I have been going to these ??people? for 3 years now. At first I thought that they were honest and simply doing their jobs but I know now that they are all about money. They start by cleaning your teeth and they try to make you buy every product that they sell (which you really don??t need if you regularly brush your teeth and floss). After you go back and tell them that you already have the products that they are still trying to sell, they will start with the x-rays. Every time I saw them, they did all of these unnecessary x-rays. Your insurance only pays for x-rays once a year so that came out of my pocket. They move so fast with the x-rays that they actually got me about 3 times which was pretty expensive.

On top of that, I also feel that they always try to find something wrong and the average person does not get a second dental opinion so they screw you. They will want to replace a perfectly good filling with porcelain which will not be covered by your insurance because it is considered cosmetic. GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!!

Don??t trust these people! Do not go to these people! They are out to get as much money from you as they can. They have obviously even written their own comments to bring the star rating up on this review!!!!

Lastly, the secretary is a horrible winch that I truly believe is possessed by a demon. Don??t look her directly in the eyes for I feel you might turn to stone!!!!

First off; the ratings stars are broken, and in order to submit this I was forced to give them 4 stars! I would have preferred to give them none!

OMG! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!!! The techs barely speak English. They did 20 x-rays on me, and I cried the entire time because the plastic inserts were cutting my gums each and every time. On the 2nd to last x-ray, they put foam cushion stickers around the plastic pieces so they wouldn't hurt!?!?!?!? I made up my mind then I would never go back! They tried multiple times to book me an appointment, and I refused EVERY TIME. I SAID NO!!!
Sitting in the chair, with machinery still in my freaking mouth, the super smarmy doctor comes in & tells me I need $2000 worth of work!
I went to another dentist 6 months later. No pain, and he told me I might need a filling repaired soon, but nothing major! He didn't understand what my other doctor wanted to charge me $2000 for!
Now I'm receiving invoices saying I missed my appointment, which is a $65 fee! However, they show that I had a credit of $58 in the first place! Its been 10 months, they never paid me that credit they owed me because my insurance paid more than they thought they had estimated! I just called them on the phone, and they insist I booked an appointment because it was in the computer.
Although I said NO and REFUSED an appointment, somebody made me an appointment & now its set in stone that I had an appointment!!!
HORRIBLE!!! This group is just out to get money. They have ATROCIOUS customer service, and they are outright robbers!

I have been going to this office for 5 years. At first, I LOVED them. The dentist (forgot her name) was great and so was the hygienist. After a couple dentists later, I got tired. Tired of going in there just to be sold every product they have. I could not get a cleaning without being told I needed to pay extra $$.

The kicker was this: I went in for my 6 month appt last Sept. Received my cleaning as usual - everything looked great. While talking to the hygienist, I mentioned that I was going to be getting married in Nov. Then Dr. Hollywood came in, heard I was getting married then spent the next 30 minutes trying to convince me that my teeth were not pretty and I should knock them all out to get veneers - $15,000. But I should hurry because weddings only happen once and I will have the pictures for a life time. They told me over and over how everyone is going to see these pictures and I needed to have a better smile. WHAT!!!! I am not bragging but I am a pretty girl and there is nothing wrong with my smile. I left the practice and a week later, Hollywood's assistant called me (left message) telling me that my pictures were not going to look good and it would be better for everyone if I had these veneers done. That is when I had enough.

Anyhow, enter at your own risk. They will get the job done but plan on up-charges and insults.

Beware! These people have cost me over $30,000 in 3 years time. I finally get it. I have been charged $350 to $400 for every cleaning for each member of my family. Each root canal and crown has been $2500. It costs $65 to get a copy of your records. And now, when I have a credit balance, they refuse to credit it back to my credit card. They have to submit a request for a refund check, and it can take 6 to 8 weeks. The current dentist ( there have been about 5 different ones in the last 3 years) actually does beautiful cosmetic work. But the patient needs to be told that he is getting cosmetic dentistry and that most of it will not be covered by insurance, and that most of it is not really necessary. It is just nice to have if you have plenty of money and don't have other uses for it.

