This place is lots of fun. We purchased an annual pass and have visited 4 times this year. We still have things we have not done. My 2 and 4 year old children love it here!

PROS: lots of fun
CONS: crowded on weekends

I still haven't decided whether it is worthwhile to cough up the nearly 100 dollars for a year-long pass to the Portland Children's Museum. The museum has rotating exhibits (The Mr. Rogers one was especially entertaining), lots of activities, and is located by the Zoo. But, the Musuem is always overrun and crowded, and it is somewhat lackluster if you have ever visited children's museums in other states. A lot of the exhibits, like the Dentist's office, are outdated and a bit decrepit. The water area can be packed to headache level during the weekend and bigger kids often pay no attention and stomp over smaller kids. Save your money for OMSI!

Our whole family enjoys visiting the Children's Museum. The Water Works exhibit is one of our favorites. Some of our other favorites include: Build, Climb, and Construct, the Kids Clinic, The Studios, and Once Upon A Time. There are plenty of educational and entertaining exhibits to keep you and your little ones busy. They have a caring, helpful staff. Membership rates are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Want to introduce your children to some culture and just a plain good time? Then the Children's Museum of Portland is the place to go. They have many exhibits with hands on fun things to experience with your little ones. Lots and lots of exhibits to choose from as well as new ones through out the year for a limited time. Its the place to go to watch your child's face light up while they enjoy the wonderment of learning new things. Children's Museum of Portland is THE spot for you and your kids to have a great time and you will want to keep going back for more.

PROS: great fun and culture

Part of the complex of buildings at the site of the Oregon Zoo, this is exactly what you'd want and expect in a museum for the single-digit set. Exhibits include such things as a pint-sized waterfall, musical instruments and sounds, gardening for kids, shopping for kids, and a place to paint/sculpt, among other activities.

I have found the childrens museum to be a great place for older kids, but not so much for little ones. There are a lot of hands on activities, but they are definitely more tailored to older children. If you have children 3 and under, I think OMSI has a better infant toddler area, and is a better value for the money. If you want to check out the childrens museum, be sure and get a coupon that is in the Entertainment book.

i can't think of a better rainy (or sunny) day activity than a trip to the Children's Museum. Finally, a place you can take your kids where not once do you have to say "don't touch that!". From playing with water toys to face painting, clay, and making as much noise as possible, the Children's Museum has got to be one of the most fun playlands. Not only are your kids having fun, but feel free to roll around with them, and have a little fun yourself! or you can relax and watch them pretend to grocery shop, express themselves artistically, or dress up and be a star!

PROS: everything is recycled, fun, clean, and healthy
CONS: all your kids want to go in different directions.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Children's Museum. There are so many fun activities to do there; it kept the kids occupied all afternoon. Make sure you see a puppet show. The water play area was a favorite with our kids, as was the clay area, where kids could pound, sculpt, and create with pieces of clay. There is also a pretend supermarket where kids can push a shopping cart around and go "shopping" for pretend food. This museum is worth the money, and if we lived closer I would buy a yearly pass.

The Children's Museum is in a new location - in the old OMSI building next to the Oregon Zoo. It is a fun place to spend the day - kids will be entertained for hours upon end with all the varied exhibits and hands-on activities inside the museum.

Some exhibits such as the grocery store/kitchen, the dentist's office and the water play area are always there , and there are often visiting exhibits that are there for just a short time.

They offer dress-up and face painting areas as well, plus a wonderful story time tucked away in the back rooms. Staff will often walk around letting people know of some of the activities that are starting, so be sure to keep an ear out for that.

The museum is especially geared toward younger kids - around 8 and under. Kids in that age group will find plenty to keep them busy and occupied.

PROS: Tons of great exhibits
CONS: Eating area is very small

They will be entertained for hours! With lots of hands on exhibits they will not have a chance to complain about being bored! They have tons of exhibits they are always there as well as some special ones that are only for a limited time. This is a place you can go time and time again! My husband and I enjoy this lively museum filled with hands-on activities and exhibits just as much as our children do! It's so much fun and the perfect place to go on a rainy dreary day! We make a visit here every summer with our children. It's an annual event that we always enjoy.

We've taken our kids (3&5) to the Children's Museum twice (free with our A.C. Discovery Museum memberships) and they've had a great time! I think it's more catered to the preschool age than say OMSI. They've got all sorts of play stations... water, dress up, storytime, music, etc. They dont have much to offer there for food other than a few vending machines though, so eat before you go, or take food with you (They've got some tables by the vending machines). It's a fun day!!

So much fun to be had! There are plenty of hand's on areas here! A dramatic play area including a grocery store, kitchen, and restaurant.

There is a creative art area with lots of pens, paints, and tools for little ones to adults.

A clay studio with potting wheels for the more experienced.

Dramatic dress up areas with silly fun house mirrors, tee-pees, forts, etc.

Water play areas too.

Bring your own picnic or dine from their vending machines.

Annual Memberships are highly recommended!

PROS: Interactive Fun for ages 0 - 101!
CONS: Expensive for families if you do not have an annual pass.

The Portland Children's Museum is not
just for children. I like it too! If you are
going out for culture stop at both
museums in the area and check
out the exhibits. They are always
changing.

If you have kids and its a rainy day (or even sunny day)
try the Children's museum. My grandkids love it and
there is so much, you can spend hours seeing
interesting things.
