Tandoori's is a nice find in the neighborhood.

by Todd C.

After listening to an ad on WBEN and Tom Bauerle's show, my wife and I tested out the place (having never had Indian food before). We have been there multiple times over the past two years, and never had any bad service, bad food, or noticed any discrimination. The food was very enjoyable - my wife likes it mild while I like a bit of a kick'n curry here and there. The staff was very friendly, and after recognizing us being "regular" customers, mostly leave us alone to enjoy the food and atmosphere. Even having some Indian music is nice and sets the mood - the next time you are at a Chinese restaurant, see if you hear mood music or Kiss 98.5? Food was served timely, prices were comparable to other places we went, and we are overall satisfied. Only thing negative is that the rice, naan, or other things are separate add-ons. Kinda wish the rice was included in the price of the meal.

Tandoori's is not what you should expect

by Jim K.

Just visited Tandoori this evening--avearge food quality and not anywhere near the Tom Bowerley hype of "great". He must receive a lot of free meals there.
Our waiter seemed pre-occupied and was not helpful in suggesting entrees. If you love food overly seasoned with garlic and are into "deep-fried",.THEN YOU HAVE FOUND--THE PLACE. Not for me, the food is sub-par. Too many better other reastaurants to choose from.

I have also been very pleased- excellent meal!

by Kevin K.

I have also had a great dining experience at Tandoori's. My friends and I go there about every other week and sometimes for special occasions. The waiters are very friendly and helpful. The manager, Peter, is especially friendly and helpful in making our choices. His mixed drinks are superb (try the pomegranate martini!) I have not observed any hint of discrimination described in previous reviews. If you have not tried Tandoori's- put it on your places to dine list!

I was pleased

by loretta f.

I have been to Tandoori 3 times so far and each time I was very pleased with the food and the service. I was so surprised to read the other reviews that spoke so poorly of this restaurant. Our server was polite, courteous, friendly and helpful in choosing food as we were not familiar with some of the dishes. The food came out hot, seasoned to our liking, was presented well and tasted good. The buffet at lunch was good too.

Disgrace To Indian Crusine

by Simon T.

PLEASE READ PRIOR TO TRYING OUT TANDOORI"S. Yesterday was my first visit to Tandoori and it will DEFINATELY be my last. The food served was cold and the dishes was too salty. The ice tea was awful, the worst ice tea in town with NO lemon. To top it all, the service was bad. By the way, please note that if you are Indian, you will have to sit in a different section from the white folks. Extremely sad and miserable owners running the place. I have contact the local media to look deeper into this so call FINE CRUSINE that served POOR QUALITY FOOD. Who rates this place anyway????? Captain Templer.Canada

Royalty card

by s k.

I visited this place 3 times but when I checked my royalty card today, it said inactive?
1st time was pleasant, 2nd time alright but 3rd time was a real disappointment especially when we chose this restaurant to celebrate my brother's birthday and the food, along with the service was cold!
I am getting rid of my royalty card and cooking my own tandooris in future...

Tandoori's Discrimination.

by G K.

1) Seated in a function room with no heat, with another Indian family. Food was cold and lack of salt.

2) I have been to many restaurants all around the world that never
had such a great review as Tandoori's so I thought I try this
place, I was shocked to see discrimination towards indians in an
indian restaurant. The poorest quality of food in flavor for an
indian restaurant.

3) The only thing they are specialized in my opinion is
incompetence for a restaurant that supposedly to have such
great reviews. I am assuming this restaurant staff must have
wrote their own reviews.

4) They are the WORSE DEAL EVER.

5) I would NOT NEVER ever recommend them even if they are the
only indian restaurant left standing in this world.

Garbage Food, Discriminatory Service

by debanjan d.

