Add me to the list of parents disgusted with Marney. You'd think that the owner doesn't matter, since it's the teachers that interact with your child. What these reviews don't disclose is exactly how insiduous this woman's passive-aggression IS. I went there desperate for help with my 4.5 son who has completely regeressed in potty. What I found was a woman who was more interested in $$$ than in training my son. This came with insults to me about how MY focus may be my later goals, but HER focus is the child - because that's just her life.

This "child-centered" life woman did not recognize the name of the lower school in one of the two districts her business serves. She has "nothing to do with the public schools". That's how "child-centered" she is.

I can understand when a parent uses this facility because they absolutely HAVE to. But I'm not in that position. I'm certainly not interested in paying 1050 a month for it.

I am shocked and saddened to read these reviews. I left a few years ago because they didnt have a spot for my daughter and the place I went to was not any better. I am now on my 3rd daycare which is wonderful but also significantly more expensive and the hours are not as good. My son was there from 8 weeks old until he was 19 months old. He was loved and cared for by all, including Marney. I read what everyone wrote about Marney and find it very wrong. I know parents can be demanding as we should be when our children are involved. Marney always listened to my concerns and suggestions and acted on them to her best abilities. I think running a daycare center is a very difficult job to please all the parents who all have different needs and opinions. No daycare center is perfect but your kids will be safe and loved there. Shouldn't that be the focus instead of focusing on Marney??

I Wouldn't say Nana's kids are the BEST daycare in Westchester, my son also went to Nana's kids and loved it. The staff is wonderful and very caring but my issue with the daycare is the owner and how unprofessional she is. I've had multiple conversations with Marney where I have voiced my concerns about the abrupt changes in the center and come to find out that she mockingly repeated our conversations to the staff. This is but one complaint out of the laundry list....enough said.....

Hand's down, Nana's Kids is the absolute BEST daycare Center in Westchester. My Son has been at Nana's Kids for a little over a year now and he Loves it! Everyone in the Staff is warm and treats the children as if they were their own. My son has been learning sooo much and it amazes me everyday the progress he has been making. I find Marney, the Director and Owner to be very professional and yet very compassionate concerning the needs of all the children. She has a lot to over-see with strictly enforced mandated regulations. Knowing my Son is safe, happy and loved every day allows me confidence and peace of mind.
I have gone to the center at different times of the day depending on my work schedule and the atmosphere is ALWAYS pleasant and enjoyable. My hat is off to the entire staff and Marney who works dilligently to keep it all together.
TEN STARS for Nana's Kids! * * * * * * * * * *

I have enjoyed an amazing experience having my 2 children attend Nana's Kids for the past 6 months. It is a wonderful, loving and nurturing place and I have complete peace of mind knowing that my children are being so well taken care of. The Staff are incredible and Marney brings so much joy to each and every child. She is a pleasure to do business with and her first priorities are the children.
Nana's Kids is Second to Home and I am so thankful to have found them.

When I read the comments about Nana's Kids I laughed. It is obvious that all the staff are adored because of how great they are with the children. My family left the center because of the poor business Etiquette of the owner. For many years I only dealt with Zakeya because I refused to deal with Marney. Many of the parents preferred to deal with Zakeya over Marney because at least Zakeya knew what she was talking about. When I heard about Marney firing another good teacher for something stupid and personal I was not shocked and expected nothing less from her.
Marney needs to understand parents don't want to see her face when we pick up our kids after a long day at work. We want to talk to the teachers because they were the ones who was actually with our children all day. Marney was rude and completely disrespectful to many of us, and for those of us who gave her a piece of our minds, we were much happier when we did and left the center. Just because we needed the service she provided does not grant her the right to act as if we owed her something. Especially when we was paying a large fee to receive those services.
I love all the staff, even though they were working with very little and made the best with what they had. Each and everyone of them made my families experience at Nana's Kids a terrific experience until you think of Marney. If I could have removed Marney from the situation I would have never left. Good luck Nana's Kids staff, I hope and prey for much better for all of you that remain.

