Northside Veterinary clinic is a wonderful place for animals. I have been going there for 10 years, and even though the neighborhood has changed and the hospital has gotten busier and busier, the veterinarians still take their time to explain everything and do the right thing. Options are always given, and although recommendations are made, I like the fact that nothing is pushed onto you. The staff is friendly and seem very competent. I tell my friends about this place and figured I would tell the world through the internet.

My dog was recently seen on an emergency visit 5/13/2011. They did everything to ensure my dog was comfortable, felt safe and she diagnosed on the spot and given treatment. They did not try to take me for my money. They know she needed x-rays but informed us that since she would be getting hospitalized it would be best for the hospital to take the x-rays so I wouldn't have to pay double. They were not out to make money from me. They were looking out for my dogs best interest as well as cost efficient. Dr. Lehman even went as far as calling me from his home Sunday afternoon to check up on my dog. They operate from their hearts and that makes a world of a difference.

I've been to them 3 times. Each time, they are very good at making my cats experience gentle & nonthreatening. Dr. Eisner is gentle & fair. She works with us & our finances. She did NOT try to see how many test she could order to increase the price as so many Vets do. She took her time with me & explained all my options & what we could afford. Our cats have done great. Thank you soooo much.

I have been going to Northside for a number of years, I chose them since they have been around for many, many years. I started going there with my cat and an older dog.
Dr. Eisner has been amazing with my old dog keeping him comfortable

I will not get into the specifics of what another veterinarian did to correct the neglect and oversight of what Dr. Eisner provided...but I will review my experience.

The girl at the front desk was a gem. She seemed to delegate the rants of 'manager', the doctor, and two of the assistants while juggling welcomes and check outs of the patients. (She gets the one star from the review)

The 'manager' (who seemed more a glorified receptionist with inventory responsibilities) was infuriating. She was rather rude on the phone, (sounded impatient). At the office she verbally stepped into conversations she was not a part of, and usually spoke over staff who was beginning to explain the information I and others asked.

Dr. Eisner seemed to let frustrations from past patients carry over into my appointment. I did not bring my cat in to also offer talk therapy to this woman. I do not care to hear of personal conflict with other patients. Additionally, she seemed to give less care and hesitate to interact with lower income patients/owners. I was open minded to holistic medicine, as I seek it for myself and I use to see a holistic veterinarian for my dog while living in Delaware, but she seemed to treat to mask the symptoms rather than actually address the problem. No blood work suggested...which was alarming to me to put an animal on meds without a baseline to judge from.

The assistants were kind, but impersonal. I think it's understandable, considering their superiors seem rather taxing. With this being said, staff who can keep up a positive and welcoming energy throughout the day despite the affects of working along side those who are there. The one knew a ton about parasites and nutrition...I appreciated the information.

This place is a circus...and not the fun kind where you are entertained...

I cannot say enough about Dr. Eisner and her staff at Northside. My doberman developed severe arthritis and a heart condition earlier this year and a Cardiologist we were seeing recommended accupuncture as a complementary treatment. We travel about an hour every month to see "Dr. Barbara" when there are plenty acupuncturists in our area of Manhattan to take him to. Not only have I observed significant improvement with my dog and his ability to move around, but I have also seen a big change in his attitude with the change Dr B had us do in regards to his diet. It is refreshing to go to a vet that takes the time to explain what she sees in my dog and why she recommends the treatment she does, especially since I come from a family of doctors who don't really know anything about Eastern medicine. It is also refreshing to have a vet that shows real compassion and treats your animal as they should be treated - like a member of your family and not "just a pet". I am grateful to have found this clinic when we did.

ZERO STARS- This clinic has taken a nose dive. If you want your animal misdiagnosed, prescribed unnecessary medications, charged vulgar fees and enjoy being treated with condescension?this is your place. We were loyal clients, who have directly experienced what the neighborhood animal lovers have all been saying for the past 2 years. Avoid this establishment.

