Have shopped here for years. They have the cheapest prices for used CD's I've seen anywhere. The best deals are on the CD's with broken cases that are usually 2.99. Most of the staff is helpful and semi-knowledgeable on music. The door lady is especially nice and watches that store like a hawk (which is understandably necessary). The selection is better than most used CD stores but nothing too special. I used to shop there all the time until one visit. The story of that visit is really of little significance and isn't that big of a deal so you don't have to waste your time reading it. Even though this is way too long, I thought I'd share it since it is pretty funny and a little creepy too.

It was a while ago, I think it was 02 or 03 and I was going to pick up the new Super Furry Animals album Rings Around the World at CD Source. I'd been a fan of the band since the mid 90s, despite the band's name being a bit odd which has led some uninformed people to think there is an association to that odd Furry movement where people dress in animal costumes and do other things. I am certain this band does not promote itself or make an effort to associate itself with the furry counterculture. It is simply the name of the band, nothing more. Anyways, I found a copy of the CD and as I picked it up a male employee (wasn't a manager, not sure if he works there now) came up beside me as I was holding the CD and said, "I hear track six is pretty good". At the time I thought nothing of it. I figured he was a fan of the band too and he thought it was a standout track so I told him I was looking forward to hearing the album and that it had some good press reviews. After this encounter, part of me wondered if he was being facetious and making a semi-clever pun being that "I hear track six is pretty good" sounds a lot like "I hear the sex is pretty good" and referring to the whole furry b.s. Who knows maybe he was trying to meet a furry or something. I concluded I was thinking way to far into the whole thing and it wasn't that big of deal either way. On my next visit to CD Source I saw the same employee. So while another employee was within earshot of us I said to the employee, "I listened to the new Super Furry Animals and your right, track six really was good" to see how he would respond. Dudes eyes got big and he looked worried like I spilled the beans or something and he said, "I don't know what your talking about." Then I said "Don't you listen to the Super Furry Animals?" He said no. Anyway at this point I was pretty sure the dude was just trying to meet some furries when he said what he did and felt a little bad for blowing his cover. Anyway that's my funny, vaguely creepy story about CD Source.

Also I just want to reiterate that this was just one employee who was probably just trying to make his job more interesting. The rest of the staff is cool and it is a good place to get music even though I'll probably buy any SFA records at Good Records so people don't judge me for liking a band with a weird name. If you took the time to read this all the way through can you please reply with a number 1,2, or 3

1. That's a little bit creepy and lame that an employee assumed you were a furry because you listen to a certain band.
2. I thought to far into it and the guy probably just heard track 6 was good on a Super Furry Animals album (although he made it clear next time I saw him that he didn't listen to the band)
3. How uncool of me to call him out on it around a co-worker, he was just a little bit curious.

either way they lost a regular customer, ive probably spent a couple hundred dollars there since my first visit a couple years ago but i will not go back, didnt catch her name but i believe she is one of the owners or sim. i bought a new cd there, it did not work from day one my cd player (r)ejected it, it took multiple attempts to finally get it to play, it tried multiple players and all other cds work fine in my car... so the 30 day (or whatever the policy states) time period for returns had lapsed and the receipt long gone, but after rediscovering the cd (buried in my console) and attempting to play it i thought i would see if they had any other similar complaints or if they would trade in for another copy, she was very short with me and basically gave the cd a spit shine and handed it back and said it must be my cd player...

never again... i hope the dump goes under

Just discovered this store after having moved here from NC. They have a HUGE selection of used cds at great prices! Also have new cds at lower prices than most places. Allow plenty of time to prowl through all the cds -- I went one day at lunch and was late getting back to work! The people there are nice too -- an added bonus.

If you are looking for a CD by that local band you heard over the weekend- try out CD Source. They seem to have so many little bands and local bands. They sell and buy used Cd's as well as a variety of new ones. The prices are good even though they don't give you a ton when you sell them back- it is better than some stores. They have a good staff that knows their music and knows a lot about the local music scene.
