I've never been to platos closet before but I thought I would give it a try. I first went to the location in woodbury, mn and was pleasantly surprised with the amount I received back and the employees were pretty helpful. However, I just drove 20 miles to the location in burnsville and I stopped in literally 5 minutes past 7. And for those of you that don't know how it works, they stop taking clothing an hour before close. So I explained to the girl working how I juat drove 20 miles and have one small bag. She looked at her clock and said "no sorry we stopped taking clothing 5 minutes ago". Now I understand you may be busy, but next time...make your better judgment call with your awesome customer service skills. Honestly, you're better off donating your clothes. You'll probably feel much better leaving that store than this one!

Honestly I love plato's closet... I could get lost in there for hours because everything is so cute! I am thankful that its not like normal second hand stores. I think thats why everyone has such a big problem because they dont want your ugly out of date clothes that are heavly worn. Go to the normal thift store and donate your clothes and digg through there heeps of ugly closes and maybe you will walk away with a few cute things... But walk into plato's and have the time of your life and walk away with beautiful creative clothes that you got for a really cheep price :) I think that the people that come in this and are RUDE are the ones that are acting like teenager.. we should look to honor people and be kind always... because honestly life is not all about clothes now is it!!

I used to work at Platos, and give the girls a break. Its all the managers doing. They pay us literally nothing to do everything! The owner has a bunch of high schoolers running the place, and most high school girls are bitches. We are ALWAYS extremely understaffed only have 2-4 people at a time, leaving us having to ignore some customers. I worked there 2 years and got taken advantage of. The other review of the girl who worked there is AL TRUE! We get paid minimum wage to do the managers job!! I know the owner should concentrate on customers but she needs to take a little more time in her employees. The better she treats them, the less miserable they'll be working, therefore they wont be such bitches to almost everyone who enters the store.

If you want my advice, dont go to burnsville/woodbury. Take the time to go to St Cloud. BETTER SELECTION, BETTER EMPLOYEES AND BETTER PRICES.

I really like platos closet. I brought in 5 huge bags and they bought some stuff and gave me $125.00. I just let them donate the rest because I wasn't gonna haul all that stuff back home. Then a few days laters I brought in 5 pairs of jeans. 2 pairs of 7 For All Man Kind, 2 pairs of Rock&Republics and 1 pair of Victorias Secret Pink Jeans. She bought all of them and gave me $67.35. I thought it was decent because I can't wear them no way (I lost alot of weight). A few weeks later I went in to see if I can find some jeans to fit me and all their stuff is really over priced for used merchandise. I found 4 pairs of jeans and just went on and bought them, I really didn't want to go to Nordstrom and spend $500 on some new jeans. So I went on head and bought the 4 pairs from Platos Closet but I still spent $127.00. Over all it's okay. I'll go back again and I do really recommend it.

I just got home from taking some clothes to Plato's Closet and I didn't have the best experience.

I brought in two huge bags full of name brand clothes, some even had the tags on them still and I got $8 for a pair of shoes and a couple shirts they took. That was it. All the employees were high school students and extremely rude. When I got there, the girl told me it'd be 15 minutes until my stuff was done being checked..so I browsed. 15 minutes goes by...then 20...then 25 and that same girl is out on the store laughing and gossiping with her friends. So, I went to the front counter and asked if my stuff was done, and she was like "Oh yeah." DUH!

It was the worst experience I've ever had a store, and I will not go back. I'd rather donate my stuff to Goodwill or Unqiue.

Plato's Closet in Burnsville has cheap name brand clothes but the girls that work there are very rude. Not one of them smiled at me. I brought 3 bags of clothing there and they took nothing. They would hold up tshirts and honestly laugh at them right in front of me. Nothing was wrong with those clothes. They were practically new and adorable. Just a bunch of stuck up bitches work there.

I paid a visit to the Burnsville location. I called before arriving to verify they still pay cash for used clothing. I brought in two pair of True Religion jeans- both 3 years old. Not a rip or tear in either pair. I originally paid $470 for the two. I was told I would have an answer in 20 mins. 45 mins later I waited in line to find out what the hold up was. A different girl than the original helper found my jeans (still folded and not touched), handed them back to me, and told me the jeans were too old. I looked through the men's section while waiting. (shirts and pants) Most everything in the store is older and certainly in worse shape than what I brought in. Wasted gas for the round trip, 25 mins late back to work, and a clothing critique from someone I wouldn't hire to take out my trash. Terrible choice for discounted clothing.

