I scheduled an appointment for my daughter for a recurrence of a nasty staph infection. They told me they could see us the same day which was good because I had a 2 week old at home and I happened to have a sitter that could watch her. I took my older child to POD and was scheduled to see Dr. Watkins who we had not met before. I made it clear to all that I needed to get home in order to nurse the newborn. Despite my pleas, we waited for almost an hour to see Dr. Watkins. Apparently he likes to chat once he gets in the room with you. He proceeded to tell me a story about a family that passed staph around like the plague and the treatment they were subsequently put on. When I asked whether my family should undertake the same measures, he said, " we'll get to that" and was clearly put out that I should interrupt his story. He never did answer the question and I wonder what the point of telling the story was.
My daughter had 2 very painful staph sores on her bottom. Dr. Watkins' attempt at starting the treatment process included playfully slapping her bottom and asking, ' may I spank you?". That got her to start howling. He then attempted to cajole her by throwing the end of his stethoscope at her and asking her to take it. I finally had to ask if he wanted to see the affected area as I couldn't tell how long this nonsense was going to go on. Dr. Watkins said "No, this won't take forever" to which i replied, "I need to get home to my 2 week old." This seemed to trigger a response from him.
Dr. Watkins then robotically went through the motions of examining the sores, 1 was abscessed. WITHOUT RUBBING WITH ALCOHOL PRIOR, OR LANCING, he proceeded to pop them like pimples which was the most painful thing to witness and hear as my little one screamed and writhed in pain. This was not the first time, she had an abcess drained at POD. The first time, was much more clinical. This time with Dr. Watkins, was just plain sadistic. He didn't even rub the area with alcohol afterwards. I'm surprised he even managed a band aid.
After this visit, I requested her medical records and will never be going back. Now, my daughter who previously loved doctor's visits and never cried, even during shots, is scared to death of the doctor. I don't blame her.

Dr Somer Curtis is THE BEST. I have 3 kids (3 to 9) - and the youngest has health problems. Dr Curtis is fabulous with all of them and helps me a lot with the younger one - I feel so, so lucky to have found her. The kids adore her - it is amazing how she can put us all at ease when things one of them is sick. Anyone who is looking for a pedaitrician should look no further. The nurses are wonderful too. When Dr Curtis is away I have seen a couple of her colleagues, also very nice and helpful, but she is by far the favorite.

We see Dr. Neely and simply love him! He is thorough, but doesn't take any unnecessary steps! I fully trust him with the care for my daughter!
I also noticed that Dr. Neely and Dr. Yaeger were both named two of the best pediatricians in the DFW metroplex in D Magazine last month...so congratulations to both of them! I am proud to be a patient of POD!

All three of my children see Dr. Watkins. He is a great doctor. He takes the time to establish a good rapport with parents, but mostly importantly, with children. My kids love him! While Dr. Watkins is thorough, he is not quick to overdiagnose or overmedicate, which I appreciate. With my first born, I wondered if he was too laid back, but with 3 kids now, I've come to realize that he knows medicine, knows kids and that he will never get as excited or anxiety-ridden about an issue as I will (or have in the past), which I appreciate! He has seen so many kids for so many years, he stays up-to-date on pediatric medical reports and research, and I trust him with my family.

We have also seen Dr. Neely and Dr. Yaeger over the years when Dr. Watkins isn't available and they have been great for us as well. The nurses are good, I'm not always crazy about the folks at reception, but overall it's a wonderful practice.

I have been going to POD for 8 years now~ Dr. Curtis has been an amazing and excellent Dr. for all four of my sons~ Also, we rarely have to wait long, which is a plus when you have 4 little ones up there! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Also, we see Nurse PIper, who is excellent as well.

I loveeee my children pediatrician, Dr. Karen Halsell. She is very sweet, calm, understanding and very caring to my children needs. All three have been patients of Dr. Halsell for quite some time now and I wouldn't trade doctors for the world.

Dr. Neely has been our pediatrician for 12 years. He is consistent time and again. He has always been right on the mark when dealing with my son and daughter's illnesses. I will be sad when the day comes that my kids are to old to see him and have to go somewhere else for care. Dr. Watkins and Dr. Halsell are also very good and have helped us when Neely was unavaiable.

Dr. Watkins is incredible! We started seeing him 6 years ago, moved to another town for a few years and are now back. Even when we lived out of town, he was accessible, answered my questions when I needed a second opinion and saw my daughter when we were in town visiting family. We're happy to be back in his care!

We never wait. We have shown up early and they take us early. Dr. Curtis answers all of my questions with a smile. The staff is super nice. They fit us in on the same day when my son is ill.

He seems very thorough and always takes time to answer my questions. I appreciate the ASM questionnaires that we complete at different developmental stages of my child's life.

This office was recommended to me by a number of people. I am happy that I found this practice.