They quoted me a price for a simple tooth extraction.

Then, when I arrived in the office, the dentist piled on an additional $800 worth of cash charges for bone grafts and nearly everything else it appeared my insurance wouldn't cover.

Even the secretary said the extra charges were "ridiculous."

I refused treatment.

They billed my insurance for God-knows-what (because I received no treatment or examination), then came at me with a bill for what they said insurance didn't cover.

Then they CHARGED THE REMAINDER TO MY DEBIT CARD WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, unless they were able to sneak such authorization into some fine print somewhere. I am forced to bring the authorities in to deal with this situation.

I HAD been a patient for 8 yrs however,I finally got smart!!!! I would go through a new Dentist yearly.I couldn't;t build a trusting relationship with anyone. My last visit I was told I needed implants,I was sent downstairs to Mr. oral surgeon who told me I needed a sinus lift, bone graft on two teeth and of course implants. He quoted me 15,000.00. He told me he wanted to do this next week and the first part would run 3,500.00.
I have to say i was a jerk for not leaving the practice years ago but it was easier to stay than find a new Dentist but now that I look back, they got so much money from me and of course did work that wasn't covered by insurance and crown after crown after crown and never stood by their work.
I went and got a second opinion and it was almost half the price!

I would not recommend Marietta Dental Group. Being a new patient, I expected them to ask me questions about my dental history, but I was surprised at the additional negative comments made by the dental hygienist and the dentist about my prior dentistry experience. I've been to reputable dentist practices in the Atlanta area, and they continued to talk negatively about the "other" practices compared to how wonderful their practice is. In addition, their assumptions about my dental history did not match the truth of each experience, therefore I spent most of the appointment correcting their assumptions. The main reason I visited their practice was because it's convenient to where I live. But unless, you are a movie star, which by the way...the dentist caters to movie stars because he's from Phoenix, AZ and has experience working on the the grandest sets of teeth - blah, blah, blah, then I'm sure you can can afford an extra $900 per filling/inlay, after your insurance kicks in. My dentistry needs involved inlays, which they much prefer over fillings, so $900 a tooth gets a little pricey. Granted they make their own porcelain fillings/inlays, so most of the expense pays for operating costs, but I was shocked to review my treatment plan and the additional expense involved. And if you're not pleased with their services, it'll cost you $65 just to get a copy of your x-rays. The most I've ever paid is $10-$15 for copies.I recommend the following: Shop around, do your research and ask questions before you settle on any medical/dental practice.

By the time I left, I wasn't sure if I was getting work done on my car or trying to get my teeth cleaned because they tried to tell me I needed so much unnecessary stuff. I am a 22 year old blonde headed girl, and it felt like someone trying to take advantage of me at a car shop! And I knew the stuff was unnecessary because I did my research before I went in. Before the technician even started the cleaning (which I ended up refusing in the end), she poked around for 5 minutes and said these exact words: "All of your teeth are going to fall out." I literally laughed out loud... I have actually had another dentist tell me I am the poster child for good teeth. And even if my teeth were in serious shape, that is a VERY unprofessional thing to say to anyone. When you go to the doctor, he doesn't say "You are going to die." He says, "You have some serious problems. Let's try to fix them." I was appalled by her saying this. And she wasn't even the dentist!

So, we move past that point and I am told I have periodontal disease. Ok, that's fine. But what kind? There is simple gum disease and then periodontitis. I decided not to disclose that I know there is a difference. Periodontitis is WAY more serious, but they never told me which I have. So, they said they would need to numb my mouth just to do the cleaning! It would cost $500, and I must pay this today or all of my teeth are going to fall out (I was told again.) I have never heard of a dentist wanting to numb anyone's mouth to do a cleaning. And then I asked the kicker question: "With brushing and flossing, can periodontal disease be reversed?" And the answer was yes, which means I have gum disease. Ok, so you want me to pay $500 to fix something I can fix myself? Haha, not happening. I asked why I would pay to do this, and the technician just stammered. It was actually kind of funny.

