The zoo is fine, well maintained and fun. However, the prices make it impossible for most families to visit. At $13.25 for adults and $10 to park it is ridiculous. You would almost be better off going to a baseball game! You shouldn't have to join a society to be able to afford to go to the zoo. My advice is wait for the "free" days and park on the street.
This is a huge zoo located in Milwaukee, WI. You won't be disappointed. Gift shop & food court is a little pricey but they all are. Plan on lots of walking and the train is a must ride. They offer a variety of different animals you can see within the zoo. The prices are affordable, but it can be difficult to park if you don't want to pay high prices for using the zoo parking lot.
The zoo is very good. Clean. But it costs a lot to do all the extras. It was well worth the money to feed the giraffes, but you need to sign up early. It was also worth the money to get the grandmother's pass. It was less expensive because parking was paid for and Grandma could take all the kids plus another adult. It also is easier to stay for a few hours then leave and come back another day. (to accomodate naps) The food is expensive, but there is a large picnic area.
I've visited the Zoo various times throughout my life and it's at least somewhat interesting each time. There is a wide variety of animals and always some interesting stuff to look at. Like most places with animals, it can get stinky. The food prices are also on the high side. Overall, a decent place to go if you've never been there - or if you haven't been there in a while.
CONS: Food Prices
The Milwaukee County zoo, in my opinion, is a great zoo to visit. There is a ton to see. I have been to many zoo's throughout the US, and this zoo has a lot to offer. There are many different areas including the primates, the aquarium, the reptiles, the children's zoo area, and tons of outdoor exhibits. There is a train to ride, and a carousel. Lots of concessions. Our family has a membership, and we have gone to many of the night events that the zoo holds. A taste of Milwaukee is a nice food event to attend. The gift shop, of course, is overpriced, but you will be sucked in if you have any children with you. Another place not to miss if you live in the area or are visiting.
PROS: Tons of different exhibits
CONS: overpriced gift shop, food is too.
If you are in need of some great exercise while entertaining the kids at the same time, try a zoo membership. The Milwaukee County zoo is a great zoo. They have a wide range of animals and in great realistic habitats. You can get a family membership that includes free parking for under $75 per year. They have animal rides, train rides, zoomobile, shows, carousel, plenty of places to eat and special exhibits. In addition, they are open at night in the summer and around Christmas which is wonderful to see all the lights. The staff are friendly and the grounds are spectacular
The Milwaukee County Zoo is a must see for everyone. It is a spectacular zoo with new exhibits such as the new feline building, a far cry from the old feline exhibit. It allows you up close visiting with the felines.
The rest of the zoo is excellent as well. Prices are somewhat high, so make sure you make a day of it.
I would also recommend bringing lunch in (lots of picnic areas) and simply buying drinks.
The Milw Co Zoo is one of the best in the best in the US. It keeps animals in their natural habitats, and more interestingly, places predators very near their prey, kept away only by moats in most instances.
A wonderful zoo at a great price. If you are a Milwaukee County resident, show your id on Mondays and get in for reduced admission.
While visiting some family up in Milwaukee we decided to take the kids to the Milwaukee Zoo. Admission to this zoo was $9.75 for adults and $6.75 for kids. Parking was an outrageous $8! This is a really great zoo with lots of great animal exhibits. It's huge and you really need a map to see everything. My kids loved the penguins swimming around right as you go in the park. The zoo was pretty crowded the day we visited so we didn't get to see everything we wanted to. Overall, it was a nice zoo but it wasn't worth the $41 for a family of 4 (for admission and parking) just to get in the door.
It is nice to take the kids here although prices are high so look for tickets at a discount before you arrive. The nice thing is they allow you to take in picnic lunches so you don't have to buy food in there.
The zoo itself is always clean and the animals are well taken care of. They have a large parking lot with plenty of parking. The zoo is large enough that even on busy days you are able to move around easily.
A trip to the Milwaukee Zoo is a fun activity for the whole family. In fact I recommend that if you have small children you should get a Zoo Membership. This enables you to go to the Zoo for free any day of the year. When my kids were young we went at leat once a month - all year round. In fact today my kids are in their 20s and they still talk about our times when I would take a book and sit in the Childrens Area and they would play in there for hours. The most fun time of the year is a nice warm day during the Winter. You get special treatment and we got to go "behind the scenes" with Zoo personnell many times.
