Wow, I started to think about this, and I got really conflicted.

On one hand, Mars 2112 is fantastic. It's a themed restaurant, but they've really gone all out. On the other hand, it sucks, in ways that even a kid can spot.

From a kid's perspective, what's not to like? A motion simulator ride that takes you to Mars (think: "Star Tours"), pretty goofy and silly, entertaining for the smaller kids but probably boring for older ones and adults. Inside, a Mars cave theme, very well done, with a two-level restaurant and all sorts of interesting things to look at. Staff wandering around in goofy costumes. An arcade.

Well, from the kid's perspective, the arcade: "it sucked." Because a lot of stuff just wasn't well-maintained. We've been to Chuck E Cheese in the morning, and watched them test, open, repair, and clean all their games when they open, which our local ones do _every_ morning, which probably explains why they usually work. But even so, they occasionally break. Here, it seems unlikely that they're bothering with any of that. When a normally easygoing kid gets ticked off and walks out in frustration, something is wrong.

From an adult's perspective, I didn't appreciate the $2 "entry" fee, only to discover that the menus were also priced rather steeply. Had the food been outstanding, maybe I could understand that, but it was fairly mediocre-to-average. You could get a better meal at Applebee's, and I think for a fair bit less money.

Service was average to good. That's impressive, considering these poor people walking around in uncomfortable-looking costumes and uniforms and stuff, but then again we did go during a slow time.

Disappointing, though, was that they have a "teleporter" to return you to earth, but it "wasn't running", so you basically just walk out the door and suddenly you're back on earth. Good way to ruin the illusion of being on Mars. It gave a definite impression of "we've got your money, have a nice day, there's the exit."

Overall, the facility is over the top, very well done, a fun place to see. Food is average. Gameroom gets no stars. Exit gets no stars. Service was adequate to good. Overall, entertaining, at least once. A visit with young kids will be enjoyable. Try to make sure they don't see the arcade (and avoid disappointment), and try to visit at a non-prime time, and you'll probably have a better experience.

The kids had a great time at Mars 2112. The spaceship ride was alot of fun and the wait was not to long. The food is average with salads and burgers, kind of what you would expect from a family place

I wasnt sure if I wanted to try Mars 2112 while in NY during the holidays, but I was out-voted! The kids had a blast. I felt I was on the starship ! The host and waiters were all dressed in unique costume attire that represents "MARS and outer space! The food was ok, but the prices were ridiculous !

This is a fun place for kids and adults! It all starts with the entry, a virtual simulation space ship ride. Then, you land in the restaurant! A normal restaurant with an out-of-this-world theme! For the kids, martians are roaming around the planet hoping to meet a new "earthling" friend! There's even an arcade! I would recommend this for anyone, kids or adults!

I remember having fun in this place when I was a kid. When I went back, it's a different experience. Now that I am aware of what is expensive and reasonable, I wouldn't recommend this place unless kids want to go.

Mars 2112 is a great place to take kids to once. To get into the restaurant you take a theme park like ride on a motion simulator (not for the queasy) that lands you on Mars. The dining room is decorated to look like you are there on the Red Planet. The food is very conventional and expensive for what you get but you are paying for the ambience. Take note, you do not have to take the rocket back to earth... there is a transporter to take you back after you have eaten.

The experience is the only thing worthy about this restuarant. Through out the years the food has been getting weaker, and the portions smaller. The only things exciting are the aliens walking around, the decor, and the little "ride" before entering the dining room.

I should know by now that any place within a one mile radius of Times Square is going to be bad - let's face it - they don't have to win repeat customers due to the huge amounts of tourists. The ride is nauseating, the atmosphere gloomy and dark and the food is absolutely terrible. The prices are out of this world (no pun intended) and on my way out, I saw a rat. Trust me - go elsewhere with the kids.

PROS:
CONS: Everything

The food is good, but the real entertainment at Mars 2112 is the atmosphere. Take a space ship to your table, and then enjoy your meal while looking at the Martian scenery. Great for kids, especially due to the "aliens' that roam around the restaurant in costume. The food is somewhat expensive, but the restaurant is not somewhere you'd eat daily anyhow - it's more of a one-time entertainment thing. Fun for the whole family!

This enormous, 35,000 square foot restaurant / entertainment complex is something to see. There is something for everyine in the family and you find your sense challenged as you explore a different world. Alas the food is mediocre at best but if you don't mind overpaying for a mediocre burger you'll find this an interesting place to visit.

PROS: Fun effects
CONS: Mediocre food

I went to Mars 2112 for a sweet sixteen lunch for a friend of mine a couple of years ago. When you arrive you can either wait to be brought to the dining area VIA a 3D simulation ride that takes you to "Mars" which is very cool, or you can opt for the quicker path and just be taken straight there. It's less of a wait time for your table but if you have kids i suggest you do the ride.

The food was ok. It wasn't anything spectacular but really overpriced mostly because your paying for the theming more than anything else. The service was incredibly fast, though. They have various "life forms" walk around and entertain, but some people i could see were a bit annoyed by some of the actors. They also add an extra $2 to the tab for every person in your party. For what? The entertainment i guess.

THere is a very small arcade room, and after you leave a gift shop full of more overpriced stuff. Buy a key chain but dont give in to anything else.

I want to go back to experience it maybe one more time. It's something different, atleast. But maybe after a 2nd trip, i dont think ill continue patronizing the place.

PROS: awesome theming, friendly fast service
CONS: way overpriced, food just ok
