If you want an insurance company that does *NOT look out for you, their customer; then they would be a good choice.
After 22 years of driving with no at fault accidents, and 9 years of clean driving while insured with Pemco; they let another driver take advantage of me because my front bumper bumped this drivers back bumper. There was no body damage to the vehicle, any normal and decent person would have waved it off as no problem. Pemco, lets this guy get away with seeking $10K + On top of this, my Pemco claim rep was more interested in making me at fault and treated me like a child.
Unfortunately a real accident occurred due to obstructed vision and oil slick roads. A witness to this accident who lives in the area, describes this road as accident prone, reporting two more accidents happened just within a week or a month of my accident. It should be noted that Pemco did not even see that I had a safe way home following this accident, and a stranger gave me a ride home. And again, this Pemco claim rep also treated me like a child. From the first incident, I can only assume they let this person get a way with the bank.
After my policy expired, I was told to have a month to get a car reinstated. After upon working to do so, I called Pemco and they essentially changed their mind.
Again, after 22 years of driving with no at fault accidents, and 9 years of clean driving while insured with Pemco; they would not cover me because of the above.
So in short, Pemco is an insurance company that will happily sit by and take your money, but when their services are needed they do not help you, treat you like a child, and then "abandon" you.

According to the attorneys I deal with as clients; this common practice. When you are in an accident and injured, you need services like yard work, and house cleaning. If you have part ??B? coverage on your PIP you have up to $5000.00 in coverage on most policies to pay for out-of-pocket expenses like those listed above. The insurance company states that they will pay for services not to exceed $40.00/per day or a maximum amount of $200.00/per week. So you get the work done and usually you are charged weekly, or in my case with Geico, I am charged monthly. I am charged $360.00/per month to have my lawn mowed, and my yard maintained. I submitted the invoice with a copy of my check of out-of-pocket expense to Geico, my insurance company. I was called by the Geico??s adjuster and told that they would only pay $40.00 a week or $160.00 for the total month. That amount would be half of what it cost me, $360.00. I argued that even if they divided the $360.00 by 4 that would only be $80.00/per week and not exceed the $200.00 maximum they would pay. The adjuster said that he was only following the law for Washington State in regards to PIP insurance. I ask to speak to his supervisor and when the supervisor came on the phone he said that is what Geico was going to pay and nothing more. He also stated that they wanted me to go for an independent medical exam so Geico could assess my injuries. ( I was hit from the rear while waiting for traffic and had a severe whiplash. I am still being treated for the injury. My doctor has written the properly worded letter about my injury prohibiting me from doing this type of physical work.) I ask to speak to his superior and was told that it would do me no good; I did not give up and finally got a name and was told that this person would call me back. I looked up key people in the Geico Company and email them a statement. In that statement I asked the question; would Geico like some negative publicity in the Seattle area? I stated that I was going to get Jessie Jones, the consumer advocate from KING5 News, the local CBS affiliate. Within a few hours I got a call from my adjuster at Geico stating that he was very sorry that he had misinterpreted the law and that Geico would be sending out the full $360.00 per month for as long as I needed it. He also stated that I would receive a letter stating this the following day. I requested that the supervisor that had told me ??that is what Geico was going to pay and nothing more? call me with an apology. I was called by the supervisor within 15 minutes with an apology.
Pemco happens to be the insurance company that insures the car that hit me and caused my injury. An uninsured driver was driving at the time and she would not give the insurance information for the car, her daughter??s car, and it took me 3 days to get this information. (The driver lied to me at the scene stating that she was covered by Hartford. I called Hartford later and found out she had cancelled her policy several months earlier. After this person slammed into my car I pulled over and the car pulled up next to me with their windows down and the passenger stated there was no damage. I insisted that we pull over and exchange information, but the driver stated there was no place to pull over. I stated there is a driveway right there and I pointed to my right. The driver of the other car pulled into the driveway and I got out of my car to examine the damage. I took several pictures with my smart phone and explained that there was extensive damage to her Toyota Sienna. The Toyota had gone under my jeep and the whole front was torn back to the headlights. I asked for proof insurance and was told by the driver that she wanted to pay for the damages out of her own pocket. I told her that it looked to me like there was at least $1500.00 worth of damage to her daughter??s car and I did not know how much damage there was to mine. I asked again for the insurance information and offered mine but she would not give anything but a phone number and name to contact her. The owner of the car that is covered by Pemco did not make an effort to get me the insurance information and her mother had my business card with my phone number. In Washington State you are obligated by law to turn over this information at the scene of the accident. I received a letter from Rochelle Knight the claims adjuster for Pemco stating that my injuries were remarkable considering the amount of damage to both cars. So you can see what kind of crap I am going to be putting up with when my injuries allow me to settle.