You hear of horrible veterinarians who will try to take advantage of the scared ignorant owner and their sick pet. You hear of veterinarians who care more about their bottom line than what comes out of your dog's bottom.
This is not the case at this vet clinic! I have seen all 3 doctors with my pets, and I can say, without any question, these are the most caring and honest vets I have ever taken my guys to - even the most cynical pet owner can trust them.

The staff is just as equally kind, I have never experienced such excellent customer service from a health care institute, even human ones.

I brought my old lady in, who was experiencing troubled breathing, and fainting episodes. Dr. Leiman saw us, and went through a series of tests, and took the time to explain everything to me. He made a referral to a great cardiologist, and now I can honestly say her quality of life has increased ten fold.

I will be honest, it has cost me quite a bit, but it really is worth it when my dog no longer has to wake up in the middle of the night because she can't breathe, and that she can actually enjoy a walk longer than 10 minutes long without difficulty.

A miscommunication happened, and I came in for an echocardiogram on a day it couldn't be done because Northside hadn't scheduled it in advance. Dr Eisner was extremely apologetic and gave me a free product for her heart as compensation for my trouble. She also spent a good while explaining to me why I should alter what I feed my dog to help her heart- apparently increasing the fat in her diet will be very good for her.
I feel that at any other facility, I would have gotten an apology at best and that's it.
I cannot recommend this facility highly enough.

worst vet ever ...

I inquired for a house-call vet and they have a doctor there, Dr. Daniel Leiman, who does house-calls ... he turned downa a house call to see my dog because apparently I have a tough dog?! ... and he hasn't even met my dog and what is he basing this on? ... he kept blabbing about how he loves animals and he can't help them if he gets hurt?! wtf is this doctor on! ...

You can turn down the house call request but to hastily do it based on no substantial reason is ridiculous and to blab about how he loves animals?! yeah ... that's showing a lot of love right there Dr. Lieman ...

And further more ... he then suggests I bring him in the clinic?! ... DUH?!?! are you stupid Dr. Lieman? ... that's why I'm calling for a house call in the first place! -coz I don't want to bring him to the clinic because the dog gets nervous and anxious when he's there ... but he's not tough and out to get you -wtf?! where'd you get that? ... Dr. Lieman, I will give you a million dollars if this dog comes to even hurting you if during a house visit ...

you turned down the house call which is such an insult to my pet and I ... and YOU DIDN'T EVEN TRY!!! is the worst part! ... I called you and within 5 seconds into the conversation you right away said 'your dog is tough and I have to turn you down' and that was it! ... you haven't even met the dog!

I hope when you get sick and before you even see the doctor, I hope they say 5 seconds into your conversation:

'you're a tough case I have to turn you down'

I've never actually written a review for anything or anyone before, but I feel pretty strongly about Northside Animal Hospital. I have an older, blind cat and a new puppy. Both animals have very different needs, but both animals are extremely comfortable at Northside. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. They always remember me and always remember my pets. I feel like I'm visiting a pediatrician when we go in; not a vet. The absolutely precious front desk staff refers to our pets as our "kids" and the techs come out and play with the animals during the few minutes we wait to be seen. Their facilities are clean, and although the waiting area is small, it feels comfortable. Dr. Leiman is wonderful about breaking everything into terms I can understand so I never have any question about what I should be doing to keep my animals in great health. There is always a staff member with their hands loving on my dog and cat when we visit, ensuring their comfort. I simply will not entrust my pets' health to anyone else as long as distance permits.

After a bad experience at another Brooklyn vet, my puppy was a very nervous vet visitor before we found Northside. But Dr. Leiman and the office staff/vet techs put my puppy (and me!) at ease in the first five minutes of our visit. Hudson (the dog) continued to love visiting Northside (seriously he drags me up the steps - must be those treats) throughout a long, pretty stressful series of stomach problems involving lots of poking/prodding and several painful shots.

I was really blown away by the quality of care while my dog was sick. After ruling out all the conventional explanations, Dr. Leiman called in Dr. Eisner to consult so we could explore food allergies/alternative diets etc. Both doctors were so caring and available throughout the process: Dr. Leiman called me on several Sundays with test results and responded to lengthy emails promptly at all hours. A few times, I called the clinic early in the morning with an emergency and got an immediate call back.