I went here all the time to buy clothes with friends and family. We were in there almost every weekend. I sold a lot of clothes there and spent a lot of money on their clothes. The products were good, but the service was horrible. People were always rude and stuck up, but I didn't let it get to me and kept going back to sell and buy clothes. One time that I went in there with some friends, I was looking through a clothing rack, and a manager started yelling at me to get out of the store because she accused me of shop lifting from the store. I've never shop lifted anything, and wouldn't shoplift used clothes if i wanted something to steal. I haven't gone back since, and never will. They lost a lot of money and good clothes to make money on from me, and I don't suggest going here for clothes, service, or money. Over priced crappy clothes, and people who under-price the good clothing you have to offer.

WHAT A JOKE!!!!! I brouth two big bags of clothes filled with pants, tank tops, shirts, and hoodies to plato's closet and they only took 9 items and gave me 34.70. All of the clothes that I brought were American Eagle, Hollister, Ambercrombie, rue 21, energie, and wet seal but yet they only took 9 items? They are really really picky and stuck up snobs! I will never bring clothes there again!

I have bought and sold many clothes to the Plato's in burnsville. Every time I go in there the workers are rude and no one is there to help you. The clothes are over priced. Also one time i brought a bag full of stuff in to the store, at least twenty or so items, all name brand and only worn about one to two times and a few wallets and they only took two wallets and a t shirt and gave me $4 for those items! What the heck?! If i would have counted up how much money i spent on those three items, it would have been over $90!!!, And i only got $4 for them. I will never sell or buy anything from there ever again.

I used to work at Plato's Closet in Burnsville and all the reviews I read about the store are absolutely true! It makes me laugh. But the selection of clothe is very good! It's much cheaper then the actual stores, unless you shop on sale at Khols/Target, then it's about the same price. But they have nice, brand name tops for under ten dollars, jeans and sweatshirts for under thirty. Although it may seem pricey, keep in mind that it's brands such as Buckle, Hollister, and Abercrombie, which are really expensive if you buy them from the actual stores. The Burnsville Plato's is very picky when it comes to buying clothe, we only try to take the best out of the bunch, which is really for the customers own good. That way the customers have a nicer collection to choose from! I hated working there because all day we had to listen to 101.3 and 96.3 NOTHING else! The songs on those stations are dirty and use offensive language. I'm an eighteen year old, but even I think that we should listen to something else. I mean, parents with small children come in to the store, I think we set a bad example for the youth! Also the managers are very rude, especially the owner of the store, Sue. I never had a problem with management, just because I needed the job. But in my heart, I disagreed with the way they treated the employees and the customers. I have been taught that customers come first and should be treated well if you want their business. The employees are crabby and sometimes rude to the customers (although I was always nice, haha). But that's probably because they get paid $6.25 an hour and are expected to do the managers job! Like closing the store, counting registers, dealing with rude customers, staying two hours after work, dealing with power failure, and fixing computers by calling the help desk and all of this for $6.25 an hour! I know I had to do all of the above more than once!! The greedy Sue raised my pay to $6.55 after two years and only because minimum wage went up :P But if all you care about is good deals on brand name clothing, then I do suggest that you check out the store!! The store definitely has some nice things! And many customers do leave happy! In conclusion I'd like to say don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself ;]PROS: Cheap brand name clothing.CONS: Ethically challenged management/employees.

I brought in two bags of nice clothes. Apparently, not enough. I think they took a few shirts, a pair of jeans and a sundress. I was shocked, because the items they took were my least favorite items, and the ones furthest from what I thought they'd take. They sent me back with a bag full of clothes from GAP, J. Crew, Old Navy, etc. I know those aren't the favorite brands of teens, but they were nice clothes. The employees were far from helpful and were very rude, they would barely interact with you. Minimal conversation or question answering at best. The store was very messy and the employees were just throwing clothes around. Anyways, it was not the best consignment/resale place I've been. I'd choose a different location.

