this place has the best yeast donuts in town, it does tend to be very busy in the morning, and if you are picking up donuts for a meeting or work, i'd recommend calling ahead and placing your order for pick up, but once you have a donut from Long's you'll go back time and time again

These doughnuts taste very close to a bakery in my hometown (the same bakery who put Dunkin Doughnuts out of business). The doughnuts are very fresh. We buy them dozens at a time at work. Everybody comes out of the woodwork when you tell them they're from Long's. Their brownies are delicious. I have had their wedding cake one time, and it was also exceptional. I would highly recommend a trip to Long's Bakery!!!

For decades Long's bakery dominated the market for hot doughnuts on Indy's West (and south) Side.

They are conveniently located at 16th and Tremont (one street west of Laffayette Road) and was started in Carl Long's very own garage turned bakery in the 1950's. Where the old house still remains attached to the front of the bakery.

Long's bakery has lasting fond memories for many of Indy's "Kid's of the Baby Boom" but sometimes history with a favored business can only take us so far.

In recent years I have become exceedingly disappointed in Long's abilities in other area's such as Cakes and other baked goods. Their pricey yet limited selection has cause myself and many others to select other bakery suppliers for these services.

~Don't get me wrong, their delicious hand made buttercream icing is the best.

If you are looking for a creative birthday cake, you'll have to go somewhere else. You won't find Sponge Bob here.

I've also become increasingly disappointed in some of the specialty doughnuts. Their famous cream filled doughnuts that used to melt in my mouth and were oh so delicious (while pregnant with my fist child I couldn't get enough). Have now become smaller, "cakey" and dry out in just a few short hours.

Compared to the continued success of their yeast doughnuts; I'm sure the lack of baked good business doesn't create a dent in what they do in yeast's.

Long's has been and I'm sure will continue to stay in bussiness running just as it has been for years.

Moving into the next millinium would be a good change for Long's.

Then again, just as the history of the old place brings back nostalgia and longing for the comfort of the 1950's for many Hoosiers. Long's will remain tried and true and continue to provide said comfort with the best Hot Fresh Yeast Doughnuts in town.

PROS: Awesome Hot Yeast Doughnuts
CONS: A little lacking in the Cake area

This is the best place to go on weekend mornings to catch a fresh dozen of doughnuts. They have many different kinds to choose from as well as many other yummy treats!

Long's Bakery has been around for decades. We had heard raves about Krispy Kreme, but they've got nothing on Long's. Offering several varieties of donuts (my favorite is the creme filled Long Johns) at a lower price than Krispy Kreme, Long's has two locations, on W 16th St, and at 2301 E. Southport Rd in downtown Southport.