We ran a lot of tests on Hudson because I'm of the better-safe-than-sorry school, but I never felt like I was being pressured into unnecessary tests. Dr. Leiman always explained the pros and cons (and cost) of each test and left the final decision up to me. Hudson's happy and healthy now, and I absolutely attribute it to the great vets at Northside and their willingness to explore every option. I don't think any other vet would have talked me through as many diets/responded to so many emails.

The only downside is the small waiting area, which is a pain with a 60-lb., still rambunctious 9-month-old puppy. I just book the first appointment of the day and get there a little early - they usually get me in and out before things get busy.

I've been taking my dog Frankie here for a whole now. Dr. Eisner is great! She's friendly and knows what she's doing. Just seeing all her diplomas and certifications on the wall, and you will know you brought your pet to the right place. This is no second rate vet's office! (For the gay community members reading this, there is a cutie working there worth the visit too!)

I had seen other vets before for my dogs but I will say, hands down, this was the best place I have ever been too. I originally found it from google when I moved to Williamsburg, but I hope my friends visit by word of my mouth. The receptionist was welcoming when we came in. Dr. Mundshine was a great doctor full of information on how to better care for my pet(s). I look forward to future appointments with their holistic doctor on staff I was informed of. One of their technicians for animals brought a smile to my face and he had great energy with my dog. He appears to have much experience and information as well. When you bring your pet to this clinic, make sure to have your appointment with these two. With the impression they set, I am sure the entire staff is outstanding as well!

I brought my cat in for a recheck on her dental procedure today and feel so good about this clinic I want to shout it to everyone who loves their pet. 3 weeks ago my little white cat was barely eating and drooling constantly. The antibiotics I was giving him from another vet clinic were only making him afraid of me. I had heard about Northside from a person I happened to meet at a barbershop, and decided to go there for a second opinion. Dr Eisner looked at him and called in the other vet, Dr Lehman. After really examining his mouth, Dr Lehman thought the best thing would be to remove all his teeth. To say I was upset about that is an understatement, but after listening to Dr Lehman explain what was going on, I began to feel maybe this would be the best thing to do in the long run. This vet seemed confident and was able to explain the disease and the treatment options in terms I could understand. So he had his "total mouth extraction" 2 weeks ago, and so far, everything has worked out so well I am thrilled. At his recheck today, I could clearly see how much better his mouth looked.
The pain is gone, the odor is gone, and even though the gums are still a little red, he is doing great. Oh I should also say, the total price for the dental surgery was about $600, which isn't a bad deal for getting my cat back to purring.

I can number myself among everyone else I know who is thankful to be clients at this clinic. Although the vet I see most often is Dr. Eisner, I can say that every vet I have seen at Northside has been professional, kind, compassionate and thorough. I had seen Dr Leiman and Dr Eisner with a number of rescues (they actively give assistance to a number of rescue groups) before I started coming here with my own pets. On new or different information thy have always treated me with respect, even when we have disagreed about certain issues.
This hospital and everyone who works there should be cloned!

About a year ago, my dog Cheyenne was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and developed a problem in her blood vessels as a result.
She was given prednisone by a vet in the city and has been told that she will need it for life. I came to Dr Eisner recently, for a second opinion and to
see if there was anything natural that could be done. The first thing that she did, was give Cheyenne special glandulars for her adrenal glands. She explained that the prednisone could be taxing for the adrenal glands and that the glandulars would help keep the adrenal glands in better shape. Cheyenne is now doing so much better, has more energy and now needs less of the prednisone. At the present time, we are also doing special saliva testing to see if we can get her off the prednisone completely. Dr Eisner has also advised us not to vaccinate our "baby".
We are so glad we found this clinic. With so many vets who routinely give 4 or 5 vaccines at one visit , it is refreshing to find a place like Northside Veterinarian Clinic in New York. Many thanks to Dr. Eisner and Dr. Leiman!

I didn't realize when I went here that it's a holistic clinic. Then I found out the holistic vet won't prescribe real medicine at the expense of my dog's health. 6 months, hundreds of dollars, and my dog's still sick.

