Paul Shinto

Dr. Shinto's office is great! My wife (whose parents and stepmom are all dentists) and I have both been seeing Dr. Shinto for years and think his office and staff are wonderful. My first exam was so thorough, and Dr. Shinto and his assistant did a great job of explaining everything to me in terms I could understand. My subsequent appointments have always been smooth and efficient, and I really feel like he and his assistants and hygienists care about me and my teeth. It sounds strange, but I look forward to going to my dental appointments. We have referred our friends to Dr. Shinto, and they all say the same thing.

The whole experience with Dr. Shinto's office is like none other - great phone service, friendly staff, caring and thorough assistants and hygienists - even the other doctors at his office are friendly. On top of all this, Dr. Shinto has called me the day after my appointment to see how I am. I have had surgery in the past, and not even my own medical doctor called to follow up!

This is definately not discount dentistry, but it is a great value if you believe a dentist should combine intangible qualities with great clinical skills. If you want high quality dentistry and a warm and caring environment, Dr. Shinto's is the place.

Paul Shinto is a great dentist, but he's the first dentist I've ever gone to who insists that you pay for your first regular exam upfront, even though my insurance covered the entire first visit. I still paid up and when I was asked if I wanted to have the insurance reimbursement sent back to me or kept "on file" (for future visits, I guess?), I told them I wanted my money back, of course. They did not send the money back and I had to badger them for weeks to do so, going back and forth between their office and their business office, etc... I have referred two people who live in the area, but shelling out $270 for an initial exam and cleaning isn't exactly something I enjoy, especially when it's a doctor's job to pre-verify insurance coverage. Once you get past that first hurdle though, it's a good experience. Great dentist, expensive, but if your insurance is good, you'll be very happy.

I wouldn't trust my teeth to anyone else! As an employee and a patient, I have experienced first hand an experienced and friendly staff that makes you feel at home. With a clean office and up to date equipment they provide the best care!

Dr. Shinto is very gentle, soft spoken, ethical, fair and and excellent practioner. Great office and great staff! I would highly recommend this dentist. You won't find a better one in the Pasadena area or Southern California for that matter!