I have to say that thee staff at Nanna's Kid's for those that love it so much, would never have lasted as long as it has if it wasn't for the previous administrator and the loving and caring staff. The director and owner leaves much to be desired. I am grateful for my experience working there because I meet some amazing children as well as some very tolerant and loving parents. I learned from the director patience and tolerance myself and was able to use that job as a stepping stone as a motivator to get my education. Even though I was fired for speaking my mind years ago, I am better educated and have a better understanding of why people like Marney exist......To elevate people like myself and those that have moved on to reach their full potential. I am now a college graduate and working on a dual masters in early childhood education and special education. If you are looking for somewhere that the staff will love your child like their own Nann's Kid's is the place if you are looking for anything else.............Look somewhere else!

I am shocked at how everyone is talking. It's about time someone put that bat in her place. I thought this day would never come. She needs to know how everyone has felt about her all these years. Hasn't she noticed when she gets rid of good people at the day care we started to like her less. I was happy when she wasn't the person I had to deal with until she got rid of her too. I praised all the people who left or she fired because she didn't deserve them. I cant wait to hear the other excellent staff left because they received a better job. My household laughed when I heard the parents left because she fired a staff and didn't adhere to the parents suggestions. That's called Karma. Sounds like someone is finally getting back all that evilness she has been putting out for years. I couldn't take it either, thats why my kids left and went to a place that had a director who knew about childcare instead of one who used her staff to talk to parents because she didn't know what the hell she was talking about.

Thank you for letting the cat out the bad. My daughter hasn't attended Nana's Kids for a long time but I know all of you are telling the truth. My family didn't leave because I had to leave, we left because I couldn't stand the owner. I would purposely hold my check for an extra three or four days just to see her mad. Only because she would ask you for your check so rude and nasty. I have often wanted to smack her. Thinking back, there were some repairs needed but I would have preferred she spent money on materials for the children. I understood you had to rebuild since the flood but its been years and the toys still look like the same toys other people donated to the center to help out. If she used the money she spends in the nail salon maybe the children would have the proper toys, materials and better food. Its horrible for a business to have a terrible owner when the staff truly love the kids. I too would return to the center if she left. I used to love the day care. So much that I allowed my kid eat meals sitting on the rug when she had no furniture because of the flood. We all have overlooked many of the problems with the center because the workers are great. Too bad the staff can't buy her out.

I am extremely impressed with MB. I'm glad you wrote those comments. I was so sick of smiling in that woman face and running out the door because I didn't want to talk to her. I have never seen a person so inpatient, rude, cheep and fake. I have always wondered did she even go into the classrooms as much as she said. When she would run out her office to tell us our child had a great day and we would talk to the teachers and they would tell us something completely different. Why does she have to lie to us. We want her to stay away from the kids and if you don't know what happens in your center then don't say anything.
I wouldn't say the day care was held up with tape but there are many repairs needed. And yes the staff are wonderful. They were the only reason my child was there for more than 3 years. But sometimes you have to walk away from a service when the owner is the only person damaging the reputation of the center. I agree with one more comment, lets all hope she sells the center or rehire All the good staff she let go who made the parents want to keep their children in attendance of her center. We can only hope!

My children just left Nana's Kids and I have nothing good to say about this day care except the staff was wonderful. The only reason my children attended the center was because the staff all love the children to no end. The owner shows absolutely no concern, care or knowledge regarding child ontogenesis and development. This woman does nothing all day except look out her office with this counterfeit smile and her hands out with a demandable presence requesting our check every month. Once she has our check she is back to her same old rude horrible and unappreciable self. Its obvious our monthly tuition is needed by the owner. Knowing her clients payments are needed, the owner has baffled the parents regarding her domineer knowing we facilitated her need for money. One would thing she would be more appreciative to the clients that keep her center operational. That is why we the parent appreciated the staff for everything they did for our children. As for the over all quality of the center, the food was based on pasta and vegetable meals that seem to rotate on a weekly basis. The classrooms are open and the center is in desperate need of repairs. Everyone has noticed tape holding things up and together and unskilled plastering and painting. I understand someone may mention the extent of time my children attended this center. Only because of the location and the staff that took care of my children. I was willing to over look many of the malfunctions with this day care center. I finally had enough when the educator who taught my child was fired and the suggestions of all the parents in the room was not considered regarding rehiring the teacher or keeping the remaining staff in the class. When asked the reasons behind the termination of the educator we were told a fictional story about a new directions and complaints of over educating the children. This woman refused and disregarded our concerns and suggestion, in turn caused many of us to remove our children from this center regardless of the remaining wonderful staff that was not placed in our children's classroom. I will never return to this center. I keep in touch with the wonderful staff who I also use for after work hour care. BUT, I will never send my kids to this center unless the owner decides to sell the business or hire someone who can run a business better than she can and learn to appreciate the people who keep your business regardless of whom you are.