Dr. Yaeger has been my sons pediatrician since birth. My son is now almost 3 and I have been impressed every time. Dr. Yaeger has always had a great disposition with my son and has been reassuring to me as a first time mom. The lactation consultant really helped me when I was still breastfeeding and the advice nurses are awesome. Whenever I call to talk to a nurse, they call back immediately and give me great advice. Even after moving from Dallas to a suburb about 45 minutes north not long after my son was born, I still bring my child to Dr. Yaegar.

I have no complaints. I have been with Dr. Somer Curtis for 6 yrs. My two daughters 6 and 4 adore her. I have never waited for too long and I couldn't ask for a better Dr for my children. She is absolutely nurturing and loves children. She is full of knowledge and will share the milestones with you. As an experienced mom, (my oldest 20) her knowledge is great. She will talk to you and take her time with all questions. She is never in a hurry and always makes time to talk to my children. She remembers my children as well as my husband and I. The entire facility is WONDERFUL. We absolutely would not trade Dr. Curtis for any other Dr. We adore her!I would have no problems seeing the other Dr.s as well. They all take good care of us and the office staff are kind and courteous. In 6 years, I have been extremely pleased with Pediatricians of Dallas and would HIGHLY recommend them to everyone.

I interviewed Dr. Watkins prior to having my baby. We were down to the wire and he seemed "good enough". After my son was born Dr. Halsell visited him in the hospital and I loved her... I switched to her as my son's primary. Dr. Halsell was always busy and rushed so we ended up not seeing her much; thus I switched back to Watkins. Fortunately my son didn't need much more than shots; however, the few times that I brought him in for non-routine visits Dr. Watkins was condescending, annoyed and not very thorough. I actually had to make suggestions to him on what to check. I was so disappointed. The final strike was when I brought my son in for a "burn-like" rash on his arm and he was diagnosed with a mosquito bite. Dr. Watkins not only misdiagnosed a burn (later confirmed by a doctor from another practice) for a bug bite after a brief look, but got angry with me when I asked him if he would consider other possibilities. I switched practices immediately and have been thrilled with our new doctor. I saw most of the other doctors in this practice with whom I was equally unimpressed. Even my husband, who is very easy to please, was disappointed. A lot of people reviewing this practice seem to like Dr. Neely... he is the one doctor I never met; however, I recommend you keep searching - there are GREAT pediatricians out there and there is no care more important than that for your child.

We usually saw Dr. Watkins. He is fantastic. My daughter always responded well to him, and his manner is excellent. Very patient and always good at providing needed info.
The nurses are wonderful as well. One nurse gave such quick shots, the 3rd shot was in before she started to cry. They are always willing to help with billing issues as well.
Only negatives are the wait, and the unspoken late policy. On the few occasions that we were a few minutes late, we were bumped to the next available appointment, which once was almost 2 hours later!

I always took my children here when they were younger. They would get their immunizations here and were also seen for your usual illnesses. I never had to wait to be seen. I always got an appointment quick. They take insurance, but they will work with you on payment.

This facility was great with my children. You can get in quick to see the pediatrician and get out quick. They get your children feeling better in no time. Their prices are reasonable if you do not have insurance.

Well - this is my first experience with a Pediatricians office - so I don't know what to compare it to other than my doctors. My daugher is 1 and so far we've had a few very good experiences and a few not so good experiences.

We started with Dr. Curtis - who is very nice and very mild mannered but not very nurturing. We only saw her 1 time though - so I may have been a little premature to judge her "bedside manner" but I wasn't thrilled. She was kind - but not very calming and seemed a little tense with my then 2 week old baby. I went back when our daughter was 6 weeks old and saw Dr. Watkins - who was AMAZING with her. We quickly made him our Pediatrician. He has been great ever since - very patient, calm and nurturing - our daughter loves him. We've also seen Dr. Neely - on a sick visit - he was great as well. There are 5 doctors in this office - which is great when you have a sick child and need to get in that day. However, with 5 doctors - they are very busy so they are always running late - usually about 25-30 minutes so plan to wait. I am still not 100% sure this is the Pediatricians office for us - but haven't found a new one to try and I love Dr. Watkins so I'm not running away just yet.

Also - The nurses are usually very sweet - but at our last visit the one giving my daughter her vaccinations was not so nice. We had waited 45 minutes to see the doctor and with a wiggly 1 year old - that is really hard. The nurse was supposed to come in to give the shots after the doctor left. After about 15 more minutes I went to ask if they knew we were waiting and they snapped that she was "getting the vaccinations ready and would be in soon". Okay - 10 more minutes pass and she bursts in, rattles off some info - grabs my daughters legs and stabs in the needles. I was shocked to say the least and my daughter was terrified. I know everyone has their bad days - so I hope this was a one time thing but I promise it will not happen again.
