Ratings_icons Favorite venue in Philly

This is my favorite place to see a concert in Philly. It always has some good acts, it's in a great neighborhood, and it's easily accessible from Center City, no matter if you want to take the bus or walk. The security is tight but not too intrusive. I love seeing shows here.

Commonly known as TLA (not to be confused with TLA video), this venue features all sorts of bands and artists. Recently I went to see Beth Orton for only $20! The inside is a little rundown, and I wouldn't want to see it with the lights up, but the space is relatively small so you know you'll be able to see the performer even if you're in the back. If you get there early, and are over 21, you can go to the bar areas--upstairs and to the side--where they have stools. Unfortunately, there aren't many so I've always had to stand, the area in front of the stage is just a big empty space. Since it's located on South Street, you can grab a bite to eat before or after (I recommend Jim's Steaks nearby--definitely hits the spot after listening to some awesome music). TLA definitely fills a niche in Philadelphia, providing a forum for us to listen to some of our favorite bands and artists!

This is one of my favorite places to see a live show because of the intimate setting. You can get up really close to the band and there aren't too many goony bouncers to throw you back. The prices are OK, depending who you want to see. I usually pay around $15 for a good show. I saw and met Supergrass here most recently. They sell lots of fun merchandise in the front of the venue as concert halls usually do, and there is usually a book to sign up for the fan list. It is a pretty clean place as far as they go, ample bathrooms. Conveniently located in the heart of South Street.

The TLA is located right in the heart of South Street and is one of the prime spots for live music. Run by Clear Channel, the venue is where the acts that are too big for the Trocadero and too small for the Electric Factory call home. A household name for concert-goers in Philadelphia.