I am the administrator for Nana??s Kids and I felt I should respond to some comments. Although we may not be in a facility designed for a day care we have turned the space into a fully operational facility. The Office of Children and Family Service (OCFS) which licenses all child care facilities in Westchester County has approved our facility as a fully licensed center with the ability to administer medication. The teachers receive mandatory training every licensing period (2 years) of 30 credits in OCFS approved training courses. According to OCFS the staff has the legal credentials to teach early childhood classes.

Day care is an introduction to school. Day care center teachers are not required to teach on a ??school? level, nor are they required to have the same teaching credentials as school teachers. By law the least a teacher is required to have is high school diploma and or a CDA certificate (Child Development Associate). A Child Development Associate (CDA) is an individual who has successfully completed the CDA assessment process and has been awarded the CDA Credential. CDAs are able to meet the specific needs of children and work with parents and other adults to nurture children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework.

Our head teachers and some staff members have obtained this credential or taking the classes required to obtain these credentials. Other staff members have more than enough college credits which excuse them from the need to obtain these credentials. OCFS verifies these credentials frequently and reviews the mandatory training we have to take every licensing period. Speaking from someone who has worked in other facilities for over 15 years I am very proud of the teachers at this facility. These teachers love and take care of the children as if your children were our children. The love from the teachers is priceless and sincere. All those wonderful comments that were made we greatly appreciate along with your trust over the years. We will continue to operate in accordance to the Office of Children and Family Service and with the love and respect for your children that we??ve had from the beginning.

Thank you all. I hope you all know how happy your kinds words make us feel.

We placed my daughter in the center at about 3 months. The teachers pretty much fell in love with her. She is about to "graduate" out of the center as a happy, healthy, and intelligent little five year old. She has been treated very well and with only occasional headaches (which you will find at any daycare) our experience has been generally positive. In the end, my daughter is a kid and should be spending her time having fun in a loving environment--that is what she has at Nana's Kids.

The good: It is located right next to the Mamaroneck train station. It is open a full 12 hours. The staff is mostly responsive and personable. The staff really does love the kids.

The bad: The facility is in an odd space (it is better than a person's private home, but certainly not built to be a daycare center). The "teachers" are not trained teachers (the staff loves the kids, however, which more than makes up for their lack of teaching credentials).

The other: There is a Jewish focus (this could be good or bad depending on the customer, but for me it was more of a nuisance because of the food restrictions it applied--I got over it).

To sum it up, I would and have recommended Nana's Kids to other families, but always with the caveat that it is "mom and pop"--which can be both good and bad.
---
Update: My comment about "teachers" was not meant to disparage Nana's Kids' staff in any way. As I Noted, I have been pleased overall and would say that several staff members were truly wonderful to and for my daughter and my family. Moreover, the staff clearly has all of the training and licensing necessary to perform the work they perform or the facility would not be open.

My "teachers" comment was an attempt to set expectations for new parents. Daycare IS NOT school, and while the staff at Nana's Kids will expose the children to educational content, it is not their focus to teach them as if they were in a public school.

Again, I have and will continue to recommend Nana's Kids to other parents. I apologize to the staff of Nana's Kids if my remarks were not read as intended.

We are so lucky to have found Nana??s Kids. Our three children spend ten hours a day there. We quickly came to think of the teachers as part of our family in the almost three years we have been attending Nana??s Kids. We can go to work each day knowing our children are safe and well loved. Getting them to leave at the end of the day is always a struggle because they love being at Nana??s Kids. Additonally, the amount that our children have learned, and continue to learn, never ceases to amaze us. Our oldest will be more than ready for Kindergarten in the fall. He keeps surprising us with his math skills and interesting facts that he learns during the thematic learning each month. Our little ones are already counting and singing the alphabet The teachers make learning so much fun that the children do not even realize that they are at ??school.?

