Yep, if your pet only eats gourmet food and rides in a car safety seat then this is not your vet. However, if you love your pet and want really good care at a fair price, then you will be happy with Boulevard. The veterinarians do not own a scale that surpasses 30 lbs, but I bet they can estimate a pets weight to just a few ounces. Their no-nonsense approach to pet care and years of experience are a comfort. Neither vet will go on and on about how 'precious' your pet is, but they will respect you and your animal and provide good medical service.

I have had great experiences with both vets at Boulevard. Unlike other vets who constantly push for unnecessary tests, these vets do exactly what the animal needs and do not overcharge. It's a "no frills" office (concrete block building, not much of a waiting room), but then I'd rather that than leave feeling like I'm being cheated. As for the other commenter, I don't think one mistake makes for a terrible vet (if it was his mistake). I know lots and lots of people who have had wonderful experiences at Boulevard and take their pets there all the time. I am definitely one.

Dr. Westmoreland is a terrible vet! If all you need for your pet are shots, then maybe you could settle for Boulevard, but for care and treatment STAY CLEAR OF WESTMORELAND! Let me explain why I feel so strongly about this establishment. I had always gone to Boulevard, from my first animal, to the ones I've rescued along the way, for shots and check-ups. Everything seemed fine - but then I needed real care for my beautiful 9 month old chocolate lab. I woke up to find that she had found a tube of topical ointment (Wal-mart first aid stuff) that I had left on the table in the living room (irresponsible on my part). She had chewed the tube and ingested most of the tube and contents. I call Westmoreland as soon as the office opened, loaded her in the truck, and headed down. He said he would "look it up and call me back." When I got there I rush in. He said "She'll be fine, if she was a ten pound dog I'd worry, but anything we can put on our skin, dogs can ingest. Give him plenty of water today. She'll have an upset stomach, but should be okay by tomorrow." He said he didn't need me to bring her in the office. I trusted his judgement, followed his instructions, but later that night, after my wife had stayed by her side all day, she died. I talked to another vet who was shocked and in disbelief at his advice. It turns out the ointment contains a form of calcium, which in high amounts causes renal (kidney) failure. She needed her stomach contents emptied, and would have been fine. Instead, we lost an amazing pup and were robbed of years of happiness with her. Terrible vet. If he "checked on it" then why didn't he know the information another vet knew without checking anything? Since that happened I have heard quite a few more stories of his ignorance and neglect for his duties. I suggest you find a vet with the same compassion and love you have for your pets...
Thanks!

This is a wonderful veterinarian. Dr. Westmoreland and Dr. Dixon both really care about animals. I also love the fact that you do not have to have an appointment there, in fact they do not make appointments. You just show up with your animal and they go in the order you get there. They are always BUSY, but I have never had to wait over 10 minutes to be seen. IT is a GREAT vet's office.