I brought two big boxes of super nice clothes to Platos in burnsville today. They only took about 8 pairs of jeans, size 3. So what...Who Cares... these are the ones they liked, wanted and thought might sell well. If they always bought everything from you, they would have so much non-selling overhead that they would go out of business real fast. I am glad I could help out a local small company and help them grow a bit. I was hoping they'd buy alot more, but don't we all? Your local grocer or butcher store doesn't complain to your face because you only bought 2 lbs of beef when they have 5,000 lbs of beef for sale. If that were the case we'd all hate each other.

I called Plato's Closet in Burnsville to ask a few very straight forward questions. The girl that answered the phone was completely ditzy and didn't answer the questions I was asking. She sounded like she was 12 and had no common sense or customer service skills. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told to talk to the owner Sue. Sue was unbelievably rude and seemed inconvenienced that I was asking her how her process worked. First of all, if she hired competent employees, I would not have to go to her with simple questions. The fact that she was so very nasty to me tells me there is no reason for me to ever go into her store. I never did find out how it worked (consignment/buying outright etc.) but it doesn't matter anymore. I would not bring my clothes into Plato's Closet, nor would I buy from them. They just lost what could have been a very good customer.

Shame on you Sue as a manager and owner for not knowing how to hire and train your staff. Shame on you as well for being such a RUDE human being!!!

Today we brought several bags of designer clothes in to see if the store was interested in buying a few. We didn't expect much, but hoped for a couple bucks. Instead we got treated rudely by THE MANAGER!!! We have been buying clothes from this store for years and never tried to sell anything to them until today. She didn't even look at one of our bags of clothes. When I asked her about it, she didn't look me in the eye, just kept typing on her computer, and responded crassly "I checked them all". For some reason she had a bad attitude toward us. We watched the other sales associate offer decent money to other customers for clothes that weren't near as nice. I will drive out of my way to avoid this location and you should too!

Plato's is a great store to shop at for cute, good quality clothes. When I first heard of a store that sold used clothes I thought, yuck, all the clothes are probably worn and old. One of my friends told me otherwise, so I decided to check it out. There was a pair of $100 jeans there for $14, they were adorable!! they soon became my new favorite jeans. Some people complain that when you try to sell used stuff to Plato's that they're to picky, but if they weren't then their store would be filled with junk, right? Although you can find great deals, Plato's still isn't perfect, I had to search through a lot of jeans to find some that fit me, and the store itself is not very well decorated, also the staff aren't very helpful.

If your looking for some name brand clothing for either your teen or if you are a young adult, then this is a great store to check out. There are a handful located in the twin cities area. They offer name brands clothes, shoes and accesories at reasonable prices. When i say name brand, i'm referring to tommy, gap, old navy, apostrophe, etc.
I have bought clothing there for under $10 each.
They also will take gently used clothing and pay you for it. If you know Once upon a child, then this is similiar except it's not babies and kids stuff. I spent a LOT of time laundering and folding neatly into boxes 86 items, including good quality name brand clothing. I brought in my four boxes and the worker shuffled through it so quickly, and threw most of it back into the boxes without folding it and without any care whatsoever. Out of the 86 items, they took FOUR. I understand that it all depends on inventory and demand, but to be so rude and disrespectful was extremely frustrating. I don't know why I wasted my time.

This store offers a good selection of second-hand clothing. The prices were decent, but definitely not cheap. The atmosphere is young, and loud. The music is loud and annoying, the staff were reasonable, but certainly not super-friendly. If you are looking for something specific, need to update your wardrobe and don't have retail dollars to do it with, it would be worth checking out. Not the best place I have ever been, but not the worst either.

PROS: quality of items
CONS: atmosphere is so-so

It seems everytime I am in this store, they are playing very awful music. I particuarly don't like to shop in an atmosphere where every other word on the music playing is a curse word or sexual sound or word. I find this appalling. If the workers choose to listen to this kind of music, they should do it on their own time, not in a place where people come into shop.

PROS:
CONS: Loud blasting disgusting music

Plato's Closet has a decent selection, but the prices are nothing to get excited about and the store, employees, clothes, and location are all so BORING. Also, good luck trying to sell clothes back to them--they have very stringent standards.