My child has been attending Nanas kids for over 2 years now and it has been a wonderful experience. It is very disturbing that people have such negative things to say about this center. this center is amazing in teaching children doing right from wrong. My son comes home every night and very excited because he has learned new things. It amazes me how kind and loving the teachers are and determined to teach the children their sign language, numbers and alphabet. I find it very upsetting what Miss Annoymous wrote regarding Nana's kids. I truthfully believe that if CPS was called it's because they noticed something that was wrong in the child. And if there was a broken arm, nana's kids would not let that go on. They are very responsible, flexible, and caring. I receive a weekly update about what goes on at the center and well as how my son is progressing. They are a god sent to us and I dont see how anyone would say anything negative about them.

My daughter has been at Nana's Kids since she was 3 months old. She has been blessed with having some of the best teachers there. Everyone there is attentive, loving, kind, caring and not afraid of being silly with the kids and firm when it's required. My daughter just turned 2 and she still uses her sign language that she learned. Everyday she comes home with something new that she's learned - her alphabets, counting to 20, nursery rhythms, parts of the body and list goes on. My daughter has a terrible temper and with the help of her teacher's we were able to teach my daughter how to use her words more than getting angry all the time. She know each teacher by name and she has a special bond with all of them. I have a close relationship with all of the teachers. As parents my husband and I make sure that the boundaries that we set for our daughter are grounded and balanced. The staff at Nana's Kids reinforce those boundaries during the day so my daughter keeps the balance at home and school. I have recommended Nana's Kids to at least 4 other parents.

We have been part of the Nana's Kids family since my daughter was 4 months old. I couldn't be happier with the staff, director and owner. I know they truly love my kids and that my kids love them in return. The smile on my daughters' faces when they see their teachers in the morning proves how well cared for they are. They have taught my daughter her letters, numbers, how to count to 15 in Spanish and a whole bunch of other things. I am truly thrilled with the care my girls receive and can't thank the entire staff enough. If you want a superb day care that does not act or feel like an institution this is the one!

I do not want anyone to get the wrong impression about this day care because two people who did not have a great experience. When you have a situation that causes extreme circumstances some people place the blame on others instead of themselves. The office of children and family services would not allow any day care to remain open if they were reviewed poorly by the state on numerous occasions. If anyone is interested in seeing the violations Nana's Kids received from the state, this information is public knowledge. You can go to OCFS web site and look up this information, as I did. I have never seen a group of people who love children as much as the group at Nana's Kids. I am also very happy with the dairy menu provided by Nana's Kids. Upon reviewing the comments I asked the director about the nutritionist and her response was " we have a certified nutritionist who reviews our menu, my daughter is not a nutritionist". Its sad when someone has nothing else better to do than slander good people!

I had my child there for about a year, since I couldn't find a daycare that would take my child until 7 pm when I returned from Manhattan. The back-alley entrance was creepy and had garbage cans with lots of flies in the warm months. They claimed to teach the toddlers sign language, but they only "taught" three words for an entire year - "up" "want" and "more" (I doubt they were ever taught these words at all - my son never "signed" anything!). They did e-mail pictures during the day, which was really fun. We are now at a much more professionally-run childcare center.

This is possibly the worst daycare center ever! They sent our son home with a broken bone, then proceeded to try to blame us! They even had the nerve to call CPS on us, when they knew they were at fault! They didn't even have the decency to refund our (very expensive) tuition for an entire unused month! The last reviewer commented on their Nutritionist - Ha! That is the Owner's daughter, who never showed up once to review a menu! They feed the kids all carbs, regardless of what it does to their systems, and parents requests go unanswered! This center was reviewed poorly several times by the State and it is amazing they are still working with kids!

It's mom and pop meets daycare center. It's a fantastic group who really adore my 11 month old. She's been there almost 9 months and she's really happy there. She's very attached to the teachers there and is kinda weird to drop her off in the morning and she's NOT freaking out. Weird in a good way, of course, LOL! They are a Jewish facility where they wil not serve meat to the children, but they have a nutritionist working with them on the menus for the kids. They can care for infants 6 weeks to toddler up to 3 yrs old.

PROS: very caring
CONS: can be lax on communication