This place obviously has a full-time on-staff public relations person checking these review every single day. As soon as a posted a negative review online, I got a call the next morning a PR agency who sent me my vet records and apologized that I was unsatisfied with Northside's vet care. Then a bunch of positive reviews appeared on Yelp, Citysearch, etc. Their PR does damage control for Eisner, I get it. I know the business, but is it ethical to use the same-old PR strategy when we're talking about healthcare? This isn't a moving company, this is the health of your beloved pet.

I went to a new vet in Williamsburg and had my frenchie treated for skin allergies. They took blood and found out exactly what was causing all his trouble, in just a week he's on to better living through chemistry. Thanks to Paws & Claws.

This animal clinic has been in the area for about 20 years; I have been a client for about 17 of those years. I am on my third generation of cats now with Drs Leiman and Eisner, and I can honestly say the quality of care , while always good, has only gotten better. Yes, they are busier than they used to be, and yes their prices have gone up. but the warmth, compassion and competence has remained stellar. I feel they are always doing their best to keep my cats healthy and long lived, and their best gets better and better.

I'm a volunteer with a national dog rescue organization and have been taking my own 2 dogs, as well as a constantly revolving parade of dogs in my foster care, to Dr Lehman and Dr Eisner for many years. The friendly staff has always provided wonderful service, and my dogs have never received anything but thorough exams and thoughtful diagnoses from both vets. Sometimes they collaborate (they are husband and wife after all) on a particularly mysterious issue to better determine the best treatment. I also appreciate their holistic approach -- Dr Eisner will frequently suggest herbal and natural suppliments rather than going straight to a drug treatment, and both vets' take on nutrition is driven by a deep understanding of holisitc animal health, not just by what commercial food companies want them to recomend.

this is the first vet that did not ask me why my dog is not neutered with the follow up "well, you know they may have health problems" (and i've done my own research into rutgers vet school and there is a good paper published (google it) mentioning how neutering smaller dogs is actually not so great for them, and how benefits are minimal/nonexistent). they also told me about the risks and side effects of vaccines, going into detail as to which ones were more "risky" in terms of side effects. no other vet did that -- they all just tried to rush past my questions. i was able to explore alternatives to automatic vaccinations through titers. we also discussed food and lifestyle issues pertaining to my boston terrier. although i had to wait in the waiting room for a bit, i ultimately received plenty of time during the visit. this may be due to the fact that i have scheduled both of my appointments as the last appointment of the day. in any case, i appreciated speaking with both dr. eisner and dr. leiman. i have not yet had a serious issue with my pet so i cannot speak on that matter, but generally i will be going back to them for checkups.

I first brought my 6 month old puppy, Otto, to visit Dr. Eisner on a recommendation. Otto was throwing up bile every morning and my very expensive and glamorous vet in Chelsea was trying different anti-acids on him without much effect! Dr. Eisner could not understand why he was being treated like an old dog and immediately tested him for a parasite. My former vet in Chelsea had told me parasites could not possibly be the problem. Otto tested positive for parasites and immediately was treated and was fine within a couple of days.
I now have two dogs and see either Dr. Eisner or Dr. Leiman who are both fantastic. I really appreciate how they will consult one another if they want another opinion and will give you different options for treatments-either more holistic or traditional medicine. Both doctors make you feel fine whichever way you choose to proceed. They do not behave as my last vet who was a self professed know-it-all god and they have a balanced approach and have given me perfectly understandable explanations as whether to treat my dogs holistically or with medicine. I will admit to being particularly cautious about my dog's health, as a dog I had previously had numerous health problems and died very suddenly. Drs. Eisner and Leiman will always call me back and the office staff and nurse/assistants are so lovely and take amazing care of my dogs (and their neurotic owner). I really feel they care about their patients and are not just a money making business. This veterinary practice gets my highest recommendation.

