this place houses the city's finest orchestra, and other venues like ballet, concerts, and sometimes even stand-up comedy! i personally saw ray charles once, up close, and almost personal! the prices for the tickets of course vary with the venue, but orchestra tickets are practically nothing, and good for a night to just sit and unwind.

PROS: variety of venues
CONS: hard to find parking

The Schnitz really is a great venue to see a concert, play, or speaker. The architecture is gorgeous--like you just stepped into Vienna. The acoustics are very good and the seating provides good views of the stage whether you are in the orchestra or far balcony.

This is a great place to catch a show--any show will do. It has the feeling of an old-time theater and the sound is great. The Schnitz is a Portland landmark and shouldn't be missed. It's small and intimate, and every seat is a good one. The musicians who come here are varied, both in genre and in level of fame--I've seen the symphony, an opera, Counting Crows, Peter, Paul, and Mary, among several others. I think it's the best venue in Portland.