Shysters Inc!

Pros: They know how to print Insurance Cards.
Cons: They know how not to pay claims caused by their clients.

If you have PEMCO Insurance for your car and they don't pay you in the event of an accident, you deserve them!

I was struck by one of their careless drivers while parked stationary in a parking lot. Their careless driver was driving at speed and ignoring parking lines while I was opening my door. Their driver crashed into my door while swinging wide into the next parking space. If I had been standing beside my car I would have been injured. They impacted 4 inches from the center licence tag. I took pictures of the accident and my insurance company sent PEMCO the claim to repair my car.

It seems I should have looked behind me for nimrods traveling at high rates of speed in a small parking lot and not paying attention while driving before opening my door. At least this is the excuse for not paying the claim PEMCO gave!

PEMCO is nothing more than a "Insurance Card Printing Mill"!

If I am in another accident and the person pulls out a PEMCO Insurance card; man, woman, or child the physical beatings will begin immediately because I know their slimey insurance company will slither away from their responsiblity.

Claim Number: 51003523320 FU PEMCO!

Raising rates on a clean driving record for 3 years now. Actively looking at other companies. Excuse for raising rates was so lame.

Last year they fired the IT employees and moved work to India for cost cutting.
They had a crap IT system. Earlier they had messed up by spending big on some useless projects. Those projects cost a lot and did not give anything significant in return. Now since running short of budget, they started offshoring.
The top management in IT division is useless. They should be fired first if the Company wants to turnaround.

I am seeing a trend where Indian management drives the company to hire more Indians. I also see PEMCO changing its name to "PEMCO of India" which better aligns with their strategic direction. I dropped them myself - since they are "NOT a lot like ME". Sad when this happens and shortsighted management is in place.

I am a US taxpayer. End of sentence.

I was in an accident with one of Pemco's drivers. The accident was not my fault. Pemco determined that my car was totaled. They offered me a sum of money and I told them it was not enough to get me a comparable car. Pemco then took over a week to get back to me and they offered me a very lower sum of money for my car, then proceeded to tell me I could not get the first offer. No one told me, if they offered a second time then the first one was not available any more. That is messed up! In there adds they say "We are one of you just a little different" Would you do this to one of your own? Stay away from Pemco!

We have been with Pemco for over 14 years. So far they have been good to us. I had my first accident ( backed into someone in my driveway) They fixed my car and did a very good job. Don"t know how much our insurance will go up. Hope not to much.

My friend was just let go from Pemco because she had been their for over 20 years, almost 30 years, and she was costing the company to much money. She heard from other's at Pemco that the higher ups did not want the dead heads to go, only the employee's that were going to cost them, for instance the medical retirement benefit they had. This is a very unfair practice and I feel so bad for her after all that she had given this company.
I do know that a number of friends and relatives who had Pemco insurance as their carrier have gone elsewhere. There are so many less expensive insurance companies and even some that will send you a dividend check every year. Good luck Pemco.

I have been a PEMCO policy holder for both auto & home since 1968. I supposedly have the highest safe driver, credit rating, & all of the other "discounts" they offer. Yet, my premium goes up every year. Since I am now living on SS, I have had to reduce my coverage to keep the premiums at an affordable rate. It would be nice if they would actually reward the customers who haven't cost them a dime by not raising THEIR premiums.

i have had pemco for 2 years... while it has not gone up much my rates have gone up over the 2 years and i had no accidents or violations. I recently had my first accident ever. embarrassingly i backed into a fence post. the only thing damaged and on the claim was my car. the processing and claims went quickly and smoothly. i recently got my adjusted rate and it went up $75 a month! this is outrageous!!! after getting various quotes from various insurance companies i found one that was not only less expensive but had just a little bit better coverage. im switching companies. way to go pemco for punishing me so severely for 1 "accident" you just lost 2 customers.. my mom who has pemco is also changing insurance carriers after my experience.

PEMCO has been my insurance company for years. I have made claims in the past and they have been great to deal with. I am always completely satisfied.
I tried to see if I could find cheaper insurance rates out there, but I was told by the agent that they have a hard time beating PEMCO's rates. He tried and couldn't come close.

I've been with Pemco for several years now. I have had been in 3 accidents (bad timing) that were not my fault and Pemco handled my claims promptly and professionally. I was very pleased that they were on my side! I was very surprised that my rates did not increase due to the incidences that occured! I use them for home owners as well. I will never change companys!

Pemco has the best rates in Washington state. Also service.
Its not that they have their corporate offices here, its really about their agents. Bruce Smith for example is one of the hardest working guys around.