I had really given up hope that my two-year old cat would get better. This is the fourth vet that I've seen and the other three were extremely competent. But once I went to see Dr Eisner, within ten days my cat's ears were better.
I was skeptical about holistic veterinary medicine and that's why I went to the other three doctors first and we did the following: three different rounds of antibiotics, CT Scan, two months of oral anti-fungal medication, we put her on an "allergy-free" diet and constant ear cleansing agents. AND STILL MY CAT NEVER GOT BETTER!
Dr Eisner prescribed my cat a Chinese herbal medication, provided me with an herbal salve for the outside of HER ears, began acupuncture treatment, and she changed her diet to rabbit only.
After seven weeks, my cat's energy level is high; she's playing, jumping. I haven't seen her behave like this in seven months!
I am very impressed and very grateful.

The people who work at this veterinary clinic really take the time to help your pet be healthy. They don't just vaccinate every year for everything, they consider your pet as an individual, and discuss preventative nutritional alternatives to prescription medications. They do use conventional things like antibiotics of course, but when they do, it is with thought and concern about the potential for side effects. I have taken my dog here for the past three years, and even though he is 13 years old now I feel he looks and acts BETTER than he did when he was 10 years old. They are quick to reply by phone or email to any concerns I have had. I wish my own doctor took care of me as well.

Drs. Eisner and Lehman have been treating my animals for several years now. I have never, ever had a negative experience with either one of them. They are very good doctors and they know their stuff. They offer clear advice on both current health problems your pet may be experiencing and wellness suggestions as well. They like animals and it is evident in the way they handle mine. The staff is involved and caring with all procedures; if they are stressed at times, it's like any other business, not unlike the law firm where I work--when you're good, everyone wants your services, so phones ring and clients visit in multitudes. I have personally witnessed the staff under stress numerous times, and they kept their cool. That's the nature of a good business. If negative reviews on here are indicative of anything, it would be of neurotic pet-owners with unrealistic expectations of the cost of pet care and what goes along with it. They need to get a grip.

I have been taking my cats to Northside Vet since I moved to Brooklyn four years ago. These guys are FANTASTIC!! I appreciate their use of traditional medicine as well as holistic healing.
Everyone there is extremely caring. For all those who think that they are "pushy" about using only good, quality foods- GET WISE! It's only because they want the absolute best for your pets... even if you don't.
I would recommend Northside to anyone whether you live in Brooklyn or not.

I brought my cats in for the first time and was blown away. They were caring, thorough and paid attention to every last detail. I was talked out of over-vaccination
and was very pleased with the bill. Since both my cats live together, obviously, and share the same litter pan , the poop test that was done was combined in order for me to save money.
Love this place.

Do your best little friend a favor, and go to this wonderful vet.
We moved to Brooklyn with our elderly beagle Thurman 4 years ago. We rescued Thurman when he already had health issues, and knew we needed to find a good, quality vet. We first tried the one associated with BARC, and while I love the shelter, the vet left a bad taste in our mouth. Thurman had issues, and we needed someone who would look at him as an individual and care for his specific needs. We then went Northside vet and were seen by Dr. Eisner. Dr. Eisner took a heart-felt liking to Thurman, and cared for him as I would.
We had to go down a sad and dark road with Thurman, ultimately ending in the toughest decision of my life. I felt that Dr. Eisner was right there for my family, holding our hands (and paws) through a very sad and hard time. She put so much time and thought into what would help Thurman have the highest quality of life he could while we still had him. Dr. Eisner called me at home to help me with heart-wrenching decisions and was willing to try anything to help. When we ultimately had to put our beloved beagle to sleep, Dr. Eisner cried with us, and gave him a loving goodbye.
I have had animals my entire life and have encountered countless vets. Dr. Eisner and Dr. Leiman are BY FAR the most caring, the most helpful, and have an incredible balance between Eastern and Western practices that specifically address your pets individual needs. I can not praise them enough for all they do for our four-legged friends.

I saw Dr. Leiman last week for the first time. I just moved to Greenpoint relatively recently and I had been going to Animal Kind Clinic in Park Slope before. After reading the reviews here, I was terrified of going.. not because I thought they'd harm my pets, it just seemed like there were an awful lot of very strong opinions about the level of care animals were getting here.