So now, I am told that I need to get my wisdom teeth out because they are "stained." Well, they are in the back of my mouth, so I don't much care. I've had them for 8 years and they give me no other problems.

And instead of wanting to do normal fillings for $160 each (with insurance) they want to do 1 filling for $1,000! Again, I laughed. They said it was because the procedure was "cosmetic." What's funny is that the tooth in question is my farthest back molar on top... no one is going to see it so who cares if it's pretty? I asked for the normal filling, and they refused. Speaking of which, I asked for a normal cleaning, and they refused that too.

By the end, they wanted to numb me today to do a cleaning, have me come back another day to numb me to do one filling, have me come back to do the other filling (refused to do them both on the same day, probably to get the extra money from multiple numbings!), and then get my wisdom teeth removed. Without the wisdom teeth removal, my cost was $1,700. And I have insurance!!! I can't imagine what it would have been with the wisdom teeth removal. The whole thing was just ridiculous. Stay away!!!

Believe the negative reviews. I had the very same experience last week. I'm new to the area and went to this office because of its proximity to my home. I was given misleading information about whether they accepted my insurance, and only found out after receiving a $200 bill that they were not an in-network provider. 100% of my visit should have been covered. They told me I needed $3,000 worth of work--root canal, crown, gum disease, etc., and that I needed it done ASAP or I might lose those teeth. Last year my previous dentist had said my teeth were fine. Scare tactics were absolutely their strategy. I left in tears. When I tried to go back and get my x-rays so I could get a second opinion from an in-network provider, they told me it would be $65, regardless of whether they were for me or for another dentist office. I have never heard of that high of a reduplication fee. Price gouging, unprofessional conduct...I would highly recommend staying away from this practice.

Last week I visited Marietta Dental Group and was pleased at the treatment I received. The front office staff was extremely nice. I met the hygienist Susan and she is wonderful. She took alot of time with me and I felt she really cared about me and my dental needs. I met the dentist and he is great. He told me my teeth look great and I take great care of them. He suggested Susan clean my teeth and also mentioned I should stay away from all the coffee, tea and cokes I drink. They are staining my teeth. He told me about a bleaching treatment he could do in his office to whiten my teeth. I scheduled my appointment and had the whitening procedure today. WOW, my teeth are white!! I love this office and the fact they suggested the whitening treatment. I am a very happy patient.

Have you ever heard the term "you get what you pay for?" I recently visited the Marietta Dental Group, and the dentist was absolutely amazing. I would gladly pay any amount of money to receive the excellent care I received with the Marietta Dental Group. I visited several dentists to determine which dentist and which types of treatment were the best for my needs; I MUST say, without a doubt, I made the right decision with the Marietta Dental Group. I would recommend this dental practice to everyone!

Ditto to the last post - will always try sell something and charge extra cost outside of insurance coverage, using scaring tactics. Every time had to pay extra $100 for teeth cleaning, even though had 100% coverage for regular cleanings. Most of the doctors are nice, but the hygienists are terrible, they're treating people like decades ago. Will never go there again.

I came to the practice about 4 years ago. From the onset, there was cost. I have never come out of the clinic without having to pay outside of the covered amount in my dental plan. I take care of my teeth but in this practice, the expectation is that there is a problem and you have to pay for some product or else risk some type of gum disease. It feels like scare tactics to me.In addition, the doctors rotate out of there so frequently, there is never consistent care from one dentist who really know the patients history. I went in last week for a regular cleaning and guess what....new dentist....as well as the selling of product. I finally decided to leave the practice and locate a more consistent provider.

After some experience with the dentistry office, I was referred to their in house oral surgeon downstairs from them. The surgeon suggested that unless I had braces, all my teeth would fall out and I would need dentures. He then stated that he didn't care and that they weren't his teeth. After asking about my other options with types of braces, he began to get in my face and told me and my girlfriend we were being difficult. My girlfriend began to get frightened and started crying on the spot. This guy was quite possibly the most impolite man I have ever met! I got up and told him that I thought he was completely unprofessional and that we were leaving. He tried to apologize and instead ended up making a big scene in front of a crowded waiting area. It is strange because I had a bad feeling about them beforehand. I've never seen an office try to give an evaluation for wisdom teeth removal and actually try to do it all in the same day. He seemed rushed. I was put on the spot. We almost fought in the office! He was beyond rude! Stay away. Believe the negative reviews.