The Milwaukee Zoo is huge. There are so many animals, shows, and things to see that you spend the entire day there. The animals each have a habitat that suites its needs. And there are so many of each animal that there is always something interesting to see. It is definately worth the drive if you are not from the area.
This zoo has everything you could want, except the polar bear that doesn't always show his face. :) But everything is really spaced out! While that's great for the animals, it's hard on the feet. Bring a few strollers, and hey, a wheelchair or two for the kids to push Mom and Dad when they get tired! And don't forget the money or your own lunch! There's places to eat there, for both options. My senior prom was held at this zoo, so I'm rather fond of it.
PROS: Great place with tons of animals
CONS: You have to walk a LOT
The Milwaukee County Zoo is such a huge zoo that you can spend an entire day there and not see and do everything that there is there. They have several different kinds of animals, each with its own habitat that is well suited for the animal. There are animal shows daily. The sea lion show is a lot of fun to watch. They also have gift shops and food places so everyone can find something they like. It doesn't cost too much to go, and they have different promotions, since it's not something you do everyday it's not too bad.
HELLO ALL - I HAVE TO TELL YOU OF THE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAD AT THE ZOO. IT WAS GREAT - IOT REALLY WAS GREAT! THE KIDS HAD A GREAT TIME AND WERE HAPPY THE ENTIRE TIME. WE SEEN AN ARAY OF ANIMALS HERE - IT WAS VERY COOL AND WE ALSO HAD LUNCH HERE TOO. THEY OFFERED BURGERS, HOT DOGS, AND EVEN SOME VERY GOOD HEALTHY FOOD FOR THE KIDS. THE GIFT SHOP HERE WAS WONDERFUL AS WELL. WE WERE ABLE TO GET LITTLE SOUVINERS FOR ALL THE KIDS AT A GREAT PRICE
What a great place! My family loves the animals, big and small! We go to the zoo every chance we get! It is always a wonderful experience. Also, we love the train ride, as you really get to see the zoo from a different perspective. Our favorite animals are the lions, tigers and the monkeys. It is so fun to go to Monkey Island and watch them play.
The Milwaukee County Zoo is the BEST!!
They have a huge assorment of animals. There are always new and exciting things coming to the zoo as traveling exibits.
The new lion exibit has just been opened. Come face to face with the king himself!
Every "Mother's Day" I receive a Zoo Pass Plus. It makes a great gift!
PROS: Zoo pass is great if you plan on visiting often
The Milwaukee Zoo is great for a day out with the family. Admission & parking can be a bit pricey so if you think you might visit more than once, look into purchasing a pass. The exhibits are nice, though there can be a lot of add ons (the merry-go-round, sea lion show). As of summer 2005, the zoo is re-doing the wild cat exhibit and has been working to get rid of typical "cages" and aiming for a more natural habitat. It's a nice place to go, and there are plenty of picnic tables and benches to relax.
Now, I haven't been to any zoo BUT Milwaukee County Zoo, but I'd have to say, it's great. The exhibits are always clean, the animals are always well taken care of, and the special attractions are worth going to the zoo for. Fun for all ages, you could spend an entire day there without being bored.
If you do go, be sure to check out the train! It's my daughter's first stop when we go, and I have to say that at 24 years of age, it is my favorite part, too. It goes all the way around the zoo and you see everything!
Be sure to check out Skate through the zoo and the night events, they are all fun.
Get the family together and get out to the zoo!
A great place to take this kids for a day of fun! The only thing I wish I could change about it is the open/close times... extended hours would be nicer for families with younger children who cannot take babies out in the mid-day heat like we've currently been having!
Pack a lunch and pack up the kids, a wonderful day at the zoo awaits you! Stroll the grounds at your own pace and take in all of the fun and interesting animals. There are plenty of places to stop and rest for a moment. Be sure to take your camera and make a day of it!
The Milwaukee Zoo will keep you and your family busy for the entire day.
Wonderful exihibts of animals from all over the country.
A wonderful train ride is there also for a nominal fee.
Why not join the Milwaukee Zoological Society? A few bucks more for a parking pass and you can come home to the animals anytime you want for 365 days a year.
Special features, exihibits and more for members only.
Easy on and off acess. Handicapper friendly.
and that is a good thing! It's a great zoo. If you plan to visit more than once a season, buy a zoo pass. It will probably cost you less.