I never ever write these reviews, but I'm doing so to say the care was top notch here. I saw Dr. Leiman, and he was amazing. My dogs usually freak out at the vet, and although they were still scared, he just got them under control immediately. That's never happened at any other vet's office I've been to before.

He spent a LOT of time with us and gave us a lot of behavioral advice. He answered all of our questions and was quite patient with us. He's a five star doctor in my opinion. People also seem to complain a lot of about the office staff, but I didn't have any problems with them. I had to wait a bit, but they weren't rude or anything. I'm a little bit unclear on that, but I figure anyone can have a bad day. Maybe that's what's happened in the past?

I'm giving them 4 instead of 5 stars simply because of the following reasons: 1) the office is a little cramped. The waiting area is pretty small- which isn't usually a problem for me- but my dogs were so stressed by being at the doctor, I wished I had more space to control them. One is cat-crazy and I just felt like I was restraining her the whole time. Hopefully they'll get a bigger office as they grow! 2) they charged me for "medical waste" which I'm assuming was when they wiped up the urine from my dogs being scared. This seemed unnecessary. It may not have been that, but I've never been charged for medical waste before. They should include it in the lab fee-- it's a little bit insulting to see that on a bill. 3) the costs add up and it gets pricey.

These things barely matter if the doc is good. We'll gladly see Dr. L again.

This is THE place, not only in Williamsburg, but in all of NYC to take your beloved pet.
The vets are experienced, kind, and competent.
They are not expensive by NYC standards.
They care about people, too.
I recently went through a very difficult time with my 16 year old cat who developed a tumor in his stomach.
Both doctors who took care of him were competent and extremely understanding of what I was going through emotionally. They took their time to explain everything to me, and offered me options as well as their own opinions as to what I should do. The medicine they had me give him allowed him to have 3 good months before he declined. In the end, when I decided to let him go, the procedure was done softly and quietly. (Tears) Believe me, this is a wonderful place.

I have been looking for an animal hospital with doctors who are experienced and trustworthy, as the last 2 places I brought my cats were staffed by young doctors in white jackets right out of school who didn't really know how to handle my babies, much less figure out why they were vomiting- all they wanted to do was run expensive tests. Northside Vet Clinic is a busy place, but the 2 different doctors I have seen really took their time and consulted with one another as to the best way to figure out how to make my cat better. They included me in the discussion too, which was really nice. They really gave my cat THOUGHT. She was given an herb, of all things, and a diet change based on a blood test, and she has not vomited at all in 1 month. I am very pleased.

We check reviews of our veterinary clinic intermittently to see what people think about us, both positively and negatively. We do this so we can try to improve our service to our clients, and for this reason, we pay special attention to complaints people might have about the care their pets have received.
I feel I must respond to the negative review by khbal.
Your not neutered, indoor/outdoor cat , "Samwise," came in with a history of not eating for 3 days. His gums were yellow and he had a high fever. Upon examination, veterinarians formulate a list of possible causes for what they see. In the case of your cat, the differential diagnosis included a bacterial infection of the liver, a viral disease of the arteries, an immune system disorder destroying his erythrocytes, toxic causes, and a parasitic disease of the red cells. Did you really want me to just put your best friend on antibiotics without doing any tests to find out what was wrong? As it turned out, after extensive but necessary testing, your little guy had an immune system disorder of his red cells due to a parasitic infection given to him by fleas. In addition, he also had a kidney infection.
These diseases would have caused him to die if they weren't diagnosed and treated properly. ( He also had a bb pellet in his side that might be bothering him. Good thing we took an x ray!) He was put on a combination of medications and was feeling better the last time I spoke to you. This condition does not always respond to treatment and therefore needs to be followed in a recheck. And yes, because we are not a charity, you will be charged for a recheck, as there will be a small lab fee. You were not ripped off, your cat got the thorough exam and treatment we would have given our own beloved pets.

I've been going to Northside since 1999.