I am also a dental hygienist in Georgia. Unfortunately, most patients let insurance dictate treatment as well has WHO is rendering treatment. This is the problem we face in dentistry. Most of the "corporate" dental offices, such as Coast Dental and Nanston, accept HMO's and such. These are the "chains" that will try and sell you products, but in all fairness, these products, such as the Sonicare and Rotadent, do work very well for you!
I agree that people need to educate themselves on oral hygiene more. If we all spent a little time in our mouths, we would have a better understanding of how they work. By the way, a hygienist being heavy handed will not "create" a deep pocket that needs a deep cleaning. In a true pocket, bone loss and/or tartar (calculus) will be evident on an xray. And as far as replacing a tooth that has been missing since '88, this is truly the dentist trying to ensure that your back teeth do not shift causing much more harm in the future.
I am one who believes that if you were truly MANGLED by a doctor, then sue. But I also believe that all the sue happy people in the world contribute to a higher cost of health/dental care.

I am writing this to help patients better understand what they were diagnosed with. I am a hygienist not affiliated with Dr. Nutt nor any of his practices. However, it appears from these messages that people are really not being educated as good as they should be on their oral health...or rather they are being educated in the dental chair but not understanding the treatment needed. A regular dental cleaning is not something that any one person can come into any dental office and ask for. It is true that insurance does generally cover all or most expenses for a regular dental cleaning. However, a regular dental cleaning is generally for patients who have been getting their teeth cleaned since they were very young and have continued dental cleanings every 6 months. The next stage of treatment is usually a FMD or Full Mouth Debridement which some insurances cover and some insurances do not cover. Therefore, there would be out of pocket expenses for this cleaning. This type of cleaning would be for a person who has not been to the dentist regularly and does not floss as well as they should. Most cases these patients have more pocket depths and calculus or tartar is felt during the dental exam by the hygienist. The most expensive dental cleaning is the SRP or Scaling and Root Planning...this is usually covered by most insurances and is usually covered by most insurances at 80% leaving 20% to be paid by the patient. This cleaning is for patients who may have never been to the dentist or has waited 2 or more years since their last dental cleaning. There is going to be calculus on radiographs or x-rays and deeper pocket depths of 4mm or more. Each and every person is different and has different dental mouth conditions. Some people take very good care of their mouth at home and do not need some of these deeper cleanings. Some people do not take as good of care as they should and do need these deeper cleanings. What most people do not understand is that flossing is the most important thing that can help keep them from needing these deeper cleanings. Periodontal disease is a disease and statistics in most dental offices everywhere will have 4 out of 5 patients walk into their dental office with Periodontal disease. Some people have symptoms of Periodontal disease and some people to not. So before making rash decisions I feel people should do more research. Look up Periodontal disease on the Internet...take a look at the pictures shown. Medical history and genetics have a good deal with mouth and dental health. I do also believe just as with any profession in the world you have your A' students out there and your C' students out there. So as patients and consumers it is good to get a second opinion if that is what you feel you need. I do believe at times different practices do things different ways. I will be happy to answer questions related to the dental field to help better educate people on some of these matters.

When we moved to Marietta, My insurance company suggested that we come to Dr. Campbell. It was a great recommendation. Dr. Campbell really addressed my issues without suggesting treatment that is completely out of our range and need as some other dentists have done in the past. His hygentists are very gentle and all of the staff are really friendly.

I would certainly recommend this office to anyone searching for a dentist in the area. Dr. Campbell truly cares about his patients and is careful to address their individual needs. The staff at this facility is both polite and helpful. In addition, I find that I am always able to get an appointment within a reasonable time frame.
