We've bought several unusual pieces at Shoguns and enjoy going to First Thursdays there as well. The staff is knowledgeable and can talk about the history of the furniture, down to what kind of wood was used to make the piece. Some of it's original, some is restored, all of it is beautiful. There's also wide array of teacups and other small items to accessorize your home.

More antiques than arts, Shogun's doesn't have all the cloths and fun kitch that you get from your typical import store. What it does have is many very beautiful pieces of antique furniture. The store is filled wiht gorgeous dark woods, intricate drawer systems and fascinating old hardware. If I had a house and a good deal of expendable income, I would certainly consider furnishing my house with Shogun's pieces. For those of you with houses but not a great deal of expendable income, they also have a clearance room and a discount corner with pieces of much the same style. It's worth checking out if you're into asian-style stuff.