Last night I we went to Tandoori. I've heard a lot about the place to the finest Indian cuisine in Western NY. Upon entering, I even noticed a certificate signed by Senator Hillary Clinton, bestowing her affections towards Tandoori. Till that it was great. After that came the horrible food and discriminatory service. I won't spent a word on the quality of food which can only be described by one word - "garbage". However, I would explain the use of the sensitive word "discriminatory". The service better towards the whiter skinned people who sat there praising the great food they were having. And I am betting, the food was probably better for them than to us. I also hated the remarks made by a waiter who was behaving more like a Hollywood celebrity than a waiter. He passed comments like "are you going to have dal (lentil curry) with kulfi (ice-cream)" when my American friend was having dessert but had a half-eaten dish of dal beside it. I would never go there again. That place seems to deliver good food and service to fairer skinned people. What a shame for an Indian restaurant!

Do we really want to deal with Tandoori's?

by Molly E.

My boyfriend and I are longtime lovers of Indian food. Tandoori's advertises with WBEN, a western NY AM radio station that we listen to often. It didn't take long before we made our way to Tandoori's. We were both very excited, WBEN has sent us to great restaurants in the past and we trusted the advice of Tom Bowerly and Sandy Beach (Radio personalities.) In the first ten minutes, I was irritated with the service. The dining area set up is very crowded, and we were there on a Friday night-- big mistake! At Tandoori's, you deal with 4-7 waiters during your dining experience, one to fill your drink, one to take your order, one to re-fill your drinks, one to bring the bill ect. almost all of whom are very pleasant and helpful. There is one waiter (who may be a manager as he dresses in formal wear and is the only American) who will make his way to your table (before you order, and possibly to take your order) regardless of how busy the restaurant is. I was reminded of a shoddy second hand car salesman as this waiter gave his speech about Indian food (though we assured him we knew what we were doing.) My boyfriend and I, experienced with Indian dining, had made up our minds as to what we wanted to order. This waiter came to take our order and in a very condescending manor, tried to sway us to order the most expensive entrees and pushed us into ordering more food than we needed or wanted (and wouldn't leave us alone until we did.) We assured him again, that we had made up our minds and he said "NO, you don't want thaaaaaaat, you want thiiiissssss!" You can imagine how frustrated we were at this point. My boyfriend changed his entree, just to get him off our backs. He got an entree that he was unhappy with, and his beer (the only American micro brew on the list) was $13.00! Upon leaving Tandoori's we both recognized that the Tandoori Chef frozen food line (found in Tops and Wegmans organic section freezers) had better flavor and tasted more authentic than the food at Tandoori's. We've eaten at Tandoori's twice, the second time we had hoped that the first experience (the one I've just described) was just a fluke. Our second experience was similar, the same deal with the same waiter, but we made sure to stand our grounds on our entree choices. He tried to sway us yet again, but we were not swayed. I noticed him visiting every table, giving the same speech and making the other patrons as uncomfortable as he had made us. We wont visit Tandoori's for a third time.

rude waiter, sub par food

by Anonymous

This was our first visit to Tandoori. The atmosphere and the food was mediocre. The curry was cold and watery.
The one redeeming quality: the bread was hot, crispy, and tasty.

The waiter, a non-Indian, who fit the sterotype of an obnoxious highschool jock, had a chip on his shoulder for some reason and served us plenty of thinly concealed disdain and attitude.

Well, that left plenty of sour taste in our mouths. We tipped a normal amount, but I wonder if we should have not tipped at all.

We won't go back there again, even if we get a different waiter. We don't need to pay to be treated like that.

I really wasn't that impressed with Tandoori's...

by Rachel C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,866

This restaurant is one of the biggest Indian restaurants I've seen in the area, and it apparently has gotten very good reviews in the past, but I personally wasn't that impressed with it. The place is clean and I guess more upscale than some of it's competitors, but the food just didn't measure up. It's a decent place to go for show, but I think you'll get better quality food elsewhere. Perhaps they are trying to appeal to a different palate, since it seems a lot of American people find their way here, but whatever the reason, I feel the food is lacking something. It's decent, but not great.