Dr. Eisner is amazing & her knowledge of holistic vet meds & nutrition saved one of my cats from recuring kidney/ bladder problems. Her patience with stupid owners is limited. I have not experienced her lack of tact personally, but I have witnessed it in the waiting room. If you can not take what she says personally and follow her advice to the letter, your dog/cat will be much, much, happier.

Dr. Lehman is much more politic. But if you want an alternative medical suggestion, ask for Eisner's opinion.

The Doctors are kind, both to the animals and their owners.
Both vets I have seen are special people -warm, caring and excellent doctors. They listen and understand.
This office welcomes people of all kinds, rich and poor, whose animals need help.
I cannot recommend this office more highly.

Highly recommended! Northside Vet Clinic offers a holistic approach to pet health. They are interested in making sure your pet has a healthy life, not just making a buck off of you pet's illness. I feel that the vets are thorough and the prices are reasonable. Some people complain about the small waiting room but it never bothered me. Dr. Leiman informed me recently my cat needs dental work and as I scheduled the appointment with the receptionist, she was very empathetic about the cost because of her personal experience. They are all very caring over there!

Saw female dr. esnier-aweful women-left me in room and some tech-think her name was ginger or gingerann-comes in loud talking about food-big attitude for two little women. both of them told me i was basically a bad owner b/c my dog wasnt eating the food that the dr. feeds her dog. was there b/c my dog lost his appetite. Took bloodwork from my dog, but took dog in the back without me. Was told that i make my dog nervous and not them. Tech calls me back with results - dog is anerexic, need more tests. Y didnt dr. call me- was told she is busy. Went to another vet and was told dog sick, gave him antibiotics - within 18 hours dog started to eat again-his food- and doing better. Oh- called them and l/msg to discuss this and still waiting 5 days for phone call. left two messages

I am very picky when it comes to the care of my French Bulldog puppy, and not only did Dr Leiman put up with all my questions, he asked me a lot of questions about my baby. I was worried about a skin issue, and not only did Dr Leiman not take advantage of my fears, he reassured me and explained everything very clearly.
In addition to this, my puppy loves the nurse who gave him treats and now he loves to go to the vet!. The prices are reasonable for Brooklyn, the place is clean and I heard they even do acupuncture.

I figured if Tannenprintz can call Dr Eisner names, loyal, appreciative clients of Dr Barbara can call idiots like tannenprintz names too.
What Ms Tannenprintz doesn't get is that Dr Eisner's focus is simply to help your cat. So what if she doesn't pull punches or ignore things to make YOU feel better? I don't know about you, but I am paying her to take care of my cat, not to be my friend (or in your case, a psychiatrist)
Dr Eisner is ahead of the curve on the issues concerning pet care, so she could come off as a little wacko sometimes, no question. She told me 5 years ago my indoor cat didn't need vaccines every year. It made me nervous, but I listened to her. Now everybody is saying annual vaccines for indoor cats are a mistake. She thinks canned food is better than dry; she even gives out a 3 page handout about it to every new client.
For 2 of my cats on that topic, boy was she right! One cat had been on insulin for 2 years for diabetes- nobody told me to get him off his dry food. Incredibly, 1 month after changing to canned food, his diabetes was gone. My other cat, a big fat boy, has lost 2 pounds since I switched him to canned food last year.
Try to find another vet who is as bright and, yes, as kind as Dr Eisner.
Good luck.

I brought my dog in to get treated for what turned out to be "HGE". Within a matter of an hour, they had screened her for a dozen illnesses, given her an IV, and started her on her way to a full and total recovery. My dog is 17 years old, and she looks like a puppy now. I've been bringing her here since I adopted her at 13 years, and the difference is incredible. Everyone thinks I take really good care of her, but the truth is, the vets at Northside are amazing. Thank you, Norhtside!

Cons: Pets don't have insurance

Took my dog to this clinic last week for a long standing arthritic condition.. I cannot say enough about the caring and quality of care here. The doctor called me about his tests the next morning and spent maybe 10 -15 minutes discussing dietary changes and supplements that could help him. This is what I wanted from a vet. I wanted to share this with other people.
Yes the waiting room is small, but so what. The people here will help your pet,
