next time it??s time for preventive maintenance or a repair. I won??t hesitate to recommend Cogswell to any friends or my two boys with their fleet of junk.

Business Response:

Thank you, Jeff! We are glad we are able to assist you and look forward to in the future!

I purchased a used vehicle from the used car department at Cogswell Motors. I have never in my life experienced such EXCEPTIONAL service. I thought I was going to have to haggle with them to get the best deal, but I didn't! I shopped on the internet--using Autotrader.com, so the price I saw online was the price I got it for! That was great because I had already compared this vehicle with other vehicles within the market, and it was priced most competitively! Not to mention the fact that they UNDER PROMISED, and OVER DELIVERED!!! They definitely know how to run a business over there, and Keith Cogswell is a gem! I have never met a dealer or sales people that were more professional or passionate about what they do! I would recommend them to ANYONE!

I have purchased 6 vehicles from Cogswell Motors over the last 10 years or so. We bought a Dodge Ram, a Ford Mustang, a Mercury Milan, a Ford Edge, a GMC Sierra, and a Ford Taurus. No matter what brand we have bought, Cogswell has always gone above and beyond to make sure we were fully satisfied. Our personal experience with Cogswell's staff has been very pleasant. Our salesmen have always gone out of their way to make buying a car a memorable, easy experience. We have never really had to shop around, because they've consistently given us a great deal time and time again. I would absolutely recommend Cogswell Motors to all my friends and family. I would also suggest that you take your car in for regular maintenance in the service department. No one knows your vehicle better than the people that sell them.

My husband and I are getting ready to buy our 5th vehicle from Cogswell Motors. We have had a wonderful experience each time. They have been flexible when we wanted to drive the vehicle home overnight before we made our decision and everything in each process went smoothly. Our salesperson, Cathy Huett, has always bent over backward for us and we wouldn't go anywhere else. We have also serviced our vehicles with Cogswell and their service department has always been top-notch.

I was looking to buy a 2008 Ford Mustang GT with a alloy metallic color. I asked the sales person named Tino if my company, ALCAN, had any discounts or partnership plans with them. He said he didn't think so. I wanted to verify this with my company later. Tino found the car I was looking for in Texas and said there would be a $300.00 transportation fee. When I said that it seemed a bit high he said his favorite statement "It is what it is.". Use you own translation of this. I decided to go ahead and order the car and eat the fee. I put almost $10,000 down payment with no papers signed yet. That would be done on Friday 7-25-08. Also found out that if I had financed this through my bank, the $2000.00 off the sales price incentives did not apply. Once again, Tino said "It is what it is.". Nothing I found on the Ford website said this, I may be wrong.

My first contact with Cogswell Motors and their sales person Tino was Tuesday 7-22-08. I was just going to test drive a Mustang and buy one from another dealer since Cogswell's did not have one in stock, and I should have stuck with this decision.

On Thursday 7-24-08 I found out that my company did have a partnership discount with Ford and got all the information from my company's HR representative. I took the information to Tino at Cogswell's and gave it to him. He said no problem, this should give me almost an additional $2000.00 off the price known as the X-Plan. The car I ordered was not there yet and I told him that I would be back Friday to take care of the paperwork.

Friday rolls around and Tino calls me and said that the car was there and that he was planning on going to lunch. I said no problem, I was taking a load of scrap metal to the salvage yard and would see him about 2:30.

When I arrive at the dealership, I meet with Tino and he shows me the car I ordered, it's beautiful. We go back in to his cubical and I tell him that people I work with are interested in buying a car using the X-PLAN with them. He then tells me that the plan does not apply due to their having to go out of state to another dealer to get the car. He also said "I thought I said this earlier.", no buddy you did not! Tino is great for last minute surprises like this and did not bother to say anything about this on the phone. I said that nowhere on the Ford website does it say anything about this for the X-PLAN. I verified this with Ford later. I was feeling suckered. He said that it would only be a little bit off the price anyway and should not matter. I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I have to work in 110 degree heat all day to make my money and $2000.00 is a lot of money to me. He once again said "It is what it is.". I told him that I felt like I was getting kicked in the tail with this deal. He said that he gets paid the same either way using the X-PLAN or not and wanted to know if this ruined the deal. I said that I was pretty upset and do not make rush decisions and would have to think about it. I then got up and walked out, wondering if my deposit was now in jeopardy. No paperwork has been signed by me as of yet, so we will see.

If there is a problem with the car transportation fee, I will pay the $300.00 on the side so nobody is out any money that they rightly deserve. I also want to be treated fairly with honesty. I know, what was I thinking, look who I'm dealing with. If there are incentives and plan discounts, I would like to utilize them. I'm not asking for special treatment.

I went home and contacted the X-PLAN people at Ford and they said that it is up to the dealer if they want to participate in the plan or not, so why have this thing at all? To lure people into the dealership and then pull a last minute bait and switch? Ford gave me the number to customer service to complain about this and then put me in touch with nearest certified Blue Oval Ford dealer, Whitson Morgan in Clarksville, AR.

The people at customer service said they have no control over what the dealer does (probably why Ford has posted a second quarter loss of 8.7 billion dollars). So no help there either, wish I knew this going into this car buying dance.

I got in touch with Wilson at Whitson Morgan and emailed him the information on the car I wanted to purchase. He will get back with me later Saturday 7-26-08. I have heard nothing but good reports about Whitson Morgan so far, we will see. I don't want to deal with Cogswell's any more.

All for the sleezy depictions about car sales people are true. I searched all over the internet looking for the car I wanted to buy and ran into some real losers, Tino and his sales manager Ed are good examples. Later, I will see the owner of Cogswell Motors, Keith Cogswell, and talk to him about this. My big concern is getting my deposit back. I may need to hire a lawyer.

Anyone wanting more information can email me at mikemac20002003 at Yahoo. I'm not happy with Cogswell Motors or Ford right now at all.

The quality of the vehicle I purchased is terrible. I yhink it was a flood vehicle or something of the sort. It has been broken down more than it has been driven. Currently broken down ! this is the 8th time in 7 months the repair bills are becomming astronomical . Tried to get some help from the salesman Don Goodlow , My wife and I went to talk to him about possibly trading for a more dependable vehicle, Don said " I will get back to you in a couple of days " that was 2 phone calls and a month ago. Still he has'nt returned a call ! Is this the kid of service you want from a dealership . They will jump to sell you anything with a quickness but if you have any problems with your purchase then they seem to forget who you are and where their pay check comes from ! Personally I would shop elsewhere.

Cogswell Motors primarily sells Ford products but always has many new and used vehicles to choose from. Their service department is 5 star as well as their body shop. When they fix your car it is done right. The sales staff is friendly and doesn't try to sell you a car that you can't afford or don't want. I appreciate that. Cogswell Ford is a top notch car dealership.
