Casa De Pico

I've been going to this restaurant for 30 years and highly recommend it to all my friends. My 85 year old mother has been going there for her birthday for the past 28 years, rain or shine. We have tried almost all meals on the menu. Especially liked the new lobster tacos. The one meal that hasn't changed in all the years is the cheese crisp. Still a bargain, it is delicious. Also, and probably most important, the margaritas are the best. This is a great restaurant to take your out of town visitors.

This place has amazing authentic mexican food. The staff is very friendly and there is a wide variety food. The cinnamon churro dessert is so delicious. Make sure you save room for that!

Looking for a good time in Old Town San Diego this is the place. Authentic Mexican food and great service. A wonderful patio to eat at and watch the people go by.

Casa De Pico's lease was up in old town so they recently moved to Grossmont Center in La Mesa, This is just a little East on Interstate 8 and well worth the drive. Or just take the Blue line to grossmont center and walk! :-D (believe me it's well worth it). Casa De Pico may have moved but their food and local popularity definately has not changed. They have very authentic mexican food and have some of THE BEST margaritas I have had. This is a great family environment in a very central area.

PROS: Great food, Prices aren't too steep
CONS: Forced to move because of lease.. somewhat out of the way.

I love this place. The food is excellent. It is more on the style of real Mexican Food then these different Mexican Cuisines everyone is coming up with. The Margarita's are killers, I can only handle a few sips (I am a lightweight when it comes to drinking)They serve so much in your plate that 2 people need to share a meal... I love their Carnitas, fresh made tortillas and chips. The hot sauce is so good, plenty of cilatro in it.
